I think she’ll be a champ that higher players rank if they really like her, but she’s not going to fill a gap in an end game roster.
That’s ok, not every buff has to be for end game players, I think this buff has done its job of solving problems (subject to testing). But I do hope we get an exciting buff soon! Hawkeye and Joe Fixit were the last ones, 4 months ago now (all of March, Feb, Jan and Dec since they were introduced at the start of December). DPXF and Storm hopefully will carry on the game changing buffs
Agree but she's got like what 3 buffs and she's still not looking as was needed to be
Needed to be is subjective. There's our vision, and their vision. I'd say with this revision, they took feedback into account. One of the biggest complaints was she wasn't practical to use. That doesn't mean they'll do EVERYTHING we want.
I agree, remember back when Gamora’s first buff was announced? You and I had a long back and forth about whether her buff was successful.
This is exactly what I was talking about on whether it was a good buff at the time, because it was so unbelievably impractical to get 10 buffs for a miss counter.
I wasn’t saying she absolutely needed tons of use and to be god tier in order for it to be a successful buff, but I did say that it needed to be practical to even start to complete the objective of being a miss counter. Now that her miss counter is more viable, I think it’s a successful buff.
Is it an exciting buff? No, not really from an end game perspective. And it’s probably not “successful” from the perspective of an end game player. But it is successful from Kabam’s perspective, which is to take bad champions and make them usable for players from all over the player base. It just so happens this one isn’t for end game players.
While I don’t think this buff will fix all of Gamora’s issues, such as having little utility, I think it’s certainly a step in the right direction. One of the main problems that has plagued her since her initial buff was how stressful her playstyle could be, and I feel like this fixes that with the increased proc chance for her buffs plus increased base duration as well. I also think her miss counter could be much more practical now with it only requiring 8 buffs, since it should be much easier to get and keep her buffs now. Ultimately, we’ll still need to wait until release to test and truly get a sense of how these changes impact her, but I’m actually looking forward to trying her out.
Pretty weak buff. She still has almost no utility. The number of buffs before she counters Miss still needs to be lower. Like 4-5. Otherwise you’re just waiting too long to get into the actual fight.
To be fair, I think this is probably the strongest aspect of the buff. The change in the miss counter.
So before, it was a 35% chance per hit, and you needed 10 buffs. That meant you’d need an expected 29 medium or light hits to get your miss counter (0.35* 29 = 10.15) . Add in heavy attacks every two combos or so, and you’ve got over 40 hits before you can counter miss.
Now, you only need an expected 13 medium or light hits to counter miss (0.65 *13 = 8.45). So two 5 hit combos and a heavy, then MLL for about 17 hits including the heavy will on average get you your miss counter. Is this perfect? No, but it’s a hell of an improvement by a factor of 3 times less expected hits. And in my view, aside from the buff duration increase, it’s probably the only real improvement this buff is showing.
This part was fine in my view, what isn’t as fine overall, is that she isn’t getting anything else added. She does need something else to make her buff exciting, and on that level, I’ll agree with you it’s a weak buff
It’s absolutely an improvement, but it’s still not practical, IMO. How are you going to get 5-hit combos off before you can counter miss? And then by the time you get 8 buffs, the first ones will be falling off. At least until you start getting extra duration later in the fight.
I don’t think so, not based on only two tune ups. This is my response to a similar question in this thread I’ll copy it below
Maybe the first two buffs of the program being small tune ups is a sign of the future of the program post change, maybe they’re a shaky start of a really positive program.
2 samples isn’t a lot to choose from in the grand scheme of things - especially two tune ups that are definitely safety options from Kabam’s point of view. I mean, imagine trying to judge the previous program on nova and ronin.
I definitely agree it’s not the greatest start, but just look at two other confirmed champions - Deadpool X force and Storm OG. There is no chance they are going to be tune ups. I think that’s where we can actually get a good look at how this program is going to turn out. I’m personally trying to stay optimistic for these moderate/overhaul champs in the future. If only for the sake of my duped DPXF 6*
It’s measured, for sure—hard to believe any real time has been spent on updates since 2021.
I’d suggest the program is on life support. A decent Storm or DPX buff would rebuild some hope, but I’m not convinced the team has the bandwidth to make eventful buffs anymore.
By the way, thanks for preserving my original comment in your reply. Apparently, suggesting the buff program is neutered is fine if you use different words than I did.
So, these are the kind of "buffs" to mostly expect from now on?

I agree that two buffs is not the best sample of what to come, but since they work as a "teaser" of some sort for the program, they should have been at least satisfying in a medium degree, to boost people s hopes for the future. Just like teasers work in general.
Not game changing, but the fact that stacking buffs it's easier opens to some cool stuff: for instance with Nebula synergy she can be able to easily reduce to 0 AA of robots!

Oh, I didn't disagree then. I simply said I don't make judgments until they've been released for some time. For the record, you were right.
The only Gamora we have in the game, have been buff like 3x and she's still struggling to find a place. Arguably, the only practical utility she has is miss counter LOL. This is a lackadaisical work! These designers couldn't even make good use of her signature ability, put something practical and useful for endgame content. Angela buff was simple, but the added utility: Parry non-contact, resistance to damaging debuffs and autoblock couter made her more valuable for all levels of players. I hate it characters we have multiple versions have their own unique identity and usefulness but solo champs have no place in the game. Look at Spider-Man champs as an example, Starky, Stealthy, S2099, Miles all have their unique usefulnes in the meta. However, the entire Guadian of Galaxy is useless (yes even StarLord needs some love). Gamora buff was a good opportunity and feels wasted imo. I have Stealthy, and S2099 both at r3 and Miles (r2) is going to r3 this level up. How many more Spideys do I have to rankup? I was hoping for Gamora rank up, and buffs to #Guardian of the Galaxy. At this point, will happen in my dreams.
