Feedback taken. Our original intent here was to offer Something for all viewers ( Twitch Drops ), and limited avenues for players to win valuable prizes (Currently there's 5 Titan Crystals, 5 Champion Choice Giveaways ). Secret codes were meant to give another limited avenue for people to win something aside from the raffle style giveaways.

What was the code and prize?
The code was stingerandamiss dont know what the rewards were though

I understand the intentions are good, I mean is giving away free stuff to people after all.
On your side you need to understand that some people make the effort to stay informed and watch the stream. It could be at work, or while doing other things. They are making an effort to engage to you guys and maybe a scavenger hunt is not the best way to give those gifts. Personally if I lose on a give away raffle the only thought that comes to mind is "Oh that sucks, some other lucky son of a gun got it, oh well" waiting for a secret hint, making sure i find it and then rushing to the store to see if I got it right is a whole different story.
There is another thing about the secret code, it was never revealed at the end, winners weren't announced, and we don't even know what the prize was. That leaves a lot of room for some of the usual complainers to question of its real, if its fair or rigged.
I would try to avoid the headaches; but that's just me
They did reveal what the promo code was it was stingerandamiss they mentioned it multiple times at the end of the stream

Didn't they say it was 2 codes? Or was it 1 code for 2 people?.. see even that is freaking confusing.

@KabamDORK my actual feedback would be that it was very hard to determine the code in the stream. I like the idea of engagement in the live stream. This one flowed much better. I'm not even that upset it was limited but it could have been explained better.

Other feedback is that the drops could be updated. At least the energy drop.

As compensation for my pain and suffering, I'll take a 7* awakened Silver Centurion at sig 200 and R4. It's not too much to ask. Right?

I really don't get how you at Kabam do your reasonings; i can understand and i like the idea of a "secret" promo code, but once it is "discovered" just let people use it for a certain amount of time (like during the livestream),
why would you make it available for a small number of users, what is the point?...

Do you think players will find it funny try finding out what the code is (now and in the future) and then typyng it in and get: "You have reached the coupon redemption limit."?!? Loads of fun, right?!?!

You could make it better by giving the first (five?, ten?, twenty?) to redeem the code the best rewards and then for the others "lesser rewards", still wouldn't cut it for me, but it would be a much better system.

Oh and the answer given in chat that was explainig the code had VERY limited uses because the reward was much better than a reunion crystal, do you think that helps you in any way or it may cause more backlash than ever?!?

It is just bad ideas, bad communication and bad design..............and in the worst possible moment...

Is it better to give 1x Titan Nexus Crystal to 5 players or to give 5000 7* shards to everyone using the code during the livestream?!?
(i have no idea of the code reward i'm just trying to make an example)

Conversely, I don't understand or relate to this line of thought at all. What's the point of having people hunt for a code, when if it is usable in an unlimited fashion by any number of people then no one actually has to hunt for it, because the first person to find it will just share it with everyone and then everyone will get it for zero effort. This makes the effort put into finding it completely worthless, which means by extension the rewards associated with it can never be more than token rewards.

I remember a game I played a while ago where there was an in-game puzzle you had to solve. What many players did not know was that there was a random element to the puzzle, such that one player's solution would not necessarily work for anyone else, even though the puzzle appeared on the surface identical. Some players got this immediately. Some players went completely ballistic, complaining that this was some incredibly stupid idea that prevented players from "helping each other" and causing nothing but bad feelings with no upside. I remember one player's exact words were "I can understand having a difficult puzzle in the game, but once the solution is found why not just let everyone use that solution."

I know people think this way. I just have no idea why.

Personally, I enjoy figuring things on my own
However there are people that don’t enjoy it
If everyone’s solution is the same, we have two options, try to get it on our own or look it up, it’s up to us
If it isn’t you are forced to try to get it yourself even if you don’t like that
While it’s the devs decision to go whichever way they want, there are bound to be people that don’t like it

Will def be taking the feedback. Idea with them is to add a fun additional layer of activity and engagement with the stream....did not anticipate twitch not having the drops on, kind of changed the equation a bit. Regardless though, appreciation the feedback

So this makes it what, the 4th time since Twitch drops have been introduced and the 4th time they haven't worked correctly?

How many times do you guys have to fail to realize that something needs to change?
I wanna push back on this slightly. It is true that some players had issues with drops previously. However, from what we can see the majority of folks were able to collect twitch drops without an issue in previous iterations. The (still important) minority that had issues is something we want to work to improve on, but fundamentally the system worked.

This time the campaign was not live at the correct time, which is a separate issue and one we will review and make sure is corrected.

Ultimately, codes or drops need to have a purpose behind them for us to justify giving them away. We want to work towards giving better rewards but for that to happen we need a system like drops that rewards folks specifically for watching, not just entering a code. There have certainly been roadbumps along the way but its a system we're committed to working with and improving on.

I appreciate the feedback and understand the frustration, but just wanted to lay out our perspective here. Thanks
You are underestimating that minority. Every time you guys do Twitch drops, the forums is flooded with posts due to problems. The worst part is that Kabam support has 0 control over the issues and they redirect you to contact twitch support who then also cant do anything. Why use twitch drops if you guys dont have control?
  • benshbbenshb Member Posts: 918 ★★★★★
It would be good to know what were the 2 secret code rewards. If it was something like the twitch drop, then it's okay, I know it won't worth my effort to chase it. But if it's something like a 7* or a titan crystal, than it's super messed up to change how this code-system works. And like everyone says, I couldn even focus on the stream itself searching for clues on the "who-knows-if-its-worth-it" rewards.

People think this way, because they assume that for the same action there is the same outcome. You know the saying to expect otherwise is madness.

There is nuance, in that they didn't put the code in as one of the first participants, whether or not they did the work to figure it out themselves. At its core people are expecting "put in code, get prize".

We've always had a time zone problem with "global" games. They put out a post about time zones and we are still in the same place in relation to community sentiment.

The hunt just exacerbates it. From the perspective of someone that's had their fair share of staying awake or getting up at ungodly hours to participate in this stuff (and not just MCOC). Putting in the effort to get up and "participate" when you are not the most alert and come out with nought doesn't seem worthwhile.

I'm aware that this is all just experimentation so they can ramp up to more tangible rewards for active participants, but the more they fail at this, the more it discourages and turns people away.

My opinion is it giv angry towards a already very bad state of the game making this worst in a sense because we already have a hard time with the game this take a step further backwards

i don’t mind promo code being hidden but making them good and limited it to how many people is where it when Wrong it a evil cycle of anger that could ben prevent happy sesing you and address why you guys did it that’s cool.

For the love of god please just make it a promo code on the website - that's what the playerbase wants. I feel bad for all the people who have been waking up early in the morning to leave the Twitch stream running so that they can get the same rewards that players who live in the "correct" timezone get - which isn't equitable.

I know your KPIs are important but the trade-off is player goodwill..
You want them to make promo codes for the website to encourage twitch stream viewership?

You say "that's what the playerbase wants." No it is not. Half the playerbase (if not more) doesn't even use the webstore, and would still be left out. What the playerbase wants is for the rewards to just automagically appear in their accounts without having to do anything or go anywhere.

Everyone says the line is drawn wrong, and should be drawn somewhere else instead. And coincidentally, it is always just behind their feet when they do.

Full disclosure: the streams start at 6AM local time for me, so I'm mostly missing out on everything in them myself. I would prefer not to, but I understand encouraging people to tune in. I would hope the playerbase has enough adults in it who see it the same way.
That's very accommodating of you to see an inherent issue of unfairness (being sleep while the stream happens and rewards are given out), and for you to be personally affected by it - but to still have no problem with it

I'd say you are far more tolerant and understanding than others that I've heard from over recent months who are also affected.

Your argument about half the playerbase not having the webstore, I'm guessing is insider information that you're privvy to? If so, have you removed accounts that are not active (i.e. login every day) from your data? Have you also removed "alt-accounts"? If PROPER data sanitation has been done then fair enough and I'll concede that I've been proven wrong.

I would be shocked if people who play every day and take the same seriously have never created a Xolla account in recent years.

(I truly respect your take on things, and view this as healthy mutually-respectful dialogue between peers)

Some don't trust Xolla. Even for me, years ago, I used Xolla to purchase stuff in War Thunder and each time I did, Bank of America flagged it and locked my account and sent me a new debit card. Happened 3 times even after talking to BoA.

But I'd say it's more people that can't link their game to webstore.

Why do you guys treat your players like trash man I don’t get it. Why do you hate us so much. Why is it so hard just to give every player a prize. Disgusting behavior and then you come on here and say we will take feedback like honestly what a slap in the face. Disgusting people man

so everyone wants a participation ribbon? they could give every person 50x 7* SHARDS, or hold a contest, speed challenge, ect for the first X summoners to break the code and win a bigger prize.

guess what…? everyones not a winner. big deal. go play the lottery and complain how the state hates you because you never win the jackpot an see how far that gets ya

Okay, so MCOC needs a box where players can add a promo code to redeem items WITHIN the MCOC game itself to overcome the issues with relying on third parties such as Twitch and Xolla.

It's much less about being able to create an Xolla account than them not remembering their credentials for the game. Or the original email they had no longer exists etc...

Okay, so MCOC needs a box where players can add a promo code to redeem items WITHIN the MCOC game itself to overcome the issues with relying on third parties such as Twitch and Xolla.
No, they just need to stop giving free stuff due to people's ungrateful entitlement.

Thanks

No. People just need to realize they can't have everything every time. Do you think F2P are owed all the deals that spenders can get because they can buy things?

If they say "you have to watch the stream for these codes" then you should have to watch the stream for the codes. You don't get the twitch drops unless you watch the stream. How's it any different?

They literally can't stream 24/7 to make sure to involve everyone. These things are to drive viewers to the stream. The point isn't just to give everyone free stuff even if they didn't watch.

Horrible analogy. This isn't the lottery.
