If kabam wants to engage more with newer players, I’d suggest they add more advanced tutorials like dexterity, baiting specials, dash incepting, backdraft intercepting, etc.
This years buffs have not brought much of any value to champs for both old and NEW players.
If the answer was "buffs are for newer players" then the question was wrong. I was a new player, like pretty much everybody else, and at no point did I think I would continue or not based on the animations for DeadpoolX. What a load of rubbish. I'm am blown away that anyone could even trot out that line and believe it.
I’m still not sure what the point in buffing Psycho Man was. Of all the buffs I’m still puzzled at who that was aimed at? New players? Experience players? Psycho Man fanboys and fangirls?
Whoever it was aimed at, I don’t know what it really did to the champ that was worth the time and effort. Maybe I should take mine to r4 to see his TRUE potential…. 😐 (challenges someone to post 6* R4 Psycho Man gameplay lol)
Either way I’m glad they’re at least putting more effort into announcing when they’re coming, who they are and what their initial intent it. At the very least it’ll stop the myriad “next month” posts on the forum.
I would do it gladly but I dont have a 6* Psycho man... seriously, I have a r4 Tech gem so I would... The buff ofc was aimed at me, I was soooooo excited, but that buff was pure trash, too bad...
I refuse to believe any new player uses 2 stars after getting their first 3 star, which takes 30 minutes (probably less). More stars, bronze -> silver. There's zero incentive to not play with the character with the bigger number.
Ok. Then what. Kabam seems to be implying they have data that says otherwise. Either they are telling the truth and there's no point in discussing it further, or they are lying and there's no point in discussing it further.
"Many of the Champions that get reworks are obtained regularly in the early game, especially those with 1- and 2-star versions. While it may feel like eons ago that many of you used a 2-Star Champion, they are still regularly used by new players."
The statement is that they are used regularly, no comparison is made. The game forces you to use 2 stars for some fights, is that a metric that should be considered?
Rather than go around in circles, I'll just say that if I was in charge, and I had data that said players were doing something, and this was causing an issue, then I would act to resolve that. A player's opinion that something isn't happening, that I am literally watching happen is something I would give no weight to.
I would also not subject this decision to uninformed discussion. Once I see the sky is blue, the color of the sky is no longer open to debate. There are polite ways to say that, and blunt ways to say that, but there's no actual alternative course of action.
If Kabam can have two different kits based on rarity (colossus) then why not restrict the buff program to something like 5* and higher?
Probably because that doesn't satisfy all of the requirements on the buff program as well as what they have decided to do.
Rarely is anything done for just one reason. There are always a confluence of differing requirements and motivations that are overlapping and inconsistent, and the design decisions are always compromises between all of them. It isn't generally the case that there's one simple problem, and a solution designed to solve it. Rather, there are a number of competing problems, the combination of which cannot be solved by any solution. The option you take is the one that does the best at minimizing the problematic nature of all of them, without necessarily completely solving any of them.
Sooner or later you will reach the point where only the absolutely best pulls (Doom, Herc etc.) make you happy and can actually have an impact on your roster.
So, in order to "increase excitement from pulls", all buffs would have to be like Magneto and that's impossible. In all other situations, there will be disappointed people
Juggernaut is the perfect example of what I was trying to say originally
Agreed 100%. This is a nice buff that makes for fun game play on a very old champ. Also makes him a bit easier as a defender, which is ok by me.
Dr. Zola
He's awesome on attack now. Took mine to rank 3. He'll be fun on a few nodes, rocks in Incursions, prolly dynamite in Battlegrounds. Is he the top mystic now? Of course not. Is he gonna help players of all stripes clear lanes. Heck yeah.

Maybe that’s your outlook but it’s not mine. I could name you 20 buffs from the 2020-2021 program that aren’t Doom, Herc or Mags level that I’d love to pull if I didn’t already have them.

Long live the buff "program".
Yeah Juggernaut is a successful buff, I’m impressed. Couple flaws but overall compared to what’s come since Psycho man it’s a win in my book. Also, just think about the thought behind the buff, the new gem mechanic is exactly the sort of thing I hope for with buffs. Kabam are *trying* something new and I love to see it.
I really hope this is new life for the buff program and Rocket and AntMan follow in his footsteps. I’m not fully on board in love with the program, this is only one buff in all fairness, but it’s a drop of hope in the ocean! Let’s keep it up

I think one time I started a new account and got a 4* shard crystal within 45 minutes, so new players definitely don't use 1* and 2*

You can button mash your way to three stars!

That way, the new players are being looked after and so are the veterans.
It makes no sense to restrict four rarities of champion to cater for those using 2*
