Streamline Battlegrounds by shaving off unnecessary waiting time

I think BGs can be made to go much quicker and thus be more enjoyable if the game shaves off waiting time during various points of the BGs experience. I know that if both you and your opponent confirm a screen, or your opponent picks a defender or whatever, then it goes away. The problem comes in when your opponent is afk or trolling, making you sit through every single timer. For example:

1) I don't need to meet my opponent. I cannot tap anywhere to see anything about them here anyway. I don't care who my opponent is. Not a single person has ever thought they need to meet who they will face once in BGs and probably never see again. This should not be a waiting screen, let alone for like 10 seconds.

2) Shave off 10 seconds from the Ban screen. I don't think I've ever seen myself or my opponent need 30 seconds for this. This could be cut down to 15-20 seconds.

3) Opponent Drafts Champions could lose 8 seconds or so. It's not that hard to pick 1 champ. 7 seconds tops.

4) Draft 2x Champions. Same thing as above. Nobody ever needs 25-30 seconds to pick 2 champs. This should be 15 sec at most.

5) Round 1 begins, Round 2 begins, Round 3 begins. I know how rounds work. We don't need to sit on these screens for like 3 seconds. Get rid of them. Imagine a screen like that after every arena fight that's unskippable. It's useless.

6) Picking defenders and attackers - make these 7-8 seconds. Don't need more than that realistically.

7) Get Ready to Fight! Yes I'm ready. Even if I need to pick a pre-fight, it should take no more than 5-6 sec, not 11.

8) Match Results: This one is the worst. I get people want to see their results, but there's no point of this being like 10+ seconds. Make it 3 sec, and put this info in the BGs history. You already have the match results, just let users tap on the individual rounds to see this info. This is akin to having a 10 second screen that shows your new overall AQ score every time you defeat a node. If someone wants to see this, 3 sec is enough to screenshot it. Or they can check the fight after the round in the match results if Kabam can add this info into that match history section. Worse yet, people who lose the first two rounds will sit here and stare at this screen for the full timer, not knowing they can forfeit since they already lost anyway.

As a reminder, yes I know this goes faster if the opponent is actively playing. I've been grinding battlegrounds in the last week and the amount of matches where someone is afk is probably like 30-40% of my matches. It's literally become Waitinggrounds. None of these timers are even the match itself which if you use suicides or burst damage champs, you finish the fight in like 30 seconds and have to wait another 1:30 for your opponent to finish. Fair enough though, no issues with the match timer. But the other timers outlined here are just way too much. Please cut them down or remove some of them to streamline this game mode.

You mean daily objectives ? Cause silver isn't grinding the VT milestones.

Back to topic yeah some stuff could go faster but I disagree with most of your suggestions

Can grind the solo event milestones in whatever

Those timer save us when their server times out. Also we need time to activate pre fights.

The selection time i use for re-rolls. Usually i save for last round of selection. It's fun.

    Re-roll can reset the timer.

I will agree that the match results extra waiting time is completely unnecessary. What do I need those 10, or 25 seconds after the results? To stretch my legs? Go to the bathroom? Answer the phone? Make a cup of tea (Seatin ref)?

Gonna have to agree on needing the full 30 seconds for deck bans. The champion selection I also want the full allotted time because I need to decide on if I need a specific counter to whom they’ve drawn, or if I need to proactively draft a counter that they might draft in a later round

    1) fully agree, this is pointless
2)I ALWAYS use me full alloted time to ban champs so hard disagree there
    3) Same as 2, though I am more conscious about the time and tend to have a champ lined up with 2 seconds to spare
    4) Same as above
    5) Fully agree, another pointless thing
    6) Same as 2 or 3
    7) Don't agree here either, there is literally a button there to skip that timer should you both wish to do so, that never use to be there and we HAD to wait the 11 seconds
    8) Fully agree here too

Yes yes yes !! I really do not like BG due to one Match feels like an eternity! Please cut the waiting times, also better for the servers (probably)

I agree with the general sentiment that there are areas where time could be shaved off for a smoother playing experience, but I disagree with most of the actual suggestions that you've come up with.

1, 5 & 8) These ones I agree with fully. Either cut down the timers significantly or just remove entirely.

    2) It takes time to look through the opponent's 30 champions and decide which of them would be most advantageous to them or hardest for you to defeat, and which of those you can ban without sacrifice your own corresponding champions in the process. Sometimes it's easy, but sometimes it's really hard. Especially when you move upward in the ranking and the opponents get tougher and tougher with much beefier rosters.

3, 4 & 6) It sounds like you don't put too much effort into drafting your champions. I don't mean that as a knock against you, I'm just saying that there are people who do take longer figuring out who to place on both offense and defense than you seem to want to. It's personally one of the aspects of BG that I enjoy the most. Sometimes you have the perfect counters so you can quickly get it over with, but other times you might have a less ideal counter and have to figure out who might either score you an unexpected win or, in some very dire circumstances, you don't mind sacrificing because you know you won't be able to win that round no matter what.

    7) People need to be able to apply pre-fights. If you've got even a slightly slow connection and need to apply two or three pre-fight abilities, those 11 seconds burn away very quickly.

You are in silver with a few days to go bro.

What does that have to do with anything? I'm grinding for the solo milestones, not gladiator circuit.
You aren't participating in competitive BGs so it is no wonder why you don't need to want time to think and plan your drafts.

Sure, pay us 10$ every month so that we give you BG express mode in the next QoL update

If you had just said cut down the meet your match screen time, the post-fight screen time and the post-match screen time I would’ve been on board, but most of this is a terrible idea.
  • ahmynutsahmynuts Member Posts: 7,615 ★★★★★
Most of your suggestions do not factor in any kind of strategy or analysis. That is why you being in silver matters, you obviously haven't needed to apply any of it yet which is why you think those times can be reduced

Have you ever tried activating Mr. Fantastic pre-fights?
  • IamnikeIamnike Member Posts: 268 ★★
Nah bro the timers are mad necessary, sometimes the extra time to think about bans, champs to use on attack, who to use on defense, and who to use when throwing a round can be the difference between winning and losing. Like football battlegrounds is a game of inches.

Not quoting the entire OP just to reply to it would save time.

And what time would that save? Like half a millisecond? It takes next to no time at all to hit "quote".

Talk about moaning for the sake of moaning 😂

For the people scrolling through it. Not for the person qouting it
Ahhh I see .... not my problem though, I scroll through tons of that every other day but I feel zero need to moan about it lol.

Can't be just throwing messages around without replying to the person who you want to reply to 🤷‍♂️

Even then though.... it takes nothing more than a millisecond to scroll past that so yeah, moaning for the sake of moaning.

Personally I like the time in-between. If I'm grabbing a coffee, or stirring food on the stove, or replying to a message, whatever I'm doing at the same time.
I like to multitask. Also, you need time for the server to communicate on both sides.
