Kabam is going to open all our crystal reserves.

Well, the fact they are force opening the Mega Egg whilst Brian is away is telling. Also, for those talking about useless crystals, featured 6* and 5* crystals are on the list... Don't be surprised if a crystal you saved for resources because of the small stash size suddenly disappears.

Would have been much more transparent if Kabam just placed timers on the crystals they will delete, instead of a huge list with generic names that no human can correlate with their stash easily. I mean, there are literally two entries for the 6* featured hero crystal.

Why would anybody ever save a feat 6* crystal? Pay more shards to just look at it?
Using the sigil discount and opening them when the pool updates?
They don’t update with the pool. They are locked to the featured pool when you purchase.

It has nothing to do with being transparent. It has everything to do with people saving each of these types of crystals for years. You can't tell me you're saving featured 6* crystals for resources. You have to buy them to store them and they're always available. The pools do not update as it's already been stated. So why are you buying a crystal to hoard that won't have a different pool ever?
I should point out that even if no player hoarded crystals, we’d still have this problem because players quit all the time. If even a single player quits while holding a GMC or Cav for a special event, the fact they never log in again still forces the devs to keep that crystal active in the databases, which means all of us have to keep storing zeros for that crystal in our accounts. Hoarders and collectors are special cases of the general problem, which is that crystals must be kept in the game so long as a) it is possible to earn it or b) someone still has it. Once it can’t be earned anymore and no one holds it, it can be safely removed from the game. But there will always be at least one account that holds a crystal, if for no other reason than they never came back to open it. Periodic crystal purges prevent those crystals from slowing down the game even when few if any players really care about them.

Crystal hoarders don’t *cause* the problem. They are just the players that happen to be the most impacted by the solution to the problem.
Theoretically, if Kabam knows they won't be issuing "Crystal X" anymore, could they then put a timer on that specific crystal, lets say 60days or such? I read your response about timers earlier and agree that dozens of timers would do more harm than good. But would it change if limited time crystals did expire or auto-open?

I didn't think about abandoned accounts. That's a good point.

I am a hoarder; a selective one though. Here is a real question for the people "complaining" or "worried" about this auto opening. Do you guys enjoy scrolling thru 5 pages of crystals just to find the one you want?

I think 60 days is far too less. We'd have to keep track of crystals on top of already having to keep track of resources on a timer. There might be a special crystal that gives a certain resource that's already in overflow. So 60 days is not that long to hoard. Especially when our titan cycle is like what, 90 days? People wait for titan change before opening stuff

I said 60 because I am not sure how often we get these types of crystals and as to not add too many timers. It would solve the problem for abandoned accounts.

I don't hoard and I hate scrolling just to find the max sig crystals from the base lineup.

TBH this is most definitely a attack on F2P players especially, we hoard crystals more so for ISO, gold and other resources. Doing this force open, which is actually invasion of privacy from KABAM, is going to over exceed the extra stash available and then things run out cause there is no ways in hell players can rank up or use the extra items in time so all the work of F2P players goes down the drain. Not very nice KABAM at all!!! Least you can do is make a Realm event like last year wher ewe can open these crystlas towards a comunity based event!

Plenty of 5* and 6* featured which I save for ISO specifically now that will all expire for no reason, slightly unfair!

Why wouldn’t you just get the basic crystal if you’re needing ISO

The least KABAM can do for all of us that may have those crystals is to make a week long realm event where we are forced to open said crystals in that time frame if not then they force open after the event ends Simple

You're standing up for a tiny cross section of this community. Most players probably dont have any 5 or 6* featured crystals they are hoarding for iso. Everyone I know who hoards 5 and 6* crystals for iso keep them in shard form and definitely wouldn't be wasting those shards on a featured crystal. Buying a featured crystal for iso is just throwing away 12 class iso bricks for no reason.

They did that in the past, the fact that some people are still holding on to them is probably the reason why they are doing a clean up...

Then do a short event to force players to open then, I dont see a massive issue in doing something like that. It would be beneficial for every player then.

Really? What's the useful purpose of saving all that junk?

Why would it be a hoax? All those old junk crystals are adding a burden.

because when I open crystals, for example, with 4 catalysts, of which I personally have accumulated more than 900 pieces, I know that they will go into the inventory and after 30 days they will simply burn out. I won't have time to spend that much on leveling up right away. When this "junk" lies in crystals that don't go anywhere, you know that you are provided with something, and you don't have to worry about looking for them later. Yes, at a high progression, for example, 4 catalysts are little needed. but if I want to upgrade all my 5 and 6 * just like that, I will have to go to the game stores and spend any of the resources to buy 4 crystals, instead of spending these resources on the catalyst 6 or 7 version. that's why I consider it a hoax, passed off as server cleanup. in order to spend more resources later, or for a donation, on more "unnecessary junk" in your

You know if you can't rank them those Tier 4 Cats give a great amount of Gold. I'm one who took all my champs 1* maxed 2* maxed 3* took them all to max rank even if it was just r1 4* same thing 5* smae as 3* and 4* and 6* whoever wasn't maxed just brought them up to max at w.e rank they were at and 7* maxed all out so everyone is atleast at max r1. I have no use to go back and rank 4* it's a waste of resources at this point im the game unless kabam does 4* BG tournaments i just don't see the point in using gold and cats on those champs same with 5*.

Do you have any idea how much better off your account would be if you opened the crystals, duped and sigged up your champs, then earned more contemporary shards when you duped champs, then got better seven stars, then made more headway on progression…

Holding a bunch of five and six star crystals cause you don’t want to waste the ISO is like keeping your money out of the banks and losing out on earning interest cause you love to look at your shiny nickels.
