Why are the matches so hard in battlegrounds?

I don’t claim to be great but I don’t think I’m a Trump either have over 106 stars 16 at rank3 and I would think maybe I just suck because these matches are ridiculous but everyone I am matched up against is losing their matches also.
This game mode has so much potential I was so excited for it but what fun is there in winning matches by seeing who loses the least worst? Lol. I fight 300+ health matches all the time and don’t have near the trouble killing defenders normally. What’s the point of the added health and the nodes like masochism anyway why is there a need for any of that if we’re gonna be matched against each other and scored on how we fight the match? Somebody is still going to win and lose with out the boosts added to the defenders. So why frustrate your player base? Isn’t there enough thinking and strategy just trying to figure out in the short amount of time what attacker to use and what defenders to use why add stuff to just frustrate people even more?

I (mostly) joke, but seriously these nodes are not meant to be the main issue or challenge. The main issue and challenge here is a chess match between you and your opponent, banning the right champions, picking the right defenders and attackers based on who they pick or have.
Once the chess match is over, you fight and test your brawn rather than your brains. But they don’t need 10 different nodes or tons of health to make this part hard, your strategy with bans and defender picks should have done that.
Having said that, one act 5 node and a small health boost is what’s needed so you don’t just crush your opponent in a combo or two. The mode would be boring without it.
Personally, if neither side beats the defender but I win because I had 2% more health remaining, I'm fine with that. A win is a win.
oww, btw i'm a **** player so loose a lot in bg's, killing champs with so much hp in soo little time is not a thing i'm good at, also don't have many good defenders ranked or have enough knowledge to pick counters, but it's mostly a skill issue

In BG you have the challenge of picking good defenders, good attackers and picking your good defenders to counter their defenders all in a matter of minutes. That leads to bad match ups, extra pressure during the match and all of this leads to situations where you die even though it’s a really simple match up.
Killmonger with masochism is not a hard fight, but that’s not the point of it. The difficulty comes from the opponent having banned some of your good attackers, you only having a reduced deck to deal with him, maybe your good counter didn’t come up, or maybe you have to use them for a different fight. Then within all of that, during the fight you know the opponent is trying to beat your defender and you need to do it fast and lose little health.
All of this is where the challenge is. Killmonger with masochism in act 7? Easiest path in the world. Killmonger with masochism where you’re juggling all of that? That’s a rough match up.
Regarding the “I don’t understand the point of having matches where people are dying more than they’re winning?” At the end of the day it’s to judge about who does better against the fight. Maybe further down the leaderboard fights are often decided by who takes more of the opponent down, but as your skills improve, you get used to the mode and you’ll start consistently soloing the fights a huge percentage of the time.
When that happens you can really work your way up the leaderboard, and you will face similar players. And at that point, matches will be decided on who has higher health/does it faster, because all the defenders are getting soloed, and if not then it’s because of a mistake by the attacker, or intelligent banning/defender placement by the defender.
(No but seriously, it's pretty much the same as the practice match AI)
Some random matchups, when you select a different champ and the game takes another champ, just cracks me up... I even managed to win most of those too.
