It’s so easy for the big thing map to run into road blocks as evidenced by the multiple rounds of changes they did throughout the season. Now imagine adding a tactic plus Kabam releasing a 5/5 defender who is tactic the season, add bans into the mix and it’s a recipe for disaster. I like the concept of the big thing map, just the road blocking aspect is not fun
If you got roadblocked then you deserved to be roadblocked. That's not a valid critique. If anything a valid critique would be its too easy and very high tier war players who crave a challenge may not be getting said challenge.
high level war planners had issues with certain defenders and nodes.
imaging giving casual players a similar map but now with bans, buffed nodes, and 5/5 defenders.
I enjoyed the new format of War. Once you understand how the nodes work to gain charges it is very similar to Raids and it was nice to have just 1 fight and be done the rest of the day.
Now from a strategic standpoint I get it is boring because you are only picking 1 defender as opposed to 5 for each player.
But with a game ever evolving it is nice to be done with a fight after about 10-15 mins and not have to log back in to clear 6 to 8 other fights. It is very similar to Raids in that respect, if you get through the mini bosses fast enough you can be done with your BG in a day or 2 and have the rest of the time to do whatever else you would like to with your full team at your disposal.
I think this format should stay but unfortunately many did not like it so it would seem the same will revert back.
How about this- make that format an option to pick? So like how we have Regular Raids vs Nightmare Raids to choose from couldn't you make it possible to choose this new War format vs the Old format? Then each alliance has a choice of how to proceed for each BG in their alliance?
It's unbelievable that you liked the TikTok version of Alliance War. You can't call 3 fights per week a competition. And the worst thing of all is that I've been playing Alliance War since the time when seasons didn't even exist, that is, in addition to the 57 seasons that I've played practically all of them. Seeing the game mode that I like the most and that is the only reason I still play after 9 years have the possibility of being lost and giving way to something like this is sad. And the worst of all: From the opinion of people who have never played Alliance War because they don't want to invest time or don't have the ability to play. Just bring it back with another name and let it happen in parallel to Alliance War. This shouldn't replace Alliance War in any way, not even sporadically. It's the equivalent of ending Football and forcing people to consume and watch Kings League. If it wasn't clear, if you liked it, great. My opinion is that I want Alliance War to continue as it always has. Put this as another Alliance game mode, with another name, so that those who liked it can play it.
I played old alliance war and spending three hours every single war assigning paths wasn't fun, for me or any of the other officers in my alliance. Don't be mad just because some have a different opinion lol
It's not fun to spend three hours setting up an attack, but it's also not fun to do 3 fights a week or to see someone die three times in the same fight because they're not capable of playing a long fight and losing the war because of it. This must be a lot of fun for those who can die thirty times and win the war. For those who play and need to die less than ten times, doing your part and watching others die is not fun at all. For those who are one of the only ones to die, it's not fun either. You only have one fight and you die, the weight of that must be terrible. It's not fun when there's an entire ecosystem of organization and when 30 people planned their rankups to have a solid defense and suddenly, the map has only 10 defenders. And as you can imagine, it's not fun when you face an alliance that spends a lot and they have a champion that was released this week and you have to face him in every group. Instead of losing a maximum of 9 attack bonuses, you can lose up to 30. This map even kills content creation. I have a Sentry fight that lasted thirty seconds. How am I supposed to make a video out of that? And I haven't even talked about attackers. I have over 60 champions above 7 star rank 3. Most of them are Alliance War specific. Designed for different scenarios. Most of them have no use in Battlegrounds. There needs to be room for all people and all types of players in this game. Alliance War is the only space that accommodates me and works for me, as well as for many of my friends. Just create another game mode with this thing and leave Alliance War alone. If you can't commit to it, if you don't have time for it, it's not for you, there are plenty of other things for you to do in the game.
It absolutely is, especially since there are like three other game modes for you to play that are just as rewarding as new AW, nobody has the time or the patience to be planning AND doing a gazillion fights a week along with all the other content.
You said you were in Masters and you're telling me one of your teammates can't do long fights? You can't be serious lmfao if that is the case then maybe stop carrying him and have him look for another alliance that's more at his level? That's what we do, and that's how alliances work if you want to stay competitive.
You act like ranking up defenders wasn't a must these days, it is if you play BGs which you should because the biggest rewards are there currently. You're just complaining for the sake of complaining, you would rank those defenders regardless of how much war you play, and I know because I ranked up a lot of them and this was the first time in a year and a half that I played war.
You just complained about fights being too long and your teammates dying, then proceed to complain that you had a 30 sec fight with Sentry and can't do videos implying that's the usual fight in new AW, so which one is it? If they're so easy and short why are your teammates playing so bad? Maybe they should he in a Gold alliance?
Do you think running this as a different game mode (when they already have a new one planned) is easy and wouldn't take up resources? It does lol and unfortunately for you if most people want this to be new AW then you'll have to either tough it out or leave the game if it's not for you, people come and go all the time it's not like the game will die because some people don't like this new AW format.
You just proved that you have no idea how a master alliance works.
There are very few good players in the game, that's the truth.
Most of the players in my alliance are very good, but a minority are not.
Each player has a specific role. The guy who doesn't play so well plays White Magneto and he fights some fights with him and sets up pre-fights.
There is the guy who plays the mythical champions to play Serpent on any node.
There are those who always follow the same path, who don't give any trouble and don't die in those fights and, as a result, already have the champions to do anything that comes up.
There are players who fight long and difficult fights, who are the ones who take on the bosses.
There are players who play new champions, who are usually the ones who learn quickly.
This is true for any alliance. Even GT40, when it dominated the podium, had bad players. There is no alliance with 30 very good players and there never will be.
So no, I'm an officer in an alliance that has won Master 25 times in the last 30 seasons, with 2 podium finishes and 15 top 10 finishes. There are bad players here and, despite the problems, the map is democratic. Those who don't play the old map probably think they need to be very good or have a very good account to compete in Master, which is not true. There are players with accounts 3x smaller than mine. And yes, there is a planning problem and I know this better than anyone, after all I take care of the planning and it's stressful. But the solution doesn't involve removing 80% of the defenders from the map.
Many positive changes have been made. Bans are now in place, we can now see the defenders before entering the map (before we had to use proficiencies and external tools) and all of this has improved the experience without having to remove all of the complexity of the map.
Other changes were made for this season: There is no blacklist and all global attackers are on the whitelist.
There are significantly fewer global defenders. Without a doubt, these are subtle changes that will make a big difference in planning.
Seems like the only people that enjoy the old format are the tier 1 peeps. So let them have that format and everyone else the new format. Everyone wins. Lol

this is very accurate @ItsClobberinTime. teams aren't homogenous and everyone brings different skills, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and roles.

It depends on the alliance we're facing. But in general, it takes an hour to set up an attack. We have seven officers here. After we're done, everyone looks at the attacks from all the groups and releases them. If there's any inconsistency or something wrong, we change it. Honestly, what sometimes took two or three hours were complex defense globals and very well-targeted bans. For example: The Serpent on Node 9. We managed to do Symbiote Supreme, Kushala, Blade, even Purgatory. There were wars with such targeted bans that we lost a lot of time deciding what we would do with that fight. A lot of research, asking people from other alliances, looking for videos. At the time, we found Dust as a solution. The complexity came from the bans. This next season, all the global attackers will be whitelisted. It will be much faster.

If you can't commit to it, if you don't have time for it, it's not for you, there are plenty of other things for you to do in the game.
So basically you’re pissed because the weaker players in your ally can’t just boost up and power through any fight on the map? They’re stuck because they didn’t adequately plan their single fight or just can’t get through 9-12M health pools when you get an enormous attack bonus?
That's what it sound like lol. I don't understand how they're even upset
As I mentioned in another thread, there will be a survey that goes out to people who played this season. Whether you liked the new format or not, please fill it out and provide feedback so we can get a better idea of how players at various tiers experienced the format.
Dear Crashed, this AW map was amazing, please keep it.
I like the new format better. My Alliance hasn’t been very engaged in AW but saw an uptick with this past season. I hadn’t played in more than a year but this format was much less stressful, much less time consuming and more likely to keep me and others coming back.
Just create another game mode with this thing and leave Alliance War alone. i have a feeling most of the players liking this don't do tier 1. hopefully kabam doesn't let them speak for everyone.
But why should Tier 1 people speak for everyone? Yes, the competitive alliances might spend more, but the others play the game as well Rather than coming to a middle ground or having both, the only solution that T1 players give is that do it our way.

I think that those who have played over fifty seasons of Alliance War have a much better say in Alliance War and should have a greater say in any change process than people who don't play, but have played an alternative mode and enjoyed it. And people need to work IN the office. None of that remote work.
I also enjoyed the new format. So much less mental energy. No waiting for your team mates to finish a fight. All and all just much less stress and more fun imo

I've played war since the beginning. Before seasons was there and when there was thorns and caltrops and stuff on the map.
Many folks have suggested having both modes and letting the alliance select what map they want to play in. But none of the T1 members consider that an option. As I said, it looks like only your voice is supposed to count

That's not how this works, the goal is to incentivize other people to play the game not to let Masters players decide for Kabam and the rest of the playerbase, your entitlement is funny tho lol.
Not everyone likes 10 million healthpool enchantress
I can take my 7* enchantress to rank 4 if you like fighting her
You can go ahead and take her to rank 5 if you want eventually, for us she got clapped in every tile people put her in this last season and we'd very much rather this than an Enchantress and a Zola or some other bs defender on the same path.

Not a comment on your age since I don't know it, but this is the ultimate boomer statement. "Well it's the way we've always done it, so the young folks should just learn to like it our way". And we see where that attitude gets us - the people that like things the way they have been are living the dream and making it harder for everyone else to achieve.
While there is something to be said for the opinions of the OGs holding a greater weight, and I do believe to some degree their thoughts on the subject should be considered more than some (definitely not all), it is incredibly foolish to say that newer players, or even players that have been playing for a few less seasons, should hardly have any say at all. New thoughts and ideas move things forward. Some things are good staying the same, but that doesn't mean that everyone shouldn't have a voice that can be heard and bring differing ideas to the table. Are the newer players gonna have some dumb ideas? Absolutely. But sometimes the old people are holding onto dumb ideas just because they like them.
None of this means AW needs to change, but there's still a worthwhile conversation ahead that involves the entire player base, not just a few.
I personally enjoy the strategy and challenge of the old way, but I also enjoy the time investment of the new way. If they can balance the two, that'd be great. But if I have to pick one, I prefer the lower time investment.

If you can't commit to it, if you don't have time for it, it's not for you, there are plenty of other things for you to do in the game.
i have a feeling most of the players liking this don't do tier 1. hopefully kabam doesn't let them speak for everyone.
But why should Tier 1 people speak for everyone? Yes, the competitive alliances might spend more, but the others play the game as well Rather than coming to a middle ground or having both, the only solution that T1 players give is that do it our way.
i think all players should have a say and that one subsection doesn't impact the other. if gold and silver players want the new map let them have it.
I think that those who have played over fifty seasons of Alliance War have a much better say in Alliance War and should have a greater say in any change process than people who don't play, but have played an alternative mode and enjoyed it. I have no problem with this mode, I just want Alliance War to stay the way it has always been. If I can play both at the same time, even better. I don't want to lose the only reason I play the game, it's as simple as that.
The fact you no-life the war gamemode does not mean you have or should have a higher say regarding this mode.

I don't think it's limited to Gold and Silver lol. Ton of P2 alliances and below also like it. But that's what I'm trying to say. Keep two maps. Let alliances choose what map they want to do war in for the month. It might be more work for Kabam, but that would satisfy both groups
One thing that I really liked was the return of synergies as competitively relevant. And not just Odin, Wags, Heimdall. People were rocking with some much lesser known synergies to manage certain fights.
💯 The ability to always use a synergy was very fun.. it really added a fresh dynamic to AW and had players and officers really taking a closer look at previously forgotten synergies
I'm not saying I don't use synergies in the traditional format (I just did in off season war 1 - KP Synergy for Diablo), but in a 4 - 10 fight format, it's far more difficult to fit them on the team based on the ground you need to cover with 3 attackers
It was basically like a concentrated version of AW.. everything rides on one fight - choose your team well and execute correctly and you have a deathless war and save items.. choose team or execute poorly and it can be punishing

I've played war since the beginning. Before seasons was there and when there was thorns and caltrops and stuff on the map.
Many folks have suggested having both modes and letting the alliance select what map they want to play in. But none of the T1 members consider that an option. As I said, it looks like only your voice is supposed to count
Heyyy a fellow old school person 🤩.. I remember fighting 4 star NC Bosses with 4 star SL But it was Slashed Tires.. on the outer path iirc haha

imaging giving casual players a similar map but now with bans, buffed nodes, and 5/5 defenders.
You say you take care of planning and you're an officer but then you say on a different thread that it only takes 10 minutes every three days? Wow, you gotta teach me how to do path assignments in 5 minutes since the other 5 are spent fighting, totally 5 minutes not 5 hours lmao.
I can take my 7* enchantress to rank 4 if you like fighting her
Yes, the competitive alliances might spend more, but the others play the game as well

ive played all 58 seasons as well, but i wouldnt presume my opinion is all that matters.
But that's what I'm trying to say. Keep two maps. Let alliances choose what map they want to do war in for the month.
