Does the prof x synergy matter? Sinister doesn't rely on special damage right? Or does it increase his degen damage?

You dont want to ramp prof x on fights if your main clearer is sinister assuming yours is awakened.

It's disgusting, isn't it? I will also stand by our saying that he's not for many/most, and our way is better.

My silver lining is that at least I understood there was a skill issue when I initially recommended to not use stryfe

This is awesome dude, great work! I’m thinking if the following team:

    - 7* Sig 20 r3 Mister Sinister
    - 7* Sig 40 r3 Onslaught
    - 7* Sig 20 r2 Professor X
    - 6* Sig 200 r5 Apocalypse
    - 6* Sig 200 r5a Stryfe (also have a sig 40 7* at r1…might r2 and bring him in instead. Sig ability is dope but not essential for the ramp up)

Mister Sinister allows Apocalypse to auto start with max charges (just like Cable).

I’ll make Stryfe a Horseman and also benefit from Stryfe’s synergy FOR Apocalypse, making both of them insane.

Tbh this sounds like so much fun. Throw in W’s from Professor X to make everyone’s specials even beefier. Three extra revives for that, but worth it for the rest of the run.

The Cable synergy (+25% Attack, CPR, or Armor) is nice, but the others I think are a bit more worth it.

But, a tiny piece of me might want to just go in with two Mister Sinisters instead of Stryfe lol. Thanks for the guide bro!!

I honestly would not take Strfye. I tried him and didn't like it. @ahmynuts used him fully ramped (I believe) and said it was horrible.
I actually used my r5a sig 200 6* Stryfe on Path 5 back when I was going through exploration. One of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had in the game was that path lol

Is it worth having this synergy for sinister?

  • BanannaPandaBanannaPanda Member Posts: 136

A max ramped Sinister hits harder than a r3 unduped. And you can max ramp him without ten fights (which is probably a big).

However, I would still choose a 7* sinister over a 6* sinister from the bundle. @kvirr

    I’ve got the 7r3 sig 0 and 6r4A sig 200.
Would you still recommend the 6* then or is the 7 better.

If you're using Max despair, no. Otherwise, maybe, but I personally wouldn't. I think the only opponents that Regen are wiccan and Sauron. @Sw0rdMaster

7r3. The extra time from being a higher rank would make up for it. Also, if you stink at dexxing while rooted, the extra HP will help. @BanannaPanda

Watch out for airwalker. If you dex too many specials, you get royally screwed by the dark tide passive. That happened to me and i had to waste 2 revives just to get rid of it. I also lost a few revives on him when he just decided to hold for an L3. (That fight was much more fun with Doom.)

Also: I don't know how OP says Wiccan's incinerates don't do much. At least on my 7r2 unawakened sinister, he burned to a crisp. But 7r3 Onslaught soloed him after Sinister died! Incinerates turned into 20 stacks of degens!

I wish I'd thought of mags. I wasted a lot of revives on psycho man.

It could be because as soon as I got an incinerate, I would try to throw it back, and since I'd heal from sisniter's bleeds, I never really noticed it draining my health. But that's all I can think of, and I'm of course not running it again to see if that's what it was.

    Yay for Onslaught, though.
  • jdschwjdschw Member Posts: 465 ★★★
Yep, you were probably just managing it better than me. I foolishly didn't pay much attention to the incinerates until i was dead.

On the plus side, i was rewarded with a brand new 7* vox, meaning I'll get to dupe him in a couple days!
  • jdschwjdschw Member Posts: 465 ★★★

Nick 136 had mags in his team.
I don't plan to use him. But you guys should check it out if he works.

It's class disadvantage and Psyco man do concussion thingy on heavy attacks.

At least with a normal fight, if you just wait 1 second before your first heavy, then psychoman gets magnetized first, and then you won't get concussion on your own heavies.

Like Donut, i think i used like 10 revives on psychoman, and i had two people just for synergies (cable and a cyclops), so it definitely would have been worthwhile to replace one if he does in fact work. Which I *think* it should.

But I'm also not gonna run it again to find out!

I am debating having a team of Horsewoman Storm, Apoc, Prof X, Mag HoX, and either Onslaught or Sinister. I like the idea of having two mains - Storm with special and shock debuff focus, and the other with DoT focus. I figured if I bring Onslaught instead of Sinister, I can just use two revives on Apoc to get charges from starting the fight against Mutant Sauron, and then make Storm a horsewoman.

I am favoring Onslaught at the moment since he can handle Wiccan better and don't think I'll need the reverse control immunity against Cap Britain.

I've tried practicing with both Sinister and Onslaught on Sauron, and so far can't get a handle on managing Sauron's unblockable timer as well as the debuff timers (especially because degens pause Sauron's unblockable). I figured I could instead use Storm against Sauron so as to not worry as much about the unblockable, but I am hesitant to proceed if I'm not confident in my Onslaught/Sinister abilities for the remaining path. Is there any specific content where I can practice getting a handle on these two aside from just repeating Sauron? I thought about practicing on Necropolis Titania since she also has an unblockable timer, but think the Tranquilize would mess things up too much.

My last thought - anyone think Mag HoX would work against Psychoman? Since the node forces you to throw specials or take damage and that keeps Magneto from getting to his SP3, it seems like the SP2/SP1 rotation favors Mag HoX.

I’m thinking something similar - 7* R2 Storm OG, 73 R3 Sinister, 6* R5 Onslaught, Apoc to horseman Storm, then either Prof X or White Mags. Had the same question as you on White Mags for PsychoMan . Obviously White Mags prefight also helps Onslaught and his rotation for at least 3 of the fights. That said, think Prof X synergies help all three of my main attack champs (Storm, Sinister, and Onslaught) so debating.

Got the run done using stryfe. @ahmynuts . I don't know why but his damage wasn't all that. But onslaught just crushed it ,oh my god. He gave me solos on wiccan, hit monkey and Air walker.

Stryfe was good for Chavez since it's slightly hard to get to sp2 with onslaught in her third phase. Sinister did 20% damage though.

All in all and very good run

Honestly, for me Air walker was a revives drain (Like 6 and 2 teams at minimum) and Chavez wasn't hard at all once I've understood what to do, I guess the fact I didn't consider the charges Air walker gain after a loss was a factor too

I was quite conflicted just on this challenge. So I completely went the other way.
No 7* onslot, absolutely didn't want to use a slow ahh 6*.

Greater boosts all three. One set.
    Team:
    7* R2 Colossus Sig 20 + 7* Gambit relic
(Filler team, just there to enjoy the Godlosus show): 7* emma, 7* omega reg, 7* Whags, 6* proffx.

    Sauron 1 revive
    Monkey 1 revive
    Chavez solo
    Air solo
    Britain 1 revive
Wiccan 4 revives** (2 revives wasted on testing out the strategy.)
    Psyco 1 revive.

    The run was pretty fun.

    **strategy for Wiccan with colossus.
Don't parry, that one is simple to understand.
    Push sp2. Easy to understand.
Here's the real part: spam sp1 till you get 15+ armors. Sp1 is guaranteed 1 permanent Armor.
After that we can easily do just sp2 with parry heavy fury.

What I did wrong was to copy swedeah, he had r3, a little extra wiggle room to gain armors and a little extra time to do nuky stuff. Hence I baited sp1s during Armor buildup in my first 2 attempts, and Wiccan was constantly at 70% health. Don't do that, go for sp1s and then go nuky nuke sp2s.

    (Totally copied goat swadeah's run)

    I did mine slightly differently.

    7* R3 Onslaught Unduped
    7* R3 Sinister Unduped
    6* R5A Archangel Duped
    Havok / Apoc

(Revives are 20/40% ones. Very minimal potting, mainly to clear expiring pots. I find pots harder to farm than revives so I usually just revive and continue the fight.)

Sauron - Sinister. (2 revives. Never used Sinister on attack before this. So had to figure out his rotation wrt to Sauron’s unblockable.) Bait his sp1 when you can if he’s below 7-8 prowess so he loses them and doesn’t go unblockable.

Hit Monkey - Sinister mainly. (2 revives including the one that I needed to revive Apoc and make AA a horseman, and I’m glad I did. Tested AA as well, not as effective as Sinister.)

Chavez - Sinister only. (2 revives. I didn’t bother with avoiding her sp2 since Sinister can block unblockable specials. So even if she gets to sp2, block the first hit of the beam and dex the rest. Standard Sinister rotation here. I tried AA as well and he couldn’t control the power gain, so ate an sp2 really early on and KOed.)

Air Walker - Sinister only. (4 revives. Block his projectiles in his specials and you’ll be fine. Died mainly to careless when I tried to be greedy.)

Cpt Britain - Sinister only. (3 revives. Tested out holding heavy twice to pause the regen per parry. It works… but if she’s not pinned to the wall you’ll whiff your heavy hit and she gets an opening which the AI doesn’t miss, usually. Most of the revives were spent because I was testing this. Anyway, Sinister can deal with inverse controls so I didn’t bother trying anyone else lol. A solo is definitely possible but I just wanted to try out the double pause thingy, even if it costs a little more. I suppose AA can handle her as well.)

Wiccan - Onslaught. Solo. Straightforward fight. Just parry and dex as much as you like.

PsychoMan - AA mainly. (4-5 revives. I tried Sinister and Onslaught as well. It wasn’t as I imagined cause the heavy charging for Sinister etc can get screwed over by concussion from PsychoMan and easily push him to sp2s + unblockable. Not a good Onslaught player as well as I ranked him mainly for defence. It was at this time I was so glad I horseman-ed AA. He takes 30-40% per fight since he’s immune to AAR, so you’ll be able to parry heavy all day long.

I’d suggest not completing the special prompt right away, and using it to build more power for the next special prompt since AA’s playstyle will cause the parry and heavy prompts to go be done really quickly, and you’ll need time to bait his specials. Prepare to launch your special only at around 3/4 of the prompt timer.)

All in all, a pretty no nonsense objective. Counters were available in the pool of champs and most are pretty good champs that deserve a rank up regardless of whether they were required for the challenge.
  • altavistaaltavista Member Posts: 1,495 ★★★★
I decided to go for it with unduped 7R2 Storm, unduped 7R3 Onslaught, and then Apoc / Mag HoX / Prof X for synergy purposes.

(Horseman) Storm and Onslaught were both great for various champions. I was disappointed by Storm's heavy reach (especially compared to Onslaught), but Storm's simpler playstyle made up for it (essentially after one SP1, could just focus on heavies if the fight is too complicated for me). I got tripped up with Hit-Monkey being able to evade Onslaught's second heavy hit, which made pausing the degens difficult. But overall, both champions I think work well while being stronger against certain defenders but weaker against others.

One note is that Mag HoX... kind of works for Psychoman in that I mostly seemed to be able to parry even when block ability accuracy was reduced, and apply my debuffs when special AA reduced. But (with the caveat that I only had 4 charges on Mag HoX), the damage wasn't that good compared to whatever chip damage I was taking. I ended up more just team reviving to chip away the damage with everyone (Onslaught did the most consistent damage) instead of just focusing with Magneto HoX. If I had to run the path again, I would replace Mag HoX with someone else, as the synergy benefits aren't that noticeable imo.
