Champ acquisition is extremely painful

Todays OG Thor offer got me thinking.
If anyone's ever gone after a champ they want, they know the process very well:
1. Drop 33 000+ units on feature grandmaster crystals for a chance.
2. Grind 700 rounds over 72 hours and or spend several odins on a 70m+ grind.
3. Wait months for the champ to go into the featured pool for a 4.2% chance that also comes with a very mediocre basic pool.
4. Wait several more months for the champ to go into the basic pool for a 1 in 115+ chance.
If we're exceptionally lucky and spent several thousand dollars pulling him and using rare t2as, awakening gems, t5b shards, and precious sig stones, by the time we get them ranked up they will no longer be as effective in the meta as hard counters have already been released if not hard nodes counters in war that weaken them.
If we're lucky and they're still useful, they won't be for much longer as the game has been pushed into the 6* meta and we have to go through this mind numbing wallet killing process all over again.
This is a serious issue with the game. Champs are so difficult to acquire and the time we get them and rank them up, they're not as useful and the game's moved on. There has to be something better than this. It is extremely frustrating to see your hard work and money go to waste like this.

Yes i have (SL.Corvus.Blade.Magik...duped).Iceman.Massacre.Sabretooth.Emma which are unduped. But they can only go so far in monthly quest before requiring the other champs to help you pass the quest.
I really don’t like to say this but maybe learn how to use the champs you have, especially the before mentioned ones........they should be able to help you fully explore every uncollected eq.
With regards to op: I’ve only dealt with option 4, and yes the basic pool is extremely huge unfortunately and only getting bigger.
If that isn't what you want, this game is probably slow torture. But honestly, all online progressional games are like this: people who want the game to "finish" should really play single player games that actually intend to have a finish line, and people who just want to build to a certain point and then remain in a permanent end game should look for games like that: mostly online sandboxes and occasionally some PvP-focused MMOs.
But until this game goes into maintenance mode, and perhaps not even then, I don't see this game ever mutating into a game like that.
I can't really think of a recent uncollected monthly map that SL, Blade, Corvus, Magik, Iceman, Sabretooth, and Emma couldn't bring down collectively, with maybe some help from some low level specialists (like Ronan).
Also, you’re blowing a bit out of proportion. There are numerous champs from even two or three years ago that are still great.
But I disagree it is all in vain. 5* are still relevant. New champions are still relevant. Of course counters will come, champions are not meant to be invincible.
IMHO the Featured 5* needs to be bumped up to top 600 and a Basic 5* needs to be released, even if it is only top 5%. I get the whale milking, but this won’t break the bank by any means.
too hard to get champs. And too expensive to "gamble".
Took me 2 years to get a 4 star BW around same time i finally pulled SW and DS.. after couple month they had the 12.0 update and Booom useless DS and nerfed SW, and many many other nerfs.
Took me 4 years to get a 4 star Hyperion.. i mean come on lol.
If we could rank who we like, not "who we have to, to be able to compete", it would be more fun and less painful.
With scarce resources, we cannot afford to "waste" anything on a "lesser" champ.
Who knows, those champs might be pretty good. I can't afford to find out.
I will get through the content, but the resentment starts to add up. I don't have a 5* GR, if he was in an Arena I would grind for him, I opened the 2 Dungeon Crystals he was in (i think he has been in 2). Sure he is in the featured currently with a bunch of champs I don't want and not worth the extra shards to me. This further stacks resentment.
It is my opinion that this is bad game design. It has demotivated me. I don't get excited to see the new champions because chances are it will be a very long time before I get them. With the 4* ban they should give us more avenues for getting 5*s(don't confuse this with more shards). Like I mentioned before top 600 in Featured 5* would bring scores dramatically down from 70 mil. A Basic 5* Arena is needed. The old 5* Featured crystal was the best thing this game has done, I think that should return. Anything but the current featured system, it sucks (the wait, the basic champs to be specific).
This is my opinion and my experience. If you are not an end game player(like still working on your 1st 6*), feel free to keep your thoughts to yourself.
