guys, don't ask for any currency exchanges involving arena. trust me.
I just don't see a point to keeping arena around at this point, it has always felt like a chore and will always feel like a chore so what's the point?
It's the only reason why the so called Gold and ISO droughts are fake claims. I am ok with arenas, I just think the arena Champion chases are useless though.
If arena currency and BG are the same, couldn't I just grind arena and spend big on the BG store without ever playing BG's which also means never needing to rank champs for that specific game mode.
Arena is mindless and boring (I like that) and units are the most important in game currency, I can't see a change to either without ending up worse off and Kabam have basically said that already.
Radiance is not an initiative to combine currencies, it's an initiative to align ranked rewards in competitive modes. The Radiance store will be the most premium store in the game, you definitely won't be able to convert existing currencies into Radiance.
Because the store is premium, it means there will be less access to lower level catalysts and materials for some players in AW and AQ because currently those ranked rewards include a bunch of lower level stuff. So we will likely allow the conversion of Radiance into a lower currency.
If the Radiance project goes well, and players like it, we are talking about combining a bunch of the other currencies into one as well, but we will see how Radiance goes first.
Please combine battle chips with BGs tokens nobody wants to grind arena for fun anymore these days cause it feels like a chore I'm begging lol.
When did people ever grind arena for fun? It was always a chore that was somewhat necessary.
Two people in my alliance do it for fun, "I get to use champs I rarely use" is what they say.
Don’t touch arena I need it for when I low one unit.
I said combine trophy tokens and battle chips so we can get units without grinding arena, why would you be against that? Lol
They won't let you do BG s for units.
You work for Kabam? I had no idea you had insider information, apologies.
There is practically zero chance they would like people grind Battlegrounds for units.
In this case, yes, I do have insider information. I was involved with the arena refactor when the arenas collapsed from four to three, I was in the closed testing for Battlegrounds before it released to the playerbase and I've had conversations with developers on both sides of the fence. To the best of my knowledge, no one ever said "it will be a cold day in Gehenna before we allow people to grind BG for units" but believe me when I say, if I had to bet actual cash on whether grinding BG for units would arrive in the next hundred years or never, I would give ten to one odds on "never."
Even if arena disappeared tomorrow I would still place the odds of this happening at 100 to 1 against. While arena actually exists the odds are a billion to one against.

f2p is the backbone of this game. even if they don't currently spend, the game is structured to one day hopefully convert them into paying players. and that is the arena's longstanding function imo, which is to allow players to be able to farm hard currency and survive and thrive in the game long enough to one day realize that it's a game worth spending on.
if they suddenly removed all units from arena, and everyone who needed units were forced to spend, this game would die immediately.
i know you're not asking for units to be removed altogether, just sent elsewhere, but that's also another disaster because we all know what's going to happen: kabam will stuff them into more gamemodes creating more workload for players, which we know kabam doesn't want because they've said they want a more streamlined more simpler game, and players would cry because they'd need to do more work for the same amount of units.
but let's think about what would happen if they erased arena and spread the units. which modes would you put the units and battlechips into? alliance based ones? what if you're not in an alliance? what if you don't do war? kabam said BGs is niche, so they wouldn't go there. would they go to AQ? why would kabam give free units to players for doing AQ?
the super event? no, that's way too easy.
EQ? that would be insane because it's only once a month. if there are say 8k units a month available from arenas, would they just add them all difficulties of EQ? it would make sense that most of them would go to the highest difficulty, but what about progressing players who don't have the latest titles yet? ok..so spread them out evenly? why would proven difficultly get 1k units for practically doing nothing?
see how complicated it is?
arena is that one missssssssssssssserable game mode that offers good stuff if you don't mind the massive amount of suffering. you have a choice, either spend your life grinding it out in the arenas or become a spender. it's not there to be fun, and we can't add it to the fun modes because pain is entirely the point.
sorry about the half-assed rambling, i'll just end it here.
There's various options; and Kabam may not have the perfect answer yet - it's a tricky thing to balance, so they may not have fully decided yet.
If they're intruding yet ANOTHER new currency, they sure as all heck better know exactly what they're doing and where they're going with it by now.
This is part of the problem they've had in the past - like introducing Mysterium and then having it completely stagnate immediately.
The goal isn't to be a new currency, but to consolidate currencies in competitive modes. They talked about it in the BG post Crashed made awhile ago now.
I'm pretty sure the main idea is that 1 store is a whole lot easier to update and keep current than 4 stores.
I agree. And that's a new currency, literally like Crashed said. I was just responding to the person who said 'maybe they're still trying to figure it all out.' Which hopefully, is a crazy thought, because they should have a full plan for this, like you're sort of mentioning.
I dont really understand the comparison people make to the mysterium store where it was good first then became stale. In the age of t4a, tht store doesnt even have 5% t6cc , yes there are few t6b and t3a, but tht store was bad from the very moment it was released.

Why are you just looking at the store and currency without looking at the difficulty level of the source to get it?... SQ rewarding t7b is pretty wild
thts fair tbh but now tht even daily super even is gonna offer a tiny amount of t7b, maybe the mysterium store can get t4a ( yes 1 step behind but nonetheless)
Having battlechips on bgs is a very very bad idea. It means low level players can never get any battlechips. This game is not only for valiants. While arenas are boring and I never do it, it is the best place for battlechips.
Said that, They definitely need to change sunday arenas, Instead of useless cats at least give us something like revives and potions or X P tokens.

Competitive Currency means those who spend money to whale out.
So is just another currency? And if it goes well, maybe you will combine some other currencies? How do you define success for this new currency?
I’m sorry but that really disappoints me. The game is bloated and part of the reason you are struggling to maintain the stores is because you have too many currencies. I was really hoping that radiance was going to be the step in eliminating currencies and allow you guys to actually manage your game. But no, it is just another currency like mysterium that will look good to great when it launches and out of date in six months with no plans to make changes.
I share this concern. If it’s just another currency and it’s not an effort to simplify the existing ecosystems then I don’t see how that addresses the maintenance challenges the exist now.
Perhaps the devil is in the details though. Like all high value items are moved to the Radiance store from the existing stores. And those become locked as mode specific stores. Then it would be easier to maintain the one high value store only. I could see that helping at least.
But I dunno, current track record with new currencies just means more complexity in acquiring things with less maintenance for all things leading to the currency being undesirable.

I agree with this comment. How are Kabam planning to ensure they don’t make the same mistakes they’ve done in the past and 6 months down the line we’re not complaining about another store/currency being out of date. Their track record on this topic doesn’t fill me with much hope.
