This is just absurd. What do you mean "serious amounts of T6B and T3A"?
Serious amounts of t3a and t6bc would be amounts, that top at least what you could get today by paying. Anything less, will justify anyone calling the game completely pay to win.

If the only way to avoid being accused of being "pay to win" is for all spending to generate less resources than what can otherwise be earned in the game, this game has been pay to win for quite some time, but it is a kind of pay to win that concerns me exactly not at all. Normally, "pay to win" has deleterious and often dangerous connotations to the success of a game, but that version is so watered down so as to have no real significance that I can think of, so the term becomes meaningless.
In fact, since I believe monetizing impatience is the best of all possible F2P monetization options, as a game designer I would be making nothing but pay to win games. Monetizing impatience necessarily always violates this criteria at least some of the time.
For you free to play guys you will never be able to catch up to spenders. I'm a spender and I can't even shine the shoes of some of the top accounts almost doubling my hero rating. Thats not the point though.
New items behind a pay wall is not cool. I purposefully didn't purchase it because r4 is so out of place in this game as currently constructed I can't support that nonsense. I think r3 should have a comfortable reign before r4 steps in. The max prestige had been 10.75k for half a year before we got r3 6 stars. Let us hit a limit, for most of us with weak 6 star rosters r3s are still exciting. You can make just as much money selling shards which is what I spent my hard earned money on, which equates to rank ups and prestige. Sloooowww downnn, and yes I'm aware we only got a small portion but it's still too early for even that.
As far as the r4 resource topic. I think it's also being blown out of proportion. It's 1/12 of an r4. I think it's still possible that Act 7 explore will still be required for an actual r4 champ. But again, we actually have no idea. It's all just theory.
It’s way to early for it but I’m not shocked at all it’s behind a paywall. I bet most of these resources will be for awhile since nobody really needs them but those in the prestige race will buy them up.
Meh, I didn’t even consider it and most people i know didn’t get it, horrible value
Yup, I don't even see the point in buying this yet. I'm sure it will matter at some point but like always it will matter for a short time and then be meaningless. I don't like this is how they introduced them but I don't think it's anywhere near the big deal people are making it out to be. The people upset about this have never actually been competing with the people who are actually going to buy it anyway, this isn't new.
By the time there are enough catalysts available to form a t6b/t3cc, it won't matter whether the offers or content came first, those that buy will form them first.
The issue to me is how jarring this was. No build up from Release notes on content rewards, just "R4 cat frags are here if you buy this".
Even if 7.2 rewards were announced a week ago with these fragments, i wouldn't be as bothered by this.

When i saw it i was thrilled personally, because i knew the value would be horrible so it's not something i would consider, but i knew it would have the trickle down affect of making the offers i actually want, worth it.
For someone like me, i'm only at 13.5 prestige and i'm still missing plenty of 6* that i want. This offer was really only relevant for the absolutely top of the top, the 13.8 and above folks that only thousands worth of cavs monthly.
This "event" is just an additional version of july 4th/cyber monday, but only for p2w players.
Don't even care about the deals. But the event is disgusting, so it's better to get rid of it. I really hope this doesn't become an annual thing
Free stuff is disgusting? Don't participate then? That's fine too. Don't claim them from the mail and don't do the arena. Don't get 15k 6 shards for free. Make a stand against the tyranny!! SMFH
*Smiles.. opens arms and looks up towards the sky as disagrees fall like rain*
It is 5% "free", and 95% P2W event. That's what so disgusting about it. An "event" that was introduced with the only purpose of pleasing the one's who spend. And is not something minor as well. Damn, even the piggy bank is back to grab some more here and there.
At least on some other similar deals, like cyber monday or 4th july, the difference isn't as big as that. Is like 40% unit deals to 60% money deals.
So would it be fair if the spenders call all events that have no way to spend for higher rewards "disgusting?" We earn entries into the Contest of Realms side quest. Why can't I buy more? Why is event designed to placate the free loaders? And not just this side quest, but pretty much all of them.
That looks super ugly just to type unseriously. And I'm sure there are lots of people who are thinking "yeah but" and have all kinds of rationales for why this is only true in one direction and not the other. They are wrong. It is ugly both ways. Treat the free to play players that way and you quickly have a game not worth playing. Treat the spenders that way and you quickly have no game at all.
Sometimes stuff is going to target the spenders. And while it shouldn't happen often, they shouldn't have to apologize for spending, or ensure that a substantial percentage of what they are buying is always given away to appease those that don't spend.
Well i do spend, it is my point of view. I do not find any balance in a straight up money mongering event. Sell it how you wish, but most of the stuff is locked behind a paywall. 74k vs 2.2 million doubloons, that gives a good idea as to what balance there is.
I get your point about spending. I don’t mind it very much that it’s behind a paywall.
But it does feel too early. And it might be because R3’s came very very fast. I can’t believe how fast some of my ally mates have acquired R3s.
So. If they need to keep giving the top whales something it could’ve have been T5CC. They just needed to give it out in lesser quantities.
Some of us think it is too early. Some of us think it is long overdue. R4s still aren't possible, so it isn't too early yet. Some would rather spend on slivers of R4 progress rather than expanding their R3 rosters, so this is better for them. As compromises go, it isn't a bad one.
I mean, it does depend on how fast they give us the remaining shards for a R4. But they really need to be careful in my opinion.
Creating a bigger imbalance between these two types of players might not be very healthy.
I get top spenders getting everything before me. But maybe them getting a R4 before I even get a single R3 to sig 200 could be too much?
I don't know; that will certainly be true for someone. I consider myself a "middle second tier player" - a Thronebreaker that has a decent 6* roster but hasn't fully explored everything yet. My highest sig 6* is 120 (Longshot). If I *wanted* to make a sig200 champ I could probably get there with my sig stones in inventory, but I have no specific desire to do so at the moment. Given where I am, my guess is there's probably some number between thousands and tens of thousands of players that have one R3 sig 200 at the moment. The fact that they sold the fragments in small numbers suggests to me that they will start rolling out other opportunities of similar magnitude, which would still mean the first R4 is a ways away - almost certainly not by J4, and more likely towards the end of the year. By then, that number will be higher.
I also think sig 200 is not the best gauge for this kind of thing, because few champs really benefit from pushing sig that high, so a roster can theoretically get extremely strong without having one (unless you're prestige-conscious). The better benchmark would probably be something closer to how many players have some quantity of R3s, something between five and fifteen perhaps (somewhere between having a full team of R3s and basically having the theoretical option to be using R3s for everything). When that number gets high enough relative to the percentage of players that is TB, that's more likely to start the clock to R4.
I suspect we're not there yet, but I also suspect the devs are trickling R4 frags out slowly so as not to repeat the much quickly jump to R3 that occurred with T5CC.
I guess there’s the difference. I don’t know what term I’d used to categorize me but my highest sig 6* is 60. I could get to 80. And I have 100% every content in the game.
So I’m not trying to compete with the 13.8 guys. I just think being in a 39th AQ alliance in this game (as I am now) will be a dream when people get R4 sig 200 and I’m stuck with my R3 sig 100. I get 10 sigs (not generic) a month. That’s it.
It feels imbalanced. That’s all.
You know better than me. And if this will help make R4 much rarer than R3 were at the start I would believe you. Because I think T5CC was rolled out too quickly.
