I’m a big believer in the principle that an elite rank 5 champ is a game changer. You have that with Hyperion. No one will fault you if you wait but... if a Rank 5 Hyperion can take you to the next level of progression in your gameplay, rank him up.
My first 5 Star to Rank 5 was Aegon. I was holding out for Blade because I naively thought Blade was the better champion due to his regeneration. I was also not comfortable holding a long combo and I was scared I was too unskilled to play Aegon. However, I ended up taking Aegon to Rank 5 and I haven’t once regretted it. He has cleared so much content for me (got me the Cavalier title basically singlehandedly) and his combo dynamic has made me a much more skilled player. I still don’t have Blade almost 7 months later but I have completed and explored so much content with Aegon (which has enabled me to take other champions to Rank 5). Hyperion is an awesome champion, in my opinion and experience, use what you have to further your progression in the game.
On top of his abilities which I am sure you are already aware of, including the fact that his dupe makes his furies last long enough to not play ridiculously aggressive to get any decent damage off, he is incredibly versatile due to his animations and power gain. For instance, in fights like Electro, you can just avoid getting hit until power gain takes you to L1, then just intercept his dash with that and only the first hit will do any sort of damage to you. It will also do DoT in the form of incinerate, which is valuable in being a DoT that’s not many are immune to.
After awakening him, he gains access to his best damage cycle if you will. On shorter fights, go with parry medium heavy parry medium heavy intercept five hit combo L2, and if it stuns and they don’t have a ton of power, heavy 5hit L2 again, and if it stuns and they have a lot of power, just do two heavies to get more fury.
If it’s a longer fight, build to L3 first so you get a big damage boost in the cosmic charges, plus infinite power gain, allowing you to chain more L2s.
One final thing, a big part of playing him well is pacing your combos, so if you want to say, throw a special two and you are already in a combo, but you doubt you will reach it, slow down your combo and power gain will kick in and potentially make up the difference.
If you didn’t feel like reading all that, definitely go ahead and use it on Hype. He is definitely worth it and is my favorite currently.
