To dumb down what my point is. It isn't that they're trying to make money or that we have to pay for some things. Like I said. That's fine. But the issue is in how it is presented to us and in the fashion it is presented.

"Look at this cool chanp you've been waiting for!" Gonna have to pay for the dupe tho

"Look at this cool special champ we've been hyping up which it's predecessor and deathless counterparts you could all get for free!" Gonna have to pay for this one tho lol

"Look at this absolutely AWESOME buff for an amazing champ you guys have wanted and voted for!" Gonna have to pay for it tho

"Look at this cool 7* champ that we're releasing!" Gonna have to pay for him tho (even though he isn't amazing and they could have easily made a way for us to earn it) etc. Etc.

Its not that these things exist. Its how they hype it up and then rapid fire back to back to back to back shoot us in the face with the monetizing.
Like we cant even take a second to appreciate how effing cool some of it is and have a flicker of hope we can somehow earn it before John or Mike goes "gotta cough up that dough tho"

I mean , how else are they going to present it? They have to Introduce the champs and also how to acquire them. Else people are going to complaining that Kabam hid that they could only be bought (for the time).

To be frank, that's a you thing. New things are almost always monetized in this game, and always have been. There's no "here it is" and then six months later "okay, now we're going to try to make money off of it." The main mode of monetization for MCOC has always been to sell early access. That's always been the best part of the monetization of this game: you don't pay to have things no one else gets to have, you mostly pay just to get them sooner, while everyone else does get to have them later. Very few things are actually paywalled, and even those things tend to eventually get un-walled (think Redpool).

Now, they could separate the announcement and the details of what things will cost, but that's much much worse. Just to satisfy your sense of "show me the thing without bothering me with the monetization so I can bask in it for a while" you'd be asking Kabam to deliberately withhold the costs of things? I would say that they would rather have your complaint rather than the complaint that Kabam was hiding costs.
i think this is a pretty fair game for f2p and they should paywall champs like they've always done so no issue there. the worry is if future end game content will be eidol-gated just like the deathless quest needed to get thanos and if they can only get picked up through cash offers instead of doing consistent content like last year.
Eidols will still go to the basic pool though.

Its 4 champs but call it 3 since DDHK is not getting a rework and he is kinda meh....
So out of the 3 how many will be great?...
Isophyne was a bit of a let down for me at least.
    Its all about the FOMO

What do you mean?!? mystic gambit is great when they crit 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah when.... I mean we had a champ with 6 arms that managed to miss during a special... Now one with 4... Keep it simple Kabam 2 arms win.

These eidols don't even have any more so they actually have to be insane damage wise to make people buy them.
  • Tempest_024Tempest_024 Member Posts: 144
Since I don't play AQ, AW, or really BGs much, all these new champs have nothing really to offer me. There's no need. Isophyne was a pretty big letdown that I don't really care about Eidols now. I feel like they have to hype these things up because honestly, why do we need them? There's no pressure like deathless champs, which built up to something. Just new champs to sell to the one's that want to stay at the tippy top of things, which isn't needed to play this game.

I strongly believe competive ranks in all game modes are paywalled, wonder if they will someday get unwalled 🤔

People keep mentioning the Eidols getting a final quest like the Deathless did. Do we know that’s happening? I don’t remember that announcement ever being made.

I am guessing they would have announced it at the beginning.. I just hope they are semi trophy champs.

Yeah, I think they’re just a set of cool-looking champs with a unique mechanic (fractured power bar). There’s been no mention so far of any content they’ll be mandatory for. And to reiterate what has been said in this thread, they will go to the basic pool with time. I think Isophyne is four months out from the basic now? Or maybe it’s six with this new cadence (I really don’t like the new cadence).

They will, probably around the time they announce a game shutdown. Otherwise how is the company supposed to make profit?
I don't see Fornite having any trouble making profit off of skins which don't give any playing benefits...

Because their profit comes from skins. Different type of game, different way of making profit. Fortnite is not a gacha game is it?...

Lool my point is that giving spenders benefits during competitive game modes is just laughable. What makes it even crazier is players actually believing they are "competitive" modes. This game is P2W, it definitely isn't P2P but why the hell do I want to keep playing a game that gives me nothing to persue rather than collecting a bunch of champs which mean nothing.

This said, I don't care if they introduce Wolverines grandson or Infernal Reloaded Epoch or if Act 1million has T50CC selectores when they're game modes are tied behind a PayWall Design Wise. 🤣

Kabam feels the pressure to provide good financial results every quarter so they have to sell something every month

If not who will pay the salaries for all the employees?

It's a business after all even though to you it's just a game

Yeah dude, I buy a lot of deals but it starting to just feel overwhelming and not worth trying to keep up. Like it's really starting to feel like a genuine bill to stay relevant.

Kabam can do whatever they want.

You may disagree, but nothing will end this... How do you have a store and dont sell items, only give for free???

    Its a you problem

It's not pay to play. It "pay to get early". You can absolutely not pay a dime in this game and still do everything. You can totally wait and still get the champs in basics later.

with that mentality you’ll be 80 years old waiting for eidols to cycle into the basic

it’s not about getting it early, it’s about the fact that if you don’t pay, you fall behind, you fall behind and they will release a crazy counter to whatever it is you were trying to get, then you’ll fall behind on that. It’s a trap, and the only key is to pay.
It’s always been like this though. Ever since the days of features crystals. You guys are acting like they’ve always given everything for free day 1. Whales will whale. F2P will wait. And as for falling behind, falling behind in what? Valiants have been at the ceiling since day 1, And everyone who wanted to catch up did. There are accounts less than a year old completing EoP.

If it’s BGs you’re referring to then yes, in the only competitive game mode you will not be as advanced as those prepared to pay.
