Battlerealms Necropolis

Can you please, pretty please, stop putting me against those who have completed the Necropolis? I simply do not have that many rank 2 7* champs or that many accended champs. Extremely over balanced in the others favour.

It’s kinda like story content you gotta be used to having the significantly lower PI

Ya. I guess. However, as the matchups are lopsided the fun of the game is lost. Anger instead of fun. The story quests I find fun. The event quests are sometimes annoying with the multitude of buffs but BG sucks all the fun out when I get a matchup and I see Necropolis is completed plus 5 or more 7* champs and some at rank 2. That means their 6* roster is also VERY good with 2 or more assended. I cannot compete. Plain and simple. The matchup mechanism is too simplistic - in my view. Top 5 champs. That’s it. You bring 30 to BG. Story progression and special completion (like Necropolis) should also add to that score. It gives a better understanding of the player and skill. For BG the matchups should not be limited to the top 5 champs and the tier you are in. Too simplistic. If it is just the tier you are in then that is worse.

Good thing then that matchmaking isn't actually based on just your top 5 champs then

However the match making is done it is too simplistic. It would be good to include in the player rating points (bonus) for story and special quest completion.

Do you also propose that those players also get more rewards, since they would be facing harder matches?

Last season I tracked my matches. I averaged facing accounts that were 53% higher in hero rating and 7% higher in prestige. I also made it to the GC right at the two week mark. Just because you face stacked rosters constantly doesn't mean you can't reasonably progress

Even if the roster is bigger you can still outplay them with champion choices and playstyle. On top of that, I think we've all been in a fight where we did something stupid and lost a fight we would win 9/10 times. Sometimes people mess up. That being said I did face a guy with only five stars and a couple rank 3 six stars while I had all at least r3 six stars with a few r2 seven stars, that's just unbeatable.

I agree some are off, but what really annoys me is when I pair with someone like this, they stall the timers as much as possible when they know they’re going to lose as if it’s my fault. I don’t expect them to forfeit, but don’t drag it out.

You waste my time, and you waste yours (or maybe time isn’t precious to these people, idk)

Another annoyance I have is the 13 to 15 seconds I have to wait at the end. Waste of time. I want to get to the next fight not state at a picture of me losing (or sometimes winning). Next fight please.

The lower tiers of VT do in fact match based on a criteria based on player roster strength and player progression. However, above a certain tier the match system eliminates those restrictions and forces you to match against whoever is in that tier, to prepare you for the Gladiator Circuit where there are no match criteria, and you only match based on rating, which is based on wins and losses only.

So even though there are two sections to Battlegrounds, there is, in a sense, three phases. Protected VT, where you predominantly match only against players of your roster strength and/or progression tier, Mid-tier VT where you match against everyone else who reaches the same victory track, and finally Gladiator Circuit where you match against anyone with your competition rating, regardless of roster strength or progression tier.

The specific intent is for the beginning tiers to incentivize participation, with some competitive elements. The GC is there to be a pure dog eat dog competition, winner take all. And in between the two is a transition phase where the player loses the participation protections, and starts facing the kinds of competition that they will eventually have to face if they reach GC.

It is by no means simplistic. It is a very deliberate set up that has evolved over many seasons to reach this form, and all the things players point out as problems are actually deliberate features deliberately placed there.

That explanation is well thought out and helps me to understand what is happening and why. Thank you for that explanation @DNA3000 .

Based on the explanation above I may just need to wait it out and let those more practiced move up. I can try to move up again in a week or so.

Yes, that is a smart meta strategy for Battlegrounds. The longer the season goes on, the higher the stronger players go, which is another way of saying that lower tiers of the Victory track get easier. The faster you try to go, the more you end up swimming upstream, so to speak, against much stronger players. But if you let them get out ahead of you, more reasonable competition gets left behind. I discussed my observations while trying to get a lower progress alt into GC here: https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/341980/this-low-strength-deck-got-into-gc-heres-how/p1.

This was before staggered starts in the Victory track, but the principles are basically the same. The hardest day of BG is the first day, and the easiest day of BG is the last one. The strongest players and rosters have the best chance of advancing in the beginning, but eventually all (or most) of the strongest Paragons and Valiants will be gone, and then the mid tier Paragons, and then eventually many of the lower Paragons and Thronebreakers will probably be in Vibranium or GC.

The critical insight is always: if you're surrounded by super strong players who are always winning, why are they still in your tier? And the answer is, eventually they won't be.

New round of BG started and 8 games to get the 3 wins for the BG objectives and I still only have 1 victory coin. Meeting sooo many players who have completed at least one pass of Necro. Sorry, but I will disagree now about the match making system. It needs to be over hauled/tweaked. I should not, in any way, be paired with those who have completed the Necropolis. Especially, has they will continue to gain 7* (rank 2 and higher) at a far greater rate the chasm between me and them will continue to grow. When BG begins, those that have at least one pass of Necropolis (or are Valiant) should be starting at a level higher than I.

Wow! Like wow. BG is broken. I am in Diamond 3 and fighting against Valiant and players that have finished Necropolis. Now chance in the 9 hells I win any of those fights. 3 or more r2 7* plus the 3 6* champs that are ascended. They need to fix the match up algorithm.

    This is a dumb thread.

Its better to have the roster in balance from a content like Necropolis as opposed to those that have the fatter wallets (July 4 of last year).

The real issue you should be attacking are those sudden deals that if you spend $100 you get a shiny new exclusive champ along with 5k units.

Necropolis was a way for them to put rewards behind content and it was a step up, but the recent banquet deals I described above, was a step back down as if they keep doing that, then BGs will just come down to whoever spends the most money wins the most matches

I think, it has always been an hurdle to cross certain scenario in BGS. Even before Necropolis, players have always had stacked accounts. I have found the last two weeks a little less intense in the VT, cause most of the players with bigger accounts push and reach GC. So, for smaller accounts with limited champs, best to clear the objectives that reset every two days till the start of Week 3 and then push to GC.

What do others think of certain keystone champs carrying more weight (in terms of deck strength)? I see Tigra, Rintrah, Warlock, Thing, Jessica Jones, Silk, Morbius, Abom, AA, Torch, Doom as staples. Am I missing any others? I see those champs very consistently in each BG event run. All the above (apart from AA) need to be r4 6* for a strong deck. I am not talking champs that fit a specific meta but those that are versatile (atk and/or def) for every BG (or most of the BGs run so far). Those champs should, I think, carry more weight in the deck strength.

Not to mention I believe the matching up by rank in a tier (not by deck strength and progression) should start at Diamond 1 (not at Platimum 2 as mentioned before in this thread). My opinion is that to get out of Diamond you are introduced to the ranking system used in the GC and you have Diamond 1 and all of Vibranium to figure things out and improve your deck and skill. Also, a mention to players as they enter Diamond 1 that they will face whoever is available in their tier going forward and deck strength and progression no longer matter.
