Maybe how much the Players are logged on for. Accumulation of Players base hours played in game.
The contribution minimums would be an incredible source of frustration for players that want everything in two minutes. It would be hilarious to watch though.
It’s really a matter of whether the community would be invested or not, I think my idea should be pretty engaging: It’s all about the bosses of the contest.
Basically, all you need to do is complete certain objectives by beating a boss, complete all 10, and they reset.
For example, for a Valiant, they would need to beat Cerastes, with a champion tagged #Avengers. Then a champion in the Skill Class. Then seperate objectives for Bahemet and Scytails.
For paragons, they would need to complete objectives by beating Gwenmaster, Kang and a 7.1.4/5/6 boss of their choice.
For Thronebreakers, they’d need to complete objectives by beating the more difficult Act 6 bosses, not including GM.
For Cavs, they’d need to complete objectives by beating 5.4 Ultron and 5.2 Collector.
For everybody else they’d need to defeat their respective hardest bosses.
This would be PROGRESSION Based, and would be difficult as not being able to complete the last objective means you won’t be able to collect anything else as it can’t reset.
This would be quite challenging as it requires you to have a varied roster and rank ups that you wouldn’t want, similar to Spirals Royal Hunt.
This, and all ideas like it, would mostly defeat the purpose of the realm events, which is to try to engage as much of the player population as possible. What you're describing is challenge content, and a realm event structured around challenge content would be way too niche. Almost no one is going to want to grind through those, and only those that do will qualify for the rewards.
An event where almost no one participates and almost no one gets rewards is just a Carina's challenge.
