Unfortunately, it's how Kabam wanted it to be done. I had a decent win rate higher up but I tilted, lost a few, wasted time, elders marks but in Uru that wasn't a thing so much more value
Unfortunately, you made a choice to do that. Gaslighting to blame Kabam when you blatantly abused the system is not only ignorant, but reflective of a skill issue. Git gud.
It's not abusing the system at all, Kabam openly told content creators there's zero issue with this.
The way they give the rewards means this the best way to maximise reward
I just wish they'd make up their minds. They tell everyone it's a bannable offense to farm, then tell content creators it's ok and won't enforce their own rules.
Farming has always plagued BGs and instead of rewarding more points towards events like these for beating higher ranked players similar to how GC is scored, they continue creating the perfect environment to stifle competitive play and anger smaller accounts so all we hear is how matchmaking is unfair to smaller players. And they're completely validated in their disdain for BGs if they're constantly going against 7r3 maestros with 6r1 champs.
As long as people buy elders and units to farm, they'll continue perpetuating this model because it is clearly profitable. Despite the community complaints from smaller players who don't/won't spend on the game mode, the alliances who farm for millions every season to get top 10 spend considerable amounts to remain in the top 10. And let's be honest, it's for clout, not the paltry rewards.
While BGs is indeed in a broken state, it's still far more enjoyable than AQ or AW imo, so it's where I spend the majority of my MCOC time.
they said it was a bannable offense to farm in VT, Gc was fine, and someone from kabam confirmed that even then.
That warning was the equivalent of a mom telling the kids they have to eat their veggies or the boogie man would come at night...
After 5000 milestones and seeing that all milestones till the end stopped at 5000, i just played to get the banquet tickets and after this to progress to Vibranium.
So...more or less than 5300 👍
And you, Omega Summoner?
Not far off from you point wise, but it was a big enough difference to have 20k summoners between us.

This is the outcome is inevitable with the way Kabam has designed the game. You get more rewards for “grinding” than you do for actually winning and being the best. Not sure on what the direction of the game is at the moment.
If you design a fool-proof system, then someone will quickly discover a way to game that system that technically still fits within the rules while completely defying the intended spirit...
A fool-proof system is no match for a system-proof fool.
A lot of people were farming VT otherwise it wouldn't have been easy to climb to GC this season. I went from Bronze to Uru 3 with less than 5 losses and i am not anywhere near skill level to a lot of players. I continually got valiant accounts forfeiting and giving me free wins. Add that to the lower accounts seeing roster and forfeiting. That means my wins by default outnumbered my actually fought wins.
Not sure if Kabam intended it to be this way with the realm event but its not exactly a satisfying climb to GC. Once i got to GC, i went on vacation so didnt really play much competitive BG this season in GC. Not that i wanted to, intercepting has become a nightmare with this AI
There's a difference between "how it was intended" and "how it ended up"
Lagacy's video covered it very well - the rewards needed to be significantly adjusted to better encourage positive play, but it's nigh on impossible to entirely predict human behaviour and people are always going to find loopholes and ways of doing things contrary to how it was planned (for better or for worse).
If you draw a line in the sand, there will almost always be examples on either side of the line that SOMEONE thinks should be on the other side.
If you design a fool-proof system, then someone will quickly discover a way to game that system that technically still fits within the rules while completely defying the intended spirit. Such is life.
I understand this completely, maybe this wasn't intended but we have seen with previous bonus months how people will farm so this was always going to be the same and Kabam did nothing to alter.
Something like 1000 points per 1 point that you finished in GC with would have made a huge difference and would have forced people to push higher rather than farming.
Then GC rank would be everything, and activity would be nothing. I don't know how Celestial settled out right at the end, but at one point BeroMan had over 900 ELO. There's no way anyone could possibly have scored any significant number of points through game play to challenge 900,000 points. The event would simply devolve to raising the GC rank rewards.
It is easy to say "just do this" and then "oh, if my numbers are wrong just tweak them until they are right" but it is the second part that is the hard part, and just because you can say it doesn't mean it is possible. Just pick an even number between four and six, or find a number higher than twelve and lower than four.
The point to the Realm events is to encourage people to participate. Or actually, that's wrong: it is to encourage people to encourage people to participate. That seems to have gotten lost in the discussions surrounding Realm events. If it was just to get people to participate, there are ways to reach players individually to do that. But that would defeat the purpose of Realm events.
But that's a subtle distinction for another discussion. Either way, if GC ELO scored 1000 points per ELO point, there would be no point in participating if you were not going to land among the top players - in fact if you were not going to finish in Celestial you would already be completely out of reach of the top as the bottom of Celestial was over 200 ELO rating points below the top, and thus over 200,000 points below in scoring.
The Realm event is intended to promote active participation, not to reward the top rank player automatically twice.
Unfortunately, it's how Kabam wanted it to be done. I had a decent win rate higher up but I tilted, lost a few, wasted time, elders marks but in Uru that wasn't a thing so much more value

This is too true, and there's such simple fixes.
Something like, awarding more points for wins in higher tiers so a win in Gamma is worth 1.5x as much in Uru, a win in Celestial is worth 5x a win in Gamma etc would mean you push high because a win at your own level is worth much more than a win at low tier.
They do this in war, a t2 loss earns more points than a t3 win. Why can't they just do the same for BG? It's so so simple
Yeah, just like how they scale points for GC rankings, apply that same scoring principle to elder mark and energy usage and reward people for trying to get better at winning vs better players instead of farming smaller accounts and ruining the experience for all involved.

Yes, I remember. But how many times have you heard of anyone getting banned for staying in VT since then, where most farmers plant their crops?
If there is any way to cheat the system someone will find it and use it. And if it continues, it eventually kills off participation. It is an unfortunate truth and as long as any "Tom, ****, or Harry" can play and you have massive holes that allow for cheating, you will have cheating. this game has been and is rife with cheating almost since the beginning.
