Don't even try the "representation" argument here. There s more than 15 unused Marvel characters, that are native americans, have a great history, awesome stories in the comics, but instead, kabam chose to do something "original" to diversify the roster.

You really don't know how entertainment marketing works, right? Kabam wanted a piece of the diversity pie that their own doing, not marvel comics related, to get the credits. Having a group of representatives as part of the creation doesn't tell me anything, that s also marketing.

It's not up to Kabam. Marvel has to approve those champs to be able to be added to the game. It's one of the reasons the F4 champs took so long. There was a huge dispute and even their comics were pulled. Their IP wasn't being added anywhere because Fox messed up the movies so bad.

It's also not going to hold water for Canadians like myself, or the game team, or especially the people who contributed their own personal history to the design. You see, while the rest of the world was scoffing at the genocide in places like Europe, Canada had its own genocide. The Native people of Canada were forced into reserves, which were basically fenced-in areas. The people were fed alcohol to keep them subdued enough not to fight (which no doubt contributed to the rampant alcoholism we see today), even as early as the early 1800s when residential schools were opened to "civilize the savages" (aka Christianize them), which was supported by a number of the people found on our money. Those schools were a home for various forms of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Children removed from homes at gun point, to be abused and lectured on the "privilege of going home to celebrate Christmas". Some were even sold.
Generations of oppression and cover-ups for a people who first occupied this land, and the beginnings of some of the truths coming to the surface.
If they want to create a Native character, I give them all the power in the world.

I can tell you that when I was a kid I relished seeing someone with my background represented in popular culture. It was meaningful. So I hope this release is meaningful to some kids who pick up this character.As adults I think sometimes we are skeptical of inclusion efforts assuming someone is trying to check a box. Based on the video they released I don’t believe that is the case with this design. It’s a big world, and even bigger Battlerealm, and we should be excited to add to it. Especially if that is going to make some kid feel proud to be seen and represented in a game they love.

You’re right, punisher 2099 has a bad design, so does titania in my opinion. On top of that you got repeat designs for captain america and spider man which is kind of annoying. So nope, it’s not only a problem when they’re white. There is a plethora of bad designs in this game, I’m just adding this new on to that list.

This is another discussion, but I really can't tell what s Marvel s agenda for this game. We get characters that are clearly ones that the company wants to promote, and then we get long forgotten ones that we haven't seen in any media in ages.

Kabam has a roadmap for stories that they're doing, champion approval comes from marvel and is done way in advance. Champion approval might have to clear certain rights from like Fox or Sony.

I'm sure Marvel has some sort of plan for tie ins for movies or shows.

Just because we want a character, I voted for Forge on one of Gabe's polls on Twitter years ago, doesn't mean that Marvel wants in the game or it fits Kabams plans.

This original character has design input from Native Americans. It wasn't something some random designer thought of and said let's do this.
