Alliance war 10/23/24 cancelled

So the latest announcement in a string of hiccups from Kabam results in the following

This aw from matchups today will be cancelled and points won or lost will be clawed back AT THE END OF THE SEASON

So let me get this straight, if we win, we raise our score, and then we face a harder opponent and lose

At the end of the season, the win and points from winning get removed, so it counts as 2 losses? Make this make sense please

If you win, then it counts as nothing. If you lose, it counts as nothing. Everyone will have points taken away, so this next war will count as 0 points once the season is over and they take the points away

Yup. Obviously not ideal but some folks were being seriously impacted so we determined this was the most fair way to address the issue

I think OP is expressing concern over a war rating increase or decrease and how a war that doesn't matter will impact future matchmaking.
Yup he said points but meant war rating

Yes, but will they award points to the winners this week and remove them later? The timing makes a difference. They should cancel and just play the same war next week. The way it reads is that the winner will get points and it will be removed later. However, this thereby rates them higher in the next war, but they don't get those points in the end. This actively hurts the teams that "win" this week because they are paired against better teams next week, but don't get to keep those points.

The best way to do it is to reward no points this week.

I'll bring this up with the team but Rex has been on top of it in terms of communicating impact (I am still a bit noob at the more competitive modes so he's the real expert haha) so I think this has been considered. I'll try and get further confirmation though just to be sure.

That is how I read it too Mrmr13. The alliances that started the war early are actively hurt if they end up winning. I am hoping Kabam realizes this and just cancels the war altogether rather than clawing the points back at a later date. That makes the most sense, but may not be the easiest thing to do ( I am not a programmer). It's still early so we will see what they say.

Let me clarify and keep it simple in terms of points

Right now say we are on 10 points
Say we win and get 5 points, we are then on 15 points, say we face another alliance on 15 points and lose, ok we are back to 10 points, but wait, our points we won get clawed back, so now we are on 5 points even though we won 1 and lost 1 because we then faced a harder alliance

And how will it affect our multiplier?

Will the compensation be equal to what we have spent in this war ?

So the units are wasted, boosts are wasted and pots are wasted....just end the season here and fix the problem fully or give compensation for resources used.

Why can’t you guys just end the war this is ridiculous
Why can't you just use the war as practice then? See how that works?

I'm afraid it has been like this for years, Kabam can never properly fix it. I think it is understandable, because too many cascading changes to background data.. So just make your choice, get an easy win and free resources, or give up this one and let opponent win.

End this season now...no compensation and restart next week with a "Full Fix" with the new update out. It is unfare to everyone that used units, boosts, pots and everything that goes into war. Rather than play take a war off the end or compensation. Just end it now and reset the season

I am not understanding.. the war is still running for us in attack phase.. when u say Cancel it means it has no impact on points but the attack phase still continues?

Hey folks, at the end of the day, some tech limitations are in place here.

In a perfect world, there would be a "reset the Contest to right before War started" button we could press... and this would delete any points gained since the start of this War, freeze every Alliance's War Rating, and return the exact amount of items & units consumed during the War period - and then start the War from scratch tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the Stark Foundation hasn't given us that button yet, and it could not be implemented overnight, so we have to work with what we have here.

As of now, the plan is for the points gained by both Alliances to be zeroed out either after this war or after this season. Anyone who entered the War before it was canceled will be receiving a Compensation package (still TBD).

I've brought the concerns about War Rating to the team and requested that we try to find a way to freeze it before this War ends, but that's where these tech limitations may come into play - this has historically been a messy thing to do... we're absolutely going to try to, but please keep in mind that it just might not be possible at this time.

It's way after hours, and this will all be figured out tomorrow, and once it is I'll be following up with what's going to happen, but in the meantime, I wanted to hop on to provide a bit of clarity.

    go get that sleep :-)

I appreciate the update but respectfully how can you only compensate people who entered before the war was canceled when there have been no in game messages and the war is still active. Not everyone comes to the forums...

This is a great point - and to my understanding, the War has not been technically "canceled" yet as it's still up and running (again, due to it being after hours, and the magic button not yet existing).

Regardless, I'll be sure to bring this up tomorrow as well!
So if you ARE going to be actually Cancelling this war (when workday resumes, well prior to end of war timeframe), then that would make the “any points won/lost” (whether talking about season points, or War Rating +/-) moot ??
As in shut down the current running war, like you have done on some AQ days before?

That would probably be best, that way there are no points or +/- to worry about, and no “we got moved up and faced some way stronger alliance for the next war so would be a certain loss” complaints.
