Potential Delay to v44.1 Launch

We are currently working through some issues that may affect the release window of v44.1. This means that the update may not release on Monday as it usually does. We are working to resolve the issue holding us up as quickly as possible, but will keep you all updated, especially if the delay results in any changes to the content release schedule.

The Next 12 Variants

So, as someone who joined Marvel Casino Contest Of Champions in July of last year, I’ve always been curious about the story and lore of the game and the quests that happened before I started playing. And the Back Issues quests have been a fun way to experience them while also getting free mastery cores. (Thanks, Kabam!). I found a thread a few months back by Slayer of Gods (I know you’re here somewhere), that detailed the upcoming 12 variants. I decided to keep his style (bold for dates, italics for quest names) while I write this.

Since then, three of those 12 have been released, and the fifth one will be released whenever Kabam decides to release it. A lot of people have made threads asking when Variant 5 will be released, and to keep you all entertained while we wait for it, here are the next 20 Back Issues!

Also, if any of these are out of order, it’s due to the music blasting in my ears as I write this.

So, as accidentally confirmed by Kabam Miike (#FreeMiike), the next Variant will be Blood and Venom, originally released on October 8, 2015. This quest introduced Guillotine, Kabam’s first original Marvel character, and Venom. This also introduced us to different difficulties if I’m not mistaken.

Then came what will be Variant 6, Contamination , on November 19, 2015. This introduced us to Daredevil Netflix and Luke Cage. Jessica Jones also made an appearance, but she’s still not playable in game. (C’mon Kabam).

When December 10, 2015 rolled around, the player base was treated to Rocket and Groot’s Holiday Special. This introduced everyone’s favorite tree into the game, Groot! (I think Jane Foster was also introduced into the game around this time. Ouch.)

Next up, Back Issue 8. 2016 started out with the introduction of Miles Morales in Arachnid Action, released on January 14, 2016. Also released in this update: Blue Cyclops, the most effective champion in MCOC.

Back Issue 9 should be Deadpoolooza, released on February 3, 2016. This gave the Contest two new champions: Old Man Logan and Venompool.

The next Back Issue, AKA Back Issue 10, was Kamala’s First Day . It was released on March 2, 2016, and who did it introduce? You guessed it, Kamala Khan! This event also teased Agent Venom, but the focus was on the way more likeable Kamala.

Back Issue 11 (13 more to go!) takes us to M.O.D.O.K., Mo’ Problems, which released on April 6, 20160. This introduced M.O.D.O.K. (of course), Red Hulk, and the aforementioned Agent Venom. However, M.O.D.O.K. wasn’t playable until December of 2017.

Starting on April 26, 2016was the event known as Cosmic Civil War. Crossbones entered the Contest here, along with (sigh) Falcon, and Black Panther (Civil War). (double sigh) There was also a side quest similar to Baron’s War as you chose Pro or Anti Registration, and unlocked a side quest based on your choice.

June 15, 2016 brought with it the second and final part to the Cosmic Civil War storyline, Cosmic Civil War: Endgame. Here, all summoners learned of Civil Warrior as they added him into the contest.

Back Issue 14, X-Men: Terrigenocide , was released on July 6, 2016and told the tale of the X-Men trying to find a cure for the Terrigen Mists debilitating mutants across the Battlerealm. It gave us Beast, Phoenix, Nightcrawler, and the unplayable at the time Wolverine (Weapon X). (He is playable now, though!).

The 15th Back Issue, released on August 3, 2016, was Titanomachy, which introduced Loki to the Contest. The Grandmaster also shows up here, ready to take back his contest.

The 16th Back Issue (16? I can’t wait for the day I go into Event Quests and see 16 different Back Issues. It’ll be amazing.) is Terrigenocide Part 2. This gave us lovers Rogue and Gambit, along with Karnak. It went live on August 17, 2016. Also running during this time? Ming-Na’s Cavalry Challenge.

I was going to stop there, at twelve variants, but it would sit right with me if I didn’t include Back Issue 17, AKA Terrigenocide: Terminus, the conclusion to the Terrigenocide storyline. It released on September 14, 2016 and gave the Contest two new champs: Dark Phoenix, who at the time of this being posted is unplayable, and fan favorite Quake, the Destroyer of Worlds Content.

Fun Fact: this introduced to another new Infinity Stone in the story of the Contest, which culminated in Infinity Chaos and Infinity Nightmare, ending with Doctor Strange sacrificing his life (or so we thought) to save the Battlerealm.

Well, there you have it, the next 13 variants! I hope you liked this, because it took me about an hour to italicize and bolden everything. (I realized you could highlight and italicize/bolden on the last back issue, I know I’m dumb)

May you have RNG on your side, and happy fighting!
