My alliance feels the same. Everyone really liked the new format a lot more. It was also way easier to commit to war when it was so much more manageable
So the war we just did was a trial. Like when they did the DSE the first time. Kabam said they would send a survey about the war out so fill it out if you want to keep it. For now it's back to the original while they figure it all out.
One thing that I really liked was the return of synergies as competitively relevant. And not just Odin, Wags, Heimdall. People were rocking with some much lesser known synergies to manage certain fights.
The old format is stale, it was nice to try something new. Some of the node interactions did not function properly with certain champs but what else is new.
I don’t know why anyone would want to do multiple fights when they could just do one.
Yes back to multiple annoying boring fights that require you to use boosts, and also back to hours of assigning paths the first day, yep not dealing with war until Big Ben is back either.
I don't understand. It's the old Map, but we each have one Champ placed.
I had commented elsewhere the below question (but it was in a Suggestion/Request category thread, so no views), and as expected, this happened to (I assume, everyone's) Defense Setup upon the switch back to old Full Defense format.
So, even though we start out in OFF-Season for couple weeks, in which to get everyone to re-place back to 5 defenders, some alliance will be affected, and will ask for comp and WR adjustments in off-season.
I'll tell you what... since you said please, I'll bring the old map back after this War finishes
Kidding aside, is this something that will likely occur even beyond just the some xx number of hours after wars end today, before the season “technically” ends, and the map can then be swapped over to the prior 50x maps again ?
Currently, PLACE DEFENDERS still shows the 10x, even though placing defenders now would be for the next (start of off-season, back to 50x wars).
I understand why it is CURRENTLY still the 10x. (*edit, well, at least that part did not continue to be true).
**But, when this past season started, people couldn’t even set 10x Defense during the normal 1-day off inbetween weeks time. Wasn’t until AFTER the first war STARTED that people were able to go in and actually set the new 10x map.
In that case (at least), the game randomly picked one of your old 5x defenders, and made them your new “single” defender. And even though Placements were not done, the game randomly puts them onto the map during matchmaking.
NOW (going back to 50x defenders), will people be left with just 1 out of 5 defenders setup ??? Or will the game go back to the 5 defenders we previously had been using (doesn’t help all the membership changes that some alliances may have had since then). Or will there be a ton of EMPTY NODES for the first 1 (or 2) wars this off-season ??

Thanks for this. I will be waiting for that survey 🙂
I really hope it's brought back and kept as the standard moving forward. I've never enjoyed AW as much and I've never seen our alliance so engaged in war. Most people love the one fight aspect of it.
testing is great and necessary but one of the bad things is once players get a new taste for something, it creates a wedge between players so then kabam might have to come up with a middle ground that no one really likes.
i'm curious to see what changes. if they decide the new map is necessary for the more casual players, will they have the resources to maintain two different maps? or will they alternate maps for everyone every so often?
and if there's two maps, won't that cause a big shock when players move up from the one fight map?
i might represent a small subsection of the playerbase but if they instituted the one fight map permanently in the future i would seriously consider retirement. war in its old form is the only thing that's ever mattered.
Tier 4 War, it was a bit of a disaster. I think we are not unlike alot of other alliances in our Tier, with a spread of players from top end Valiant to a sprinkling of Thronebreakers.
The fights were very binary, either the player could handle it was relative ease or it was a complete nightmare. Was a terrible experience for a good chunk of alliance.
For the love of God, no. If this happens again, I'll stop playing for real. My alliance had been getting Masters for eight seasons in a row, with 6 of them being top 10. We got Platinum 1 in this terrible format. It doesn't require any kind of organization and the weakest players completely compromise the War. It creates a horrible feeling of uneasiness for those who are competing. One person alone is capable of completely ruining a war. The atmosphere within the alliance is terrible. This was by far the worst thing they've done to Alliance War. Maybe for everyone who doesn't play Masters, it's a more democratic format, for those who didn't have time or were engaged with the old format, it must have been good. The only reason I play this game is for Alliance War, I like to plan, compete with the best, record my fights and post. 99% of my roster became absolutely useless, since all I needed was one defender and two or three attackers. If this comes back as another game mode, I'll play it again without a problem, but it can never replace the old Alliance War.
Tier 1 in NeXT, I hope Big Thing becomes the main AW. I used less items, spent less time, I didn't stress as much as I was, grey boosts weren't a problem, class boosts weren't a problem and once you understand who to counter on which node it is quite enjoyable and relaxed. Main problem for us was people are so used to do 1-2 min fights in both BG and AW, they couldn't focus on 3-5 min fights. I had so much fun, I hope it returns as a main AW.

does 3 fights a week satisfy your competitive needs? some matchups are almost like duels.
the old map had a lot more variation. the issues you mention like item use can be fixed. also keep in mind that kabam will try and get back all the items that are being saved by players, so they'll make it a lot harder and that's a lot of stress for just 1 fight.

Bringing the right node counters for those healthpools made it more fun.

So what’s the node?
