Don't enjoy it at all. Even after a few runs. The littlest thing like adding aggression in Phase 4 would make a huge difference. Instead, they give him horrible AI.

Idk ab everyone else but Ares was going for every intercept in the last phase. I kept doing backdraft light intercepts and it worked until he got his special and killed me .
I can attest to this too. His AI was hyper aggressive and even my medium intercepts connected most of the time, which is great

Very odd. My AI was exactly the opposite.

I’ve only done Ares once so far, but I can see how it could be enjoyable — eventually.

My bigger complaint is the recycling of Everest content over the past two years. I’m sick and tired of Necro after exploring the Carinas and I’m done with these EoP path fights too. Glad to have the rewards and the challenge of a new mega-boss, but not thrilled to have to do the six paths. I’d rather learn new fights than have to redo these again.

Brand new everests like necro or abyss only drop when there is a major jump in available champs power levels. Probably won't see another one like those until 7*r5s or maybe even r6s/8* drop.

IMO from what I've seen Ares is extremely difficult and frustrating at first but once you get into the rhythm of the fight it becomes slightly easier

The Ares boss is the manifestation of terrible design and greed by Kabam

All I’m saying is they didn’t need to do Herc this dirty. He already got a lot of hate and they added a literal tag against him as an insult to injury. Thats wild lol.

When Ares abilities was leaked and Hercules was mentioned, I thought nothing about it

Until I saw the 7* gates in the content and now I really think Kabam hates Hercules to specifically call him out when he is only 6*

If we leave Bugs aside, this is what each Endgame content should look like. Players have been too lazy and demanding after act 6 1st nerf and introduction of Herc type champs. Only if Kabam can fix AI and Bugs, this might become my fav endgame content after Necro

While the original 6.2 champion is probably still the most stupidly and funny boss designed especially that last 5%, ares is a mash up and mess of ideas that just makes the fight just so annoying.

First off the performance of the game in fights after the 60fps has just been terrible and inconsistent and with vfx heavy champs like dust (I have a r3 and it's not fun playing her with the lag on her vfx hits). I had moments in the fight where the game would free or slow down making the timing impossible to consistently.

The idea of his mechanics are fine but there is too much of what to do and deal with with so muc depending on the ai

My ai is opposite, it gives 2-3 intercepts and backs up, and would love to light intercept you whenever possible.

Its prolly cus they said ares will be a boss in other content too.
In case those are not 7* locked, herc is always an option.
Just to future herc-proof him, they mentioned it.

after 4 runs my revives are getting lower . It was 25 first run, 15-20 2nd and 3rd run and in my 4th run i only burnt 8 revives. While i am slowly getting used to ares's game, i still don't like him haha. Maybe its well designed, but he is not what i would love to fight against. Took me way too many revives to get the hang of it

I'm a bit of a masochist, and love these difficult phase based fights. Grandmaster, Gwenmaster, and the Ouroboros fights have all been some of my favorites.

Ares is kicking the ever loving sh*t out of me right now on my first run (8 deaths on him, and he's barely into phase 2), but most of those have been from the growing pains of learning the timing of his SP. I have little doubt that by the time I learn the fight, it'll be another fight to add onto the "fun phase boss" pile.

Ares is a s special boss in game that lets you do both. Bruteforce reliably and play properly for efficiency. You couldn't bruteforce the previous special bosses. At least not cheaply* . So to account for that they made him harder.

But then again, I'm using the same or event less revives for Ares than I used for my first attempt at grandmaster in 6.1 . So I have to say he's not that different in terms of difficulty. It's just a game playstyle we're all not familiar with. Once you get the eye flash trick, it's smooth sailing.

Did my second run and the fight is actually super easy , still a revive eater but is very straightforward, just look at his eyes every time he points at you and you can tell each special his going to use , the act of aggression sequence are kind tricky being new icons but you can just not punish the special if you don't want to , so not really a problem the last fase bug is kinda annoying but is just one charge so whatever, in general a really good fight , just about getting used to it , my first run was against him was painful pun intended but now that I learned it is just another boss , and probably the best in the game I can see the number of revives used getting lower after each new run .

I'm sonewhere between option 1 and 2 of the poll.

I'm not a fan of the lack of any cues except colour and a split second for the specials - that will suck if you are any sort of colour-blind. I didnt even consider pausing it on my first run but that will be mandatory from herre on.

Also not a fan of the notion that you degen to his health percentage the further the fight goes on when you revive. It's not even like you can buy 20% revives, so you waste level 2's if that's what you have. Doing that at the 1% is a bit of a joke.

Otherwise it is fairly enjoyable. I actually detest the paths to reach him more than the boss.

His eyes are the cues for the specials , one flash for sp1 two flashes for the sp2 just look at his eyes every time he points at you .
And the degen is actually nothing it takes a lot of time to get to his health percentage. You can do a lot of damage and he has no damage cap so it would be just too easy without it .
For the 1% just use team revives and don't heal and cycle between your team and just go for quick intercepts you can take a lot of charges down in a single fight with just 40% health.

First, people complain about the lack of challenging content.
Then they complain when it's released.
    No win.

There is a huge difference between challenging content and something you have to spam revives at. They are not the same.
    Exactly!

My first run at him took like 30 revives. It was not an impressive showing. I just finished my fourth run, only took 4 revives (also, y’all, spider-punk is a MONSTER for this fight).

I love that I’ve gotten so much better at this. I’m looking forward to my last two runs, maybe I can grab a solo

the champ looks great and has interesting mechanics but i just wish there was a bit of an earlier warning during his special because i just don't have the reflexes for it and have to brute force with revives.

even after 3 paths, ares alone takes about 15 single revives and 5 team revives.

it sucks that i can't play him the way it's intended.
