Sorry but no, I’m TB since quite a while now and the above does not stand.
Mostly gold issues appear to people who do not whale out on Cavalier crystals, which leads to massive dupe and excess iso, which they will eventually sell for gold.

Exactly.... or does enough content to end up with a lot of items in stash every week and up having to sell them all.
I'm always low gold. I'm at 105 right now but in saying that I have to aggressively rank a ton to get rid of overflow which in fact is compounded by not having the sigil. 150k less a week just from the gold quest alone and less inventory space doesn't help. It can be stayed on top of with smart moves and active questing as I don't arena much anymore. In a 30 day window before cats expire I can easily grind what I need to use what I got in overflow. Just gotta keep moving and work your overflow correctly.
In saying that it annoys me that t2a is too valuable too sell but no problem it disappearing into the abyss from overflow.
can't believe dna just said that champion acquisition is a big source of gold
Well let me put it this way: I have 311 million gold. Champ duplication indirectly accounts for a significant fraction of that (I always have the right class ISO so my gold costs are lower, and I'm always selling ISO by the truck load). Whether someone thinks a significant fraction of 311 million is a big source or not is I suppose a subjective judgment on their part.
