Is the Gladiator Circuit too Stressful and Toxic?

In the sense of how it can be stressful to climb back up after losing, or constantly checking the leaderboards to see if you’re “safe”.

At 5 AM PST, just 5 hours before the reset time i was in spot 292/500. Being the perfectionist I am, I actually lost sleep to make sure I wouldn’t fall in rank. I ended up not playing more matches, but the amount of players that push at the very last day and especially the last few hours is unbelievably high. I’ve also heard the last day is when the modders usually run rampant.

Anyways, as for where my final spot was you might ask?

Spot 500. While at the same points. I dropped over 200 ranked spots in just 5 hours and barely just made the cutoff, which is pretty insane. On top of that I see people like Beroman that probably also lost sleep over trying to keep the top spot. I can’t imagine how unhealthy the competition is at that level.

I understand its a choice and people don’t have to participate, but the majority of the games rewards that are delivered *consistently* come from BGs, especially with the coming update to the Valiant shop. Alliances are even mandating a minimum score of contribution despite some players not being fond of playing the game mode just because of the marks/token rewards in the milestones (which are going to be updated along with the solo milestones per Kabams recent announcement)

Also regarding the “its optional” take. Hoarding was also optional. But it was highly frowned upon and even discouraged by Kabam.

There’s other factors as well that feed on to this such as the brand new champions being offered via money deals, of which the meta usually favors of the time of the release. The energy cost (which usually isn’t that bad but with WoE, EQ, SQ and all other game modes) etc etc

My preferred option would have been a combination of the first two: "No, I push as high as I can, and i usually end up in vibranium" :D

I just do the solo objectives, and if i'm close to the next tier i may use a shield. Some seasons i make it to GC, most i don't. But the moment it starts to feel bad is the moment i stop.

I mean, I don’t think dropping over 200 spots within 5 hrs is crazy. I got up to Arcane 1 last night before bed and looked at the scores and you have hundreds clumped together within only a point or 2 difference between them. If I’m at 90 and you’re at 90 and we’re both Arcane 1, and I lose a match, I go back down to 76-78, but if I win a match I’ll probably get +13-15, and I’m back at the same spot, only now I’m a point or 2 higher than you.

You get a lot of that, and you’re bound to lose spot if people are staying up and grinding the mode.

if u are in lower ranks, the difference between tiers is like one win, so it makes sense that u drop a ton of spots because the scores in lower ranks are so tight

I approach BGs in MCOC the same way I approach pushing ladder and Path of Legends in Clash Royale. Go as high as I can, take a break if I've lost a lot of matches, then start grinding again the very next day. I don't really care about the rank I get, I just push as high as I can. If I get a high rank, great, but if I get a lower rank that's no problem. You guys shouldn't take this gamemode too seriously. After all, at the end of the day, it's just a game

well, i just do 3 fights every 2 days (sometimes 4 if i lose one) and in the final week, i pushed to GC , add around 100 points and 150 points and thats it. Except for 2 buffed season, most of the time i will get quantum rewards and i am happy with it

@Jack2634 in that last week do you keep playing until you hit the 100-150 points to get it on like the first few days of the week? I’m curious if its easier to climb to that many points sooner into the week than later (like the middle or last day)

I find the win lose cycle of just the victory track final vibranium levels, of win one, lose one, too stressful!

I detest this progression system, so much, it makes me dislike the rest of the game and not want to spend. And I play *a lot*.

So, while you do find it stressful, I doff my cap to you on the mental fortitude and skills in the game, required to make it into the top 500. Take a bow.

    We can't all be Beroman.

Last day pushing is a real thing in every single game with leaderboards.

well, in the last week, when in GC , it depends a lot on my mood tbh, i just play BG whenever i feel like i wanna do it. I am not a whale, but my deck is pretty decent, enough to not get overwhelmed completely by other quantumers. It is harder to climb in last 3-4 days, it has been like that for me ever since season 4 iirc @Polygon , so i'd recommend pushing it before the last 3 or 4 days

unfortunately that is the case with higher level competition.
Higher level AQ/AW/BGs are all stressful and unbelievably toxic. Some of the top AW alliances are straight up cesspools. Unfortunately, by choosing to push, that is what you are opting to do.

enough to build a full deck of r5s/r2s lol. Let aside a few champs i ranked up for non-BG purpose (aegon, deathless, sandman,..) lets say i have 28
