@GalactikDonut if they take away sub zero after you purchased it then yes it must be a refund giving on console. I’m not talking about patches so please stop trying to make me look idiotic. I compared a nerfed champ to a the old Version in the mobile game as if it was a totally different champ in comparison. Which is damn near two different champs basically but it’s a mobile game unlike console so the rules are different.
they aren’t taking away champions from you. they are balancing them. the exact same thing that happens in most fighting games
My personal opinion far as champs is my own, but I would i recommend these game to friends? No, especially my relatives and associates at Marvel or any other entertainment company. Why? Because like you said if they purchase stuff they will be upset when then company changes it out the blue. I wouldn’t put anyone I know through that. You buy a champ on mk1 ps5 game console and they just take him away they giving refunds because everyone in the world would complain lol.
This is every online game as a service. Anyone with experience with such games already knows this. Every MMO is like this, every competitive online game is also like this due to competitive balancing, and every online game with progressional elements that I'm aware of are like this.
You sound like someone new to online games as a service. You sound like someone who wants to sound the alarm about something you think is completely unique to Marvel Contest of Champions. I can assure you no one who has played such games will find your observations unique or unusual. This is what happens in games as a service.
You say they don't do this in MK1. I'm not an MK1 player, so I don't have first hand experience, but I would still bet that nerfs happen in MK1 because there's an online competitive element to MK1, and sure enough:
Mortal Kombat 1 Players Frustrated With Nerfs in Latest Patch
Cyrax Kameo Gets Nerfed in Mortal Kombat 1 Almost immediately after the patch dropped, number one Mortal Kombat 1 player Dominique “SonicFox” McLean noticed that the Cyrax Kameo fighter got nerfed.
This comes as no surprise since Cyrax has been consistently called OP since Mortal Kombat 1 came out. He was the most-picked Kameo fighter at the East Coast Throwdown tournament due to his versatility in most situations and how “mindless” it felt to play him.
SonicFox and other competitive players argued that instead of nerfing Cyrax, they wanted other Kameo fighters to get a buff to get them to Cyrax’s level. This would make a lot of the Kameo fighters “usable” whereas they are not really competitively viable as they are now due to glaring flaws.
Now, I don't know if they've nerfed a DLC character or kameo in MK1 yet, because I don't play that game. But I can guarantee it will happen eventually, because it has happened everywhere.
Since I have no rights and they can do whatever they please with the account I created. I will never spend another penny on this game. I quit and I’m fr. Now that I know that I will not participate in anything this game does because I do not have rights as a consumer basically
I just want to point out that you have rights as a consumer, but you don't have totality when it comes to consumer rights. Simply paying monitor an item does not entitle you to anything generally.
What has to happen is that what you bought has to be something you own. If you rent a car, and it breaks down, you're not entitled to anything from the manufacturer since you don't own it and you agreed to all of that in the agreement you signed.
That's how this game works. You're basically renting your account. If Kabam shut down tomorrow, you wouldn't get anything from that either.
Now, if Kabam released an offer that said "buying this offer will give you unlimited units" and you didn't receive that, then that's where you have certain rights.
If somehow you were able to show crystal drop rates were incorrect, you'd probably get compensated.
You buying crystals at a chance to get a champion, and then getting said champion and there's either a bug or that champion gets rebalanced, then you get nothing. That's what you agreed to when you started playing this game.
@GalactikDonut if they deleted bishop from mcoc because of copyright laws, would we be entitled to compensation or just have to deal with it? Same thing applies to mk, what if they could no longer use Omni man and had to delete him on all servers. Would everyone who specifically purchase the champ be entitled to a refund? It’s just a question

You can tell you've never played a diablo game in your life. Patches can absolutely fundamentally change the way a character plays just ask all the whirlwind barbarians out there....

I feel like you've gone WAY off the original point here. I thought you were saying that Onslaught was being nerfed?
1) Where did you hear that? 2) And them removing a champion from your account is not the same as something being nerfed.

this exact thing actually happened in mortal kombat 9, they lost the rights to freddy krueger and as result just stopped selling the game. it’s no longer available to be purchased digitally, but those who have it and freddy are still able to use him. as for if they deleted a champion you still would not be eligible for any compensation. but they also have never done this and would have little reason to do it. it’s a very silly hypothetical.

You're making up scenarios in which could never happen. They would never take away Bishop because of copyright laws (you're just looking up legal jargon aren't you?) because MCOC is a Marvel IP. Kabam can't be in violation of copyright because Marvel approves of every single champion that goes into this game before that champion is even made in game.
Copyright laws would apply to me, if I decided to make a mobile game and released characters that looked exactly like Bishop or Quicksilver or even used Marvels logo in my game. That's what a copyright law is.
@JollyHawk my point was if they totally Removed a champ from the platform would we be compensated or refunded? Far as me mentioning Nerfs was comparing a champ being deleted from the game completely to a nerfed down champ.
@Demonzfyre its not real far as them taking away Bishop. Answer the question what if they did take away over some random reason? Would we be compensated or have a say so. The answer is no
@JollyHawk my point was if they totally Removed a champ from the platform would we be compensated or refunded? Far as me mentioning Nerfs was comparing a champ being deleted from the game completely to a nerfed down champ.
There was nothing in your original post saying anything about them removing champs. But you mentioned 'altering' champs.
I believe in the legal field this is called 'moving the goalposts'.
If we're talking about removing champs from the game, then my personal opinion is that if Kabam were to suddenly remove Bishop from everyone's rosters, I bet they would give non-monetary compensation. BUT, I also don't think they would be/should be required to either.
Just negative comments to degrade someone for voicing a honest opinion. I don’t spend money on something and you take it away out of no where that’s robbery. Now since you saying if I play this game than i have no say so well I’m not spending a dime or wasting my time anymore. You can have your game and defend it, but I doubt it’ll attract more users with you type of people as followers. Straight up cyber bullying anyone that states the real
We have an issue here. I find it disingenuous to actual bullying when someone claims it as such, for others disagreeing or having different viewpoints. You're certainly entitled to your feelings, and there is definitely behavior online that is rude, disrespectful, and sometimes abusive. That's unfortunately a part of open forums on the Internet. However, that's not an umbrella term for everyone that disagrees with your stance. That's ignorant to the multitudes of people who are abused on the Internet daily. When you make a purchase, you do not purchase anything for ownership. You lease the right to access some aspect of their product. This isn't a proprietary transaction. We have no claim to anything, our Accounts or the contents therein. While it's unfortunate when changes need to be made after people spent for Champs or Items, those changes are only made when necessary for the overall health of the game. Which most certainly supercedes our feelings on it. No game, no thing for any of us to play, discuss, or complain about. You're free to voice your opinions. Just remember that anything you post will be responded to, and there will be different views besides your own.
@Demonzfyre its not real far as them taking away Bishop. Answer the question what if they did take away over some random reason? Would we be compensated or have a say so. The answer is no
I can't answer that question because it literally can't happen. But regardless of any of that Kabam has the right to modify their service anytime they please. They could remove every champ but Groot and there's not a thing you could do about it.
And that’s my point we have no say so what so ever and I feel like if we contribute 1,000s of dollars to a mobile game Who can change the value of your purchase at any giving moment. Why are we wasting our money on the game if the value can change at any giving moment. That’s my argument and opinion. You don’t have to agree with it but it doesn’t mean I agree with your comments or should be ridiculed for having my opinion. Yes I will defend myself because a lot of y’all cyber bully and get a laugh out of humiliating someone on forums. Bye how do I close this chat?

I'm honestly wondering if he somehow lost a fully ranked and ascended Hercules lately?

That's the fun thing, you don't. It's an open forum that anyone can respond in. Just like the game, you don't own this particular discussion.
I think most people's point on here is that we understand our purchases are not buying items we can 'own', and if the game were to shut down tomorrow we would not be getting refunds.

Again, for the like 15th time in this thread, you're not purchasing anything. You don't get anything that's physical or own anything after that purchase.
Think of it more or less that you're making a donation to the games longevity.
Again, people who disagree with you are not cyber bullies. Also this isn't a chat, it's a Wendy's.

Also this is called “the game is growing and progressing.” if you decide to buy the current deals that is on you, kabam is not holding you at gun point to buy anything from their game. You are able to comprehend how most MOST video games work.

All those people who bought that new game Days Gone and the studio closes 4 days after the games release.
Y’all… I don’t say this to be condescending, but I think OP might be quite young or something. I think it’s time we leave this one alone and let the thread die.
@kabamJax respectfully disagreeing is voicing a different opinion not bashing someone in the process and getting away with it. The remarks on this post is very disrespectful towards me and since I Simply voiced my opinion. I feel totally insulted my intelligence has been questioned over a personal opinion.
You threaten Kabam with a lawsuit and then play victim for getting dog-piled by everyone else on the forums? Boo-hoo what a tearjerker... 🤣

You're honestly not alone in having that opinion. There are a lot of people who do not wish to play games as a service for precisely this reason. MCOC is not special in this regard. I wouldn't say they are the majority of players, but they exist.
Where you seem to be getting into trouble is your apparent lack of experience, not just with MCOC but with gaming in general, and even the internet in general. You don't seem to have experience with internet forum etiquette. You don't even seem to have experience with internet forums of any kind (i.e. how do I close this chat). You blast in with very strong opinions, which you are entitled to, but you believe those personal opinions justify attacking everything in sight. This is going to cause problems for you, not just here, but everywhere. I would recommend tempering your actions a bit, or you are going to get run out of a lot of towns.
@DNA3000 Truth is I am inexperienced in forums or gaming chats for that matter. I’m not going to proclaim any status I’m not entitled too. Maybe my comment and the way I reacted was not so welcoming, but I am i only reacting off what I see on the forums and global chats. Nothing but negative comments even when you just stating and opinion. Fine I was unaware of the consumer laws far as mobile gaming, but maybe I asked the question to get reaction from you and I did. Now just imagine me months from now on forums actually exercising my writing skills. This was a test basically. Don’t let me actually sit down and think about something than thoroughly right about it. I’ll turn this place into the biggest debate ever lol joking have a great day man
