. I've looked at my r3 6 stars and 9 of them are reworked or updated characters. .
This made me go and check. 25% of my r3 roster is reworked champions
I had to check too..
On my mini, I have War Machine, Masacre and Daredevil NF as reworked champs at r3. 3 out of a total of 8 R3s. Yellow jacket will be my next, making that 4/9
On my main, I have falcon, Venompool and Diablo. 3 out of a total of 18. Ebony Maw will likely be my next.
I’d say that’s a pretty good strike rate, 6 out of 24 is really great considering not every buff is aimed at end game players.
Diablo was my first 6*. He's my latest r3. The sadness I felt when I pulled him is almost negated by his buff
Diablo is one of my favourite champs at the moment, he’s on almost all of my war attacks and he is crushing it. I come out of most fights with more health than I went in with. He’s dripping with utility and damage. Nullify, energy damage regen, armour break and stun immunity. For me, his is the best buff of the program (just because I find Magneto boring to play)
Who would you say got the better buff treatment, Mags or Diablo, compared to pre-buff state?
Want me to be objective or subjective?
Objectively Magneto. He is actually broken for metal matchups. There’s no skill needed, just 12 heavy attacks then sp3 and it’s over. Clearly, he solves a hell of a lot of problems when it comes to his matchups. The 70% DAAR is amazing for him since he’s parry, then 1 hit heavy. Someone who has MLLLM or a 2 hit heavy just can’t deal with 70% DAAR, but it works amazing for him.
Having said that, since I really don’t find magneto fun to play - subjectively it’s Diablo for me. His buff is everything an overhaul should be. Plenty of damage, awesome unique utility and he covers so much ground with his pre fights he is a Jack of all trades, master of damn nearly all of them. I will never run out of good things to say about Diablo. Plus, I just find him so fun to play in all manners of situations.
Diablo is up there for one of my very early rank 4s, if I didn’t like Mr Negative so much I probably would r4 Diablo.
@Terra just to add on, I forgot to say that since they both were pretty much the same level of useful (i.e. not very) at pre buff state, I would just compare their buffs 1:1 now.

Diablo is currently one of my top 5 favorite champs to play in the game. He'll be considered among the options when I have r4 material. I used him a lot in war also, but recently switched him to AQ. He's on my testing team for map 8.

Glad to see there’s lots of love for Diablo. I haven’t had much of a chance to try my 6* since the buff, and I wasn’t really sure what he brought to the table. I may actually consider ranking my 6* now since I do find him fun to play, just need to figure out all of his unique uses
Kabam made some nice rework lately, like Diablo, King Groot, Magneto etc..
And yes, they do listen their players but those players have to shout so loudly for Kabam to even say « thx for the report, we will take a look » that everyone think they don’t care !
As always, it is a bad communication between Kabam and the players that make the players unhappy and more toxic in their comments of Kabam’s work

For the sake of this not turning into a Diablo Hype Thread, I'll just say I 100% agree and he's easily become one of my Top 5 Favorites.
Also the occasional Novas and Gamoras is worth the more often Diablos, King Groots, Venompools, Bishops, Gambits, ect. They aren't all going to be slam dunks, but When They HitThey Hit, overall the Rework Program is a Success and should be considered an Undeniable Success...
It’s an attitude of everything Kabam does is bad, and it’s ridiculous. Do kabam do everything right? No. Do kabam do everything wrong? Equally no.
There’s a toxic part of the community who will always throw insults and abuse to every decision kabam makes, and then go play the game for 4 hours a day enjoying every second of it. It’s an entitled ridiculous attitude and is a prime example of why “the customer is always right” is a flawed premise. I really feel sorry for those with such a negative outlook on a game they claim to love.
The buff program is genuinely an overwhelming success, but that doesn’t mean every part has been right and flawless. We can point out where kabam goes wrong, but we need to say when kabam does it right too.
If I were Kabam and I read any piece of feedback that included any phrases such as “Kabam never listen”, “Kabam always mess up”, “Kabam don’t do anything right” or the like, I would snigger and immediately ignore that feedback.
Well said @Rookiie that was a really well worded post. I can’t wait to try out Joe Fixit’s buff
It's so bad over at reddit. While thoughtful comments do get upvoted, dog piling on kabam is a sure fire way to get praises
It's the reason I don't use Reddit. It's a cesspool.
I wish people would learn you can't judge a champion off written abilities. Apocalypse, Warlock and Corvus ring a bell for anyone?
Apocalypse is a dud, while hilarious, is the prime example of this mindset
The undisputed Queen is still Magik IMO. When she was buffed, the overwhelming majority opinion being posted was that she was literally nerfed to uselessness, because her useful nullifies were reduced, while all she got back was some power stuff nobody cared about. And this persisted for a considerable amount of time: it wasn’t just the initial knee jerk reaction, because she went from totally useless to only good on defense before the tone shifted on her.
People who liked Magik back then did exist, but they were treated about the same as people who say they want their first R4 to be Groot would be today.
The constant “Kabam bad” made my last alliance unbearable in the end, and while some of it was understandable frustrations about the parry bug, none of them bothered reading up the explanation to the issue so believed the reason to just be they want more $$. But what really tops it off was the amount of “Kabam bad” that got thrown out when actually it was just their inability to read champion abilities.

I hate that lol. A guy died to a fight and immediately came and ranted about how kabam is bugging the game purposely to collect money when it was just them not reading nodes

Yeah, and people just pile on it so much that anyone who thinks remotely dissimilar is labelled a Kabam apologiser. Anyone who doesn't join the hivemind of abuse that is the Kabam hate-train, and thinks about situations realistically is asked how Kabam's boots taste.
In one of the Line chats I'm in, people were discussing Miike's response in a venompool V8 thread where he used a meme of Homer Simpson saying I don't know, and then giving a more detailed answer in the same comment. Someone took great offense to this and exploded about how dare Miike use a meme in response to the community, and I just pointed out about how is that such a big deal? Miike is just communicating on the internet with people, it's a small light hearted response, alongside a normal one. Like, seriously, is that what people will get offended about nowadays? Anyway, I got told I was a Kabam sympathiser. For saying people should be able to use memes without a torrent of abuse. On the internet.
I still think that changes are for sure added to the list of “make it harder to fight against” at some point In the process. As well as make them better attackers

Champs are made for both offense and defense. Why shouldn't they buff defensive abilities? Well I know why since a large chunk of the player base hates anything challenging or needing to think outside the box to clear a fight.

I feel like it’s an incredibly small price to pay for a champion to have a very avoidable bit of block penetration. 1 parry gives Joe 25% block penetration. Then 4 medium ending combo’s, light ending combos or heavies get rid of it.
To put that into perspective, a sig one (one!) magneto has 108% block penetration. Joe’s is 4 times weaker.
New defenders add new or change the meta of the game, and that’s an incredibly important part that a lot of people don’t really understand. Champs like Sorcerer supreme and anti venom just got a bit better for dealing with block penetration. Champs like Mr Negative, Elsa and Moleman got a bit better since they can get openings without parrying.
In my opinion, unless a buff only makes a champ harder on defence, I don’t mind if they get a small defensive tweak. Not to mention, it can make a champ worth it to rank up for defence. People who play war rank up defenders, and are happy pulling defensive champions
I think the concern about Joe’s block penetration is very much over the top for several reasons.
First, he’ll only get it on defense if you parry him. There are all kinds of matchups in this game that punish you far more severely for parrying than a moderate amount of block penetration. Play against him like one of those matchups. Get intercepts. Use champions with assisted intercepts who don’t need to parry. I’m curious how Elsa’s evade on well-timed blocks will interact with this.
Second, if you do need to parry him, then you can keep fighting him to get the diamond card off of him. And realistically you won’t be partying him without hitting him four times in a row, so he’ll at most get two stacks of diamonds at a time. So many champions have more block penetration than that.
Meanwhile, it could be a useful tool as an attacker if we see nodes that make us want to attack into block. Point is, it’ll be okay. Joe isn’t about to become a top tier defender.
