When AW comes back, why not spice things up by lowering potion cost but eliminating all boosts? Boosts can trivialize some of the nodes. It's strategy in the current AW iteration, but was that the intent? We already saw a change in the way power backs function.
Another idea would be to combine AW with this new "Big thing" where there's a mix of path fights and bosses. Those who take the path fights can't do the bosses. It's a little something for everyone.
For those planners out there, why not have diversity for offense? Maybe a bonus for using unique attackers. Lots of things they can do make AW palatable for the lower tiers.

Announcement didn’t actually say if the change will start for the PRE-Season, or just for the start of the actual Season. Although I assume it will start for PRE-Season since pics of defense already has the 5 defenders knocked down to just 1 (although still on old map).
But also, here is a disconnect between when they say the PRE-Season even starts (which says WEDNESDAY), and so maybe the Defense Placement of the new map won't be able to be seen until that time ??? (and for those East, that means Wednesday West/Pacific afternoon time’ish)
(so, maybe chalk up the 1st war tomorrow as a lost war, with only 10 defenders on a 50 node map)
This is so stupid. Literally nobody wants this. Is Kabam trying to drive players away? Listen to the feedback. Not one player I know of wants this. Everyone is opposed to it.

I think the game took the Resource ID for the 10 remaining nodes, and whatever nodes they used to have the same ID on the 50-node map is what defenders are still in place for people right now. (or, at least, that is WHAT Nodes there are. The actual Defenders on them may be something like either the 1st of 5, or the 5th of 5, of everybody's former 5-champ defense)
Seems all 3 groups of mine had defenders on the same nodes as each other BG. (In particular, the only node on Boss Island that have someone on it is the upper/right pre-boss, is that #49 ?)
And yes, strange that the ID's for the 10 that remain aren't just the ID's from nodes #1 - #10 on the old map. Result of random “delete”of nodes, and “drag-n-drop of others to new arrangement, without consideration of the actual “in-code” identification they have.
(unless people have gone in since them and rearranged their defenders, I moved one and it did STICK to where I moved it to)
Also since there's 10 fights you need 10 people to always play in each BG. That means no backup. It means if someone has an emergency and can't join for one war you lose.
Granted it's 2 team slots so you could have someone take 2 fights? Unless there's some requirement that I missed out on.
But overall not happy with this at all. It just seems like it will be the same 10 fights with the same annoying defenders for an entire season. No thanks.

First off, I'm a huge fan of the theme going here...
As a former competitive Master AW player, to where I'm more casually competing in Tier 2 for a P2 spot, I like the idea of the change for a few reasons.
1. I've never been a fan of AW fights getting nuked thru like an arena fight. While there may not be a ton of complexity to this structure, having someone last more than 30 seconds in a war fight and have to really play out the fight, bait/evade/counter multi-specials, etc - this is more fun and telling to me personally.
2. I've also never been a fan of having an officer spend an hour, several hours... planning for the team for a competitive war. I've been on both sides and my opinion a huge waste of that person's personal time. Yes, at times it's fun to strategize and come out on top. Yet putting more time into 'playing' the game or doing something else...👌🏼 Having only 1 fight per member helps with this. Sure, will there still be team members that need to be spoon fed who to use, how to take the fight, do I need a synergy etc... absolutely - but I think this minimizes it greatly.
3. AW even with the recently updated nodes a few seasons ago... it's really stale in my opinion. I was greatly disappointed when the map/node updates was so minimal. Doing something fresh/new, while maybe not perfect for all, it just brings some fresh air to the game mode that I'm welcome to try out, even if just for a season.

The point about needing planners and spending time is valid and one that should be taken into consideration but this is taking it from one extreme and swinging it into the other , taking out all of the fun and interactive node combinations / champ placements and turning it into a repetitive single fight “war” where we will see the same 12-15 defenders over and over.
I also very much disagree with the new map being stale. It is very much improved and has caused scoring to go back to healthy non 0-0 wars , even at the very top.
It’s simply not “alliance war” as anyone sees it now. So why even call it that. This 100% could have been added in as an alternative or in addition to war.
No one has mentioned it but if you die in this with a bad champ, you will need to heal to full 6-7-8-9 times before you lose all your abs. Weaker alliances will have players wanting to quit in abundance. I guarantee it. Then at the top , you will have players run through this and again have super close wars where one player or two will end up “blowing the war” … increasing stress and hostility in both scenarios.
The good news is my expectations are as low as they could possibly be, so perhaps I will be surprised by something better than I imagine.
I think it's an interesting mode but not a suitable replacement for AW as we know it. If it was popular enough they could look to run it alongside existing game modes..?

Kabam, many players still enjoy Alliance War. It's interactive, strategic, and fun — so the core format doesn't need to change. The real issue is not the gameplay, but the lack of meaningful rewards and the high cost to participate.
Here’s what you should focus on to truly improve AW and keep players engaged:
1.Lower the loyalty cost for AW potions and boosts The current pricing is too high, especially for alliances running multiple wars weekly. Many players burn through loyalty too quickly just to stay competitive.
2.Run more promotions or events for AW potions and boosts Reward players with more opportunities to earn these resources — through login rewards, solo objectives, or alliance milestones.
3.Improve AW rewards to match effort and competitiveness Compared to Battlegrounds and other modes, AW rewards feel underwhelming. Increase the value of season rewards to make the effort feel worthwhile.
4.Increase the number of energy paths or remove energy cost for AW movement Right now, some players delay moving just to save energy refills and wait for others to go first. This slows down progress and often causes unnecessary arguments. By either increasing path options or removing energy cost, players can coordinate more freely and enjoy a smoother experience.
5.Give meaningful and substantial rewards to MVPs Currently, the MVP title has no real value. Kabam should offer significantly better rewards to MVPs — enough resources to encourage players to strive for top performance, in both attack and defense. Right now, everyone gets the same rewards regardless of contribution, leading many to do the bare minimum. Proper MVP rewards would encourage initiative, leadership, and teamwork.
Can someone please explain the new only one defender thing in simple terms like you’re talking to a total newb? No one in my alliance gets this. Granted we’re casual players but wtf Kabam we actually enjoyed this part of the game and we all invested valuable resources into a solid defense! Is this a bug? Again, this is like AR-2.0, not like AW at all. If they kill AW, I don't even know how long I might continue to play this game.

I’d like to know how am I supposed to put 10 defenders onto a 50 defender map with zero node changes as it looks like someone at kabam didn’t finish the job they started leaving less than 3 hours till it begins. Why they removed 40 defenders randomly selecting 10 out of the 50 and randomly banged then on the same map we played before they did that. Are they just trying to upset people ?

My alliance plays AW for fun (I mean, we have to, coz a day of superdaily event almost pays more than a whole season for us).
