Trying to reconcile the “deals are bad” vs “the deals give an unfair advantage” paradox.

    3. The unfair advantage: a newly made valiant can just skip all the content I worked my ass for, and get almost the same number of r4s I have for cash. This cheapens my effort, and is due to the fact Kabam skipped a progression level for 7r4s.

Luckily, while there are many free to play players who think this, there are fortunately not many spenders who think it is unfair that they pay to keep the game alive while most people freeload the game spending nothing but still getting to play basically the same game.

I know what the online gaming world looks like when they decide free to play is unfair and everyone should have to pay. For the spenders it basically looks like 2009. For the free to play players, it looks like 1909.

Wow this discussion got derailed fast to ftp vs whales.

This isn’t the issue - I am not ftp.
Nor do I think moderate spending or even the occasional binge isn’t fine.

The discussion I started was about how the value of the first dollar or unit spent is far less than the value of the 500th dollar or the 39k unit - which is becoming obscene amounts very few households can justify (in developed countries!).

    I also spend and grind,

I really wanted to get human torch but man the asking price is pretty insane it’s either…

I spend $600 or spend 39k worth of units that’s about 12.5 odins or $1250 ish give or take amount of units

This frequency of fomo of getting an “exclusive” 7* champ chase by going all in on the deals is pretty insane.

They tested this with red and dead offers, then see how far people will go for heart of fire

And now we here, torch for either 39k units ($1250ish) or spend $600 via deals

And the deals to me aren’t even all that… $100 doesn’t even get me full r4 only half, but no t4 alpha witch I also need.

It FEELS like I also need to buy $30 Tony starts to also get t4 alpha also lol.

Because those rank ups from r3 to r4 is consume a lot of t4.

Deals could have gone better. But if they were better people will still complain. I don’t mind waiting till cyber deals till we get better deals

I’m more concerned what is the next 7* champion that will be gated with offers?

40,45,50k units for the next champion ?

Lol let’s seee how they “fix” this years banquet and next year July 4th 2026 if torch will be available or still lock. And what champion will be locked by deals in 2026 July 4th lol

    Doom? Cgr? Who’s next lol

I'm still spending money 💰 on offers but im extremely disappointed that 1 year ago with the Kraven 7* event we could max that entire event with 18k Unit's. Now its 39k Units for J4th not to mention 1 month before those deals went live we just had a 39k Units Heart of Fire Event does kabam really think a ton of players have 80k-100k Units just lying around ready to be used thats absurd and were not even done the year yet or other box key or Omega level events still to come not to mention. Cyber weekend deals and then Gifting 🎁. It looks like we'd need to have close to 150,000 Units or better yet 200,000 Units for 1 year of Mcoc deals that in my opinion is insane.

I suppose it is pick and choose what to target and not assuming it is possible to get everything.

I actually think the deals are almost perfect. Definitely an advantage, but a very short lived one. It’s also very good that they appear to be slowing down the life cycle of the 7 star. I personally am not looking forward to 8 stars yet. What concerns me is Human Torch being a purchasable champ. I had no problems with this when it came to Dark Pheonix because she was a “special champ”, but Human Torch is just a normal good champ. This, in my opinion is a concerning precedent.

Let’s say the deals were structured gradually and there was a more even value gradient: torch is a nice trophy for going all out.

But you have a point, indefinite exclusivity with no clarity regarding the reappearance of the champ is just not cool.

The point about the scale / velocity of value delivery is an important one, and hopefully Kabam will listen. For this event, I think you needed to hit 18K to get the selectors in order to get acceptable value. 3000, 5000, 10000 units were not worth spending.
