…. But he’s the one that cares too much
Everyone has the right to express their opinions on the forums, but that right comes with a responsibility: to accept criticism from others. This is not a support group, this is not a validation group. This is a game discussion forum, and at their best they are battlegrounds of ideas. Some people will support your ideas. Some will attack them. Some will question why you're even choosing to venture into a particular topic. These are all valid lines of discourse.
No one likes it when people question their ideas, or outright refute them, or even go so far as to say that no one else should give them the time of day. But it isn't abuse just because we don't like it. it isn't toxicity just because we are discouraged by it. Personal attacks are out of bounds, but attacking ideas is just part of the game.
In my opinion, the mods need to do a much better job of distinguishing between the real toxicity and the side effects of healthy discussion, and there's some leeway the posters need here. In return, we need to do a better job of toning down the sideways attacks that I know we all sometimes resort to out of frustration. But we also need to set the right expectations for a public forum. Everyone here isn't here to make me feel good. They aren't here to stroke my ego or brighten my day. They are here to participate in discussions about the game, the Marvel property, and occasionally pineapple as a pizza topping option (its not). And my right to speak comes with everyone else's right to tell me I'm off my rocker. That give and take has to exist, for the forums to be worth participating in at all.
Note: this is my personal opinion. I do not represent the opinions or positions of the moderators of the forums or Kabam in general.
PS: That patent is meaningless. It is a patent to adjust the pricing of things in an in-game store based on player prior gameplay history. That has nothing to do with random crystal contents.
You'll still feel annoyed by the end of today, but by the end of the week, you'll just feel relieved that you don't have to wade through their 100+ messages a day on posts, arguing against the prevailing sentiment, every... Single.... Time... Trotting out the same logical fallacies.
There are always some genuinely thought provoking and well reasoned counter points. But you may find blocking "thread derailers" a better experience.
I've thought about adding demon as well, truth be told, however I'm undecided on whether he's of the same ilk; derailing for pleasure.... But he could just be that caustic and simply unaware.
I am not protected.
As an example, see above. Demonz did not write out “Reverb79 said”, the forum automatically put that for him. This is a basic piece of information you have based your attack on.
The loops you jump through to accuse are disturbing.
As for the “friend” that the person in question got to share his comments, all he did was comment on the other person’s comments. You’ll most likely find many people that disagree with your opinions throughout your time on the forums, it’s inevitable. You just have to not take it personally, and try to just pay attention to the actual counterpoints to what you are trying to say.
You're annoying, but you are but a Padawan compared to the Sith master, when it comes to derailing threads 😉
Also, while you have the right to block individual posters, you don't have the right to completely censor them out of your forum experience. The forums are in a way like the game itself. You don't have to join an alliance. You don't have to participate in multiuser events. But you don't have the right to have a customized experience. The game is one whole game, not a million individual solo games glued together. What other people do will affect you, that's what you sign up for when you play a massively multiplayer game. The forums are the same: you have limited rights to block certain posters, but you don't have the right to have aa forum experience curated to only what you find acceptable. People will post, other people will reply, other people will build upon those posts, and eventually whether you like it or not the ideas expressed in those posts will eventually cross your path.
If you see something you believe violates the forum rules, you have the right to report it. However, while the forums have rules against direct personal attacks or abusive language or posts, it does not have rules against "hounding." If someone decides they want to reply to all of your posts, that is their right. If someone wants to contradict all of your posts, that is their right. You have no right to a curated experience. You have no right to be free of other people, regardless of what your opinion of their behavior is, short of reporting them for forum violations.
Here's some free advice from a very, very, very, very old internet citizen. You know what's worse than people disagreeing with or even making fun of your posts? Nothing. Nothing is worse. Try posting one day and discovering a day later it has zero replies. I know of Youtubers that take their most trolly comments and pin them, guaranteeing that will cause other posters to attack that troll, causing other trolls to attack those people, and so on. Because they've told their loyal followers repeatedly that this is a thing that they will deliberately do. And they do it because Youtube's algorithm considers all those comments to be "engagement" and thus promotes those videos to be watched. In other words, they are monetizing trolls. Trolls make them money.
You can't do that here (if you could monetize the forums I would own Kabam by now). But discussion, steered away from the rails that will get the thread shut down, is the only way to get your ideas read by the masses. Every reply is valuable. You need to learn to harness it, not fight it, or the internet will be a very unhappy place for you in the long run.
We understand some of the concerns and frustrations surrounding the policies of user generated content on the forums. In this particular case, we felt this topic to resemble one policy we hold quite firmly which is not to discuss moderator actions and decisions in public. We encourage all users to reach out to your moderation team directly if ever you feel the need to report or flag any activity on the forums. We will always endeavour to provide reasoning so you can understand why your content may have been flagged. However, we may not always be able to provide a full analysis on certain moderation decisions or issues as our moderators must operate within a certain level of discretion due to volume. We hope you can understand our decision here to close this thread as the nature of the topic is one that we would encourage you to reach out directly should you have continued concerns in this regard. Thank you to all who have tried to have a reasonable discussion about it and thank you all for your understanding.
