Super unusual question, do any of you guys have a Doctorate?

Not really a doctor, just a dentist.

Seriously though, I'm an MS in earth and planetary science and my company paid for it.

Couldn't possibly be more off topic... but... I'll allow it.

It's not necessarily off topic...if he is seeking from guidance from the contest doctors. Perhaps Dr. Doom is just bitter and avoiding the thread since Kabam hasn't made him as a 7*.
shuri is also pretty good at Wakanda medicine

My eldest sister did 2 degrees and later spent ~10 years working in a dry cleaners.

Were her degrees in textile science?
She did a degree in something to do with computers (I forget what) in the late 80s/early 90s at Oxford Polytechnic, now Oxford Brookes University (not the Oxford university) and later did a degree in English and History at what's now the University of Gloucestershire in '00s. Initially, after the second degree, she had a job in Oxford that was something to do with admin. I forget what. She then had a job with a company involved in 'mystery shopper' tests. She got downsized in the late '00s after the financial crash, if I remember right. She then got the job in the dry cleaners and left in 2020 due to COVID. She's currently unemployed.

My other older sister has a degree in Business Administration from the University of the West of England and a degree in Psychology she did through the Open University. She's currently doing a Masters in Criminal Justice or something, again through the OU. She's been working for one of the police forces for the past 20 years.

I never went to Uni. I didn't want the debt even back in '00. I did 3 years at a local college doing Media. I got a McJob in my first year there in '97 and was in that job 14 years. I was unemployed for 4 years, became carer for my Mum for the next 7 years from '16 until she passed in '23. I'm now in another retail job. I'm not a great fan of the job, but I do like (most of) the people I work with. We're apparently getting an influx of new staff soon, and I wonder how they're going to integrate with us, cuz there's a dozen or so of us who all know one another and get on really well together for the most part. Even me and two of the ladies who haven't been there as long as some.

I have a master s degree in french literature and I m currently working on a doctorat (something equivalent) in piano. And this is pretty hard and time consuming, I need to practice 4-5 hours daily and that may not be enough next year...

I'm starting to wonder if you may be from England.
But seriously, I agree about the Uni debt not being worth it most of the time. It just sucks to hear that this is the case in the UK as much as it is a plague here in the U.S.

This has all been very kind, I should clarify though, I am not looking to go into A.I. What I am looking to do is design curriculum for kids in school to learn how to better use A.I. to backfill the missing education. The problem currently with education is that these kids are so...and I am not being hyperbolic, borderline illiterate in just about all fields of education and general competency (which is fascinating in that we assumed the first generation to grow up entirely with the internet would be the most fluid with accessing technology but its turning out they are amongst the weakest in terms of trouble shooting complexity adaptability) . Teachers, although (hopefully) have a desire to help kids, there's only so much energy we have a day and there are so many kids. If I can help kids understand how to properly communicate with A.I., I can teach them to have a permanent and infinitely patient resource that can fluidly talk back to them and help them uncover whatever it is they missed. The reason for the Doctorate, and to be clear, I am perusing a Doctorate in Education so an Ed.D. is because to implement these type of changes and classes in a school, you have the best chance as a principle/superintendent and in the world of public education, these types of advance degrees are highly coveted. Again though, I am tired, very tired but I can't imagine how much more tired I'm going to be in 5 years from now (if I'm still trapped on this rock lol) so if I were to do it, I feel now is the best time but, man guys, ughhhh...another 4 years of coursework before I can even get to what I want to do...yuk.

Thanks though everyone who's offering me advice, I have been reading every comment. To all the MD/Nurses specifically, thank you for what you do, I know insurance can get in the way but you are all heroes to me.

If you don't mind me asking, which rock are you trapped on? I ask because that happens to be a phrase I'm very familiar with.

I have a bachelor's in organismal biology and planning on starting a masters in (hopefully) terrestrial vertebrates or something akin to that in the fall. Plan on being either a professor at a university somewhere or the main biological entity at a national park/forest at some point. But since I also retired from the military my bachelor's and part of my masters is/was paid for. I like school and learning though.

@Sundance_2099 When I read Oxford and Dry Cleaners, I legitimately gasped. Thank you for clarifying there’s more than one. I live in the States but Oxford is still very well known here as a very prestigious school and that was simply a reality I wasn’t prepared for…I guess unless the schooling broke her and the dry cleaning offered her a unique serenity.

@DNA3000 currently I’m up in New England, but I’ve lived all over the place, so I’m not sure where I picked up that expression, probably when I lived in Hawaii for a while. But yeah, dude, I’ve lived just about everywhere from England to China to Brazil. The only place that I haven’t moved to and to be honest, I haven’t even visited is Africa. The closest I think I got was Abu Dhabi.

@Raganator Here's my stats (I'll try to be brief to not waste to much of your time in case you read this):

    Age: 37
    Degrees:
    B.A: Pure Mathematics/Computer Science
    M.S: Cybersecurity

I have been teaching at a high school now for about 7 years. My goal is to help students empower themselves with A.I. to help backfill the large gaps of education missing from COVID as well as to help combat the neurological effects of constant internet access and short form content like TikTok (attention deficits). The best way to go about this is by becoming a principle. Now you don't need a Doctorate to do this, but to impose a new type of curriculum, the expertise that come with this title will definitely help stream line this process. I guess for me, it is exactly like you said, I'm at a point in my life where my decisions are heavily weight on wether or not something will make me happy. My mortality is becoming increasingly clear in very visceral ways and the finality of my time is growing increasingly more valuable. Also, it took me a long time to understand that when I make a decision, its impact is not in that moment but when the decision concludes. In other words, I'm considering a Doctorate now at 37 which isn't so old but it concludes at 41~, which although still not old, its much older and a much later date to start something from the beginning (i.e. becoming a principle). So its tricky dude, I really am quit confused. My passion will always be Pure Mathematics, but the best way I can serve my community is via education and I believe querring A.I. will be similar to typing when I was a kid. A skill that you took classes on, put on resumes, got certified in, but now would look so strange to see on a resume. I don't really want to go to school anymore, but I also feel a sense of duty to these kids that are so fu**ed...Tough dude, but thank you though for the advice.

I can't believe I'm reading this in a game forum but here goes

Firstly the goal is established, to help young students at high school level, target position is principal, that's highly conflicting bcos in an education system, the principal is actually in charge of management of the school, not setting a new curriculum, setting of curriculum is at the ministry level at least in my country, yes a principal can kickstart some new AI related program for students to participate in but that would be something similar to getting an outsourced instructor to teach some non examinable subjects like programming and building robots

Secondly, I haven't seen any real life principal with a PhD bcos those pursuing PhD usually end up doubling down and pursue post doctorate and also tenure as a professor working at the university level where academics is very highly valued than at the high school level

Thirdly you are considering a doctorate which is good, upgrading yourself is always good but you should try pursuing your stated goals first without a doctorate and review the real life results, you may end up achieving your goal without even needing a doctorate which will come with a study loan

Fourthly, you may consider a wider platform like youtube to provide resources for young students to make use of AI to improve their educational situation, you may end up helping more young people and getting more worldwide recognition, the recognition you get will help you in getting more resources to pursue your end goal whatever it is.

Lol I'm originally from HI, can name drop the Senator as a classmate, which definitely dates and locates me so I'll leave it at that.
My wife spent 14 years of undergrad/med school/ residency/ fellowship interspersed with a year off between ug and med for sanity sake and residency and fellowship to have our first kid, and currently is in year 15 of being an attending doc at a well known NYC hospital and year 3 of being a director of medicine there. One of her college friends did MD-PHD only to quit her research job and enroll in Law school, and she now has spent the last 8 years as a patent lawyer at a famous DC firm. Another friend did the opposite, went to law school and did immigration law for years before quitting and enrolling in med school, and is now private practice with enough free cash to be a VIP WWE fan and go to every big show and hobnob with Logan Paul and such.

They all put the time and money in and eventually got to the $450k+ life. They also enjoy what they do. If you're chasing money, that's one thing. If you're looking for happiness, it may come with crippling debt, but it's true that money can't buy happiness. Good luck.

Also OP, if your situation is weighing on your mind, some perspective: my baby brother is your age, finished high school in '05 and had worked a total of 30 hours part time at a Taco Bell (all in '10) over the last 20 years. He currently spends his days milking his inheritance and being an edgelord playing WoW, Overwatch and now, ironically, Marvel Rivals in my parent's condo (no basement for him). He's who you should be glad you're not, and who you don't want your students to become.

@Crcrcrc So it’s definitely different for everyone but if I could redo anything over as far as my academic pursuits go, is I wish I just got my degrees back to back to back instead of taking time off. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the traveling and the partying and whatever shenanigans I got up to (at one point I moved to a Buddhist temple in the Kunyu Shan mountain range in China to learn kung fu and try and join the UFC…true story…spoiler…I broke my knee and had to come back to the states) but every time I paused, it was so much harder to go back. If you can, just go for it. May I ask what you’re thinking about getting it in?

@klobberintyme Ahhhh yes, Millennial entropy…If we don’t consistently put in mass amounts of energy, our natural tendency is to return to that sweet sweet basement.

Cool. If you left before 2016, on your next visit head to Pipeline bakeshop on Waialae, right at the bottom of Koko head ave (the fire station is at the top). Best malasadas on the island. You know how malasadas get the next morning, where the sugar has turned to goo? For some reason those don't do that. Excellent dessert and then morning after breakfast.
