Should the Legend title really be given on luck?

RceusRceus Member Posts: 15
In all honesty, the new event is nothing short of gambling. But, I do not have any issue with it because it is well designed.

When I started playing it and pulled some good hands, it was the first time that I was really satisfied after so much time. It gave the same feeling as opening first 6* crystals. But after accumulating too many points for the weekly event I started of the royale flush, and the coveted "LEGEND" title. Still doing the 30 energy ones to save time and my energy. By that time I have gotten the 3rd best reward so many times. Day 1 of the event ends here.

Start of the day 2 grind. It started of with me calculating the best scenarios to bet on. The chances of getting a flush after a good initial hand. I Started with few matches to test my calculations, it was going as intended. I was getting closer but not quite there. It had looked grind-y even on paper, but I had time. Or so I thought, now I am doing nothing but 10 energy ones. Exiting out of matches even after getting okay hands to not waste any time. Still enjoyable.

The third day. Same strategy, same approach. I had been close to the flush that I had lost count. Just one number here, a colour there; and I'd be a legend. But it never came. "Almost" was nothing new now. 750, 800, 1500 were now just numbers. Reaching to Lonewolf after third replacement even after starting with The Fourth echelons and The Captain's ones. Then I thought, does it really matter. Now I am thinking of leaving the game during a very successful Raid period for my alliance. The fact that I was willing to grind for a title, was enough to wake me up. I'll still be playing, completing daily supers, some arenas and I'll be looking forward to the Banquets, but rushing to next progression title the day it drops? or the new everest content?

I play this mode for the points and not titles. I care more about the rewards than anything else. I never really understood the need for this many titles and icons.

Agree, but I am not really talking about self-control. It's only needed if the person is harming someone or oneself. In this condition nothing as such is happening. If we have to talk about control, there will be many people playing this game mode with way less self-control. I haven't spent a single penny on this game, and don't spend more that a couple hours everyday.
My question is simple. The title which had so much value, it required to carry out some Herculean tasks to get; should it now be handed out by luck?
I know it's entirely the decision of the game team, but devalue-ing such a rare in-game item is not really ideal. And this degrading value of the title made me realise the path the game team has decided to follow. Which is why the partial retirement.

To each to his own though.

Who cares about the legend title.

You know there is a saying in my language, Nine days of new things.
But you not liking something as much as you used to like it doesn't mean that the moments you cherished then, are now worthless.
Still agree it's just a title.

The title/banner was already greatly devalued back in 2023 when they let people revive their way through incursions for it. If anything, RNG is almost (but only almost) better than letting anyone who wants to pay for it have it.

Oh I did not know about the incursions. I started playing around mid 2024.

I don't have a problem with the legends title but it is really outdated. Why do only the krakens get to have a blue legend's title??????

Give us rainbow titles, purple titles, black titles. Adding titles to chase for will add more replayability to the game. You can even add ranked titles to roster grounds so that you can showcase how you're hardstuck in uru with 10+ rank 4s!!!!!

Back in my day, only way to get legend title was to tap light attack for 3 hrs straight on easy event quests and not eat drink or pee in that time, that was the real legend title, all these incursions and card game
    Ones are just imitations

If you're just going for the legends title why on earth are you playing energised? You're cutting your chances to get it to a third

Legend title hasn't meant anything in 8 years. Ever since they put it in monthly EQ speedruns which were incredibly easy. It was not a mark of skill or anything impressive. Just that you had a maxed out champ like Corvus with a bunch of boosts, recoils and energy refills to punch a bunch of 3-Star champs in Heroic/Master difficulty of the monthly EQ. And a fast phone to cut on load times.

Literally none of that is impressive. Who cares.

You had to dedicate a few hours of your life to nothing else. You had to shut off your cellular so you didn't get calls. You had to make everything was ready perfectly because you could've waste one second or you'd chance losing your place(I missed by a couple of minutes a few times). It was so ridiculous I would have to have to play with my phone charging while having an ice pack under it to keep it from overheating. Legends runs were not easy as all the whales would still keep trying for whatever reason even after they had the title and badge. God knows how many times Lagacy hit it. So again not easy to be one of 100 players in the millions playing the game to have everything go exactly right including roster.
Only good thing is they don't give the title anymore just the badge.

Why do people think a title carries so much value should be the real question.

I get my legend title too, but impossible for me te remove my veteran badge on my profile, anyone know how replace it??thx

I was playing for points and happened to get a legends title thrown in. I wasn’t specifically going for the title. I’d be ok if you could remove the banner from your pfp.

I think for this, they should have went with something new that tied into the casino/ card game aspect. That would have been neat.

Out of the "millions" of players you think you were competing with, only 1-2k players actually tried to do a legends run. Especially as the game got older, you could essentially guarantee a legends run since everyone stopped trying to do them. Why do you think Kabam got rid of them?

I did it with an iPhone XR which crashed 8 times and I still landed top 40 lol.

Lagacy wasn't doing monthly EQ runs, though. He was doing new content legend runs. Those are two extremely different things.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you absolutely were NOT going up against millions of players in these runs. Not even remotely close. And not ever.

So, what you’re saying is, essentially this came down to luck also?

There are more forms of self-control than not harming yourself or harming others. Self-control can apply to anything we are compelled to do.
It also applies if you're harming yourself with obsession and compulsion. Just saying, you were pointing out some unmanageability as a result of the game. Might be a good idea to balance how much you try for it.

I kind of think you can buy rank to an extent, but you can’t buy the luck of the draw.
