People claiming their roster is “trash” when really it’s just a case of them having a bunch of excellent champions, just not the one everyone’s currently drooling over
I'm not sure that I would call it a pet peeve, but I do find it detrimental when people don't think for themselves and discount ideas because they're not popular.
People calling Sabretooth 'ST' when Sabretooth is all one word. Similar with any other one-word named character that some wise-ass has to shorten to two letters like Crossbones, Yellowjacket, Taskmaster, etc.
If I'm being honest, my biggest pet peeve in general is when someone asserts something matter of factly when they clearly have no idea what they are talking about, and then decides to die on that hill of ignorance by claiming that everyone who calls them out is out to get them.
It happens a lot: pretty much anyone who mentions "patents" for example. A lot of people don't understand how the Apple developer guidelines work but are willing to assert all sorts of opinions about those. The game implementation draws out a lot of pseudo experts as well. Everyone who knows anything can tell immediately these guys don't, but they think everyone else is just as misinformed as they are, so they feel justified in saying anything. They just don't know how obvious it is.
Within the game itself, my biggest pet peeve by far is when someone thinks they know how the majority of players view the game and thinks they can represent that viewpoint authoritatively. "Nobody likes this champ" or "no one wants to play this game mode" or "no one buys this offer" etc. It poisons every discussion about the game in one way or another. The only thing everyone agrees on is that the game could be so much better, but no one agrees on what direction it should go next. But a lot of people *think* there is. Having had a lot of open conversations with a lot of different kinds of players about what's wrong with the game, I know that consensus doesn't exist.
I think if we all understood just how different we all were, and just how different the things we want in the game are, we'd be more likely to accept that many of the things in the game we don't like are there for someone else to enjoy, and we'd tolerate those things more if we realized how much the stuff we like drives so many other players batty.
Personally, I don't mind if someone @s me in a thread they want me to read. At least, at the moment, it isn't done to excess and usually seems to be at least somewhat relevant. Contrary to what some people might thing, I don't live on the forums and there's a lot of threads that escape my attention, especially at (what for me is) off hours. But if people don't want to do that or they think it'll look funny if they @ me, they can also just PM me if they want me to look at something.
My real biggest pet peeve is when someone wants to discuss a character suggestion and it gets promptly shut down with an instruction to use the Wishlist thread - which is so littered with images a discussion in there would be a chore.
