Boss Rush Domino Rant

I think its pretty obvious to all the players of this game that Domino who is the second opponent in this months Boss Rush is substantially over-tuned in comparison to the other fights
in MY opinion, the others are a fair fight and give a fair amount of competition for the amount of rewards (I really liked the invisible Woman fight in particular).
Don't get me wrong. I think that the rest of the Boss Rush is amazing but this fight in particular made me very mad (I used my 6* Domino and just used SP3s and heavy hoping for a crit bleed and even after i got her down to 5 percent, i got some bad RNG and i got evaded so many times and before you knew it she was back at 50%)
I really think this fight punishes people who dont have a Void, Mephisto, Dr Voodoo, etc and just serves as an unnecessary pain for those people.
I urge KABAM to take this nerf into consideration

What's the issue?
Although I personally used Void on that fight, I've seen many other champs used. All the boss rush fights seem to have more options that are viable than might originally appear to be on the surface. Generally true in the game, but I think the player creators took specific steps to ensure there wasn't only a single avenue to beat the fights.
I see three things here:
1. It's not unreasonable to think that players should have a roster that can heal block and kill the Domino. My duped 4* Archangel did it fairly easily. How many times are people trying this before coming to the forums to complain? It's only day 1...
2. Who is to say that this event SHOULD be for everyone? How do you keep the top players engaged? how do you put out something that's challenging that even the elite get wrecked on their first couple tries, that keeps them interested and working to get better?
3. The reward is a guaranteed 5*... if you wanted to straight up buy 10k 5* shards from the shop, you'd be spending thousands of units. The average player should be able to save up a couple hundred units for revives and potions and go to town.

I'm Dragon, and I'm part of the UMCOC Podcast - and I took the lead on designing the Domino fight for this challenge! I'm sorry that you're finding it very difficult, but it is a challenge designed to make you think and counter the nodes, rather than the standard approach of countering the champion. I posted my "why these nodes" on twitter, but here's a quick summary so you can better understand.
- Tech champs are an obvious counter to Domino with the "never being unlucky" thing, so by adding Ensnare Tech, selecting a tech champion had a consequence.
- Ghost is currently able to bulldoze tons of content in this game and I wanted at least one fight in the Boss Rush to be impossible for Ghost. Between the 1% Regen and the 100% AAR of Ensnare Tech, this succeeded.
- I also wanted a fight where an obvious counter didn't work - such as Corvus. 1% Regen and Backblast countered him.
- That being said, I did want the fight to have several counters, and I've included the tentative list below of champs that I have so far seen people complete this challenge with.
Here's a list of champs that have effectively beaten Domino as 3*'s or higher that I've seen so far in chats -- Void
- Archangel
- Sunspot
- Human Torch
- Mephisto
- Voodoo
- Proxima Midnight
- Beardo (Cap IW)
- Guillotine
- Mysterio
- Sym Supreme
Void is one of the best options being incinerate immune. Same goes for Sunspot. Archangel can shut down and reverse her regen and is immune to AAR, as is Mysterio (he's a designed counter for her). Mephisto will shut down her regen in the beginning with Soul Imprisonment, making the rest of the fight easy, and Voodoo can constantly eat her regen with his L1.Proxima can complete three missions and then solo her with an L3 (this has been done with both a 3* and 4*), Beardo can land petrifies if you bring a tech champ and then get some solid damage off. Sym can nullify her healing and cause bleed (but be careful of the power gain), and Guilly, if you get lucky, can reverse her regen.
There you go. From the person who helped to design the fight, and has been watching Line chats all day, there is a set list of counters and what to do for each of them.
In addition to those, I've also seen folks successfully using Domino herself with the Incinerate Trinity, Warlock, and a couple of others. Having 13+ counters for a particular fight, especially one like this isn't horrible, at least in my opinion, and was something I strived for when I worked with the podcast crew to design the fight.
Good luck on the fight in the future!

Let me guess what the response will be: Well look at Mr. Monopoly here with his maxed 4*’s. Not everyone has 4’s.
OK here’s me with 3*’s....Just kidding. 3* AA takes forever to beat Domino. Don’t try it.
That Sym Supreme though...oof
Furthermore, we must note that most of the champions that can be used to beat this event, not only require awakening, but a high signature on top of that.
I have my personal feelings against events that require specific champions to be beaten. I don't mind nodes like masochism or buffet that can be worked around or be beaten with a wide variety of champs (certainly with some, more successfully than others). But, case in point, picking up Domino who is undeniably one of the best defenders in the game and has a full arsenal of tricks against you, adding crazy regen and then wiping out the entire class of class-advantage opponents is NOT smart of creative thinking. It's rather lazy and cheap thinking. All in my opinion, of course.
Now, beyond this point, even if someone belongs to the demographic that has these / a few of these specific champions in their roster and properly ranked up and sigged up, and they can breeze through it in a few minutes, there comes the issue of the rewards. The reward is certainly indifferent to anyone who can provide the requested roster, making this event totally unbalanced (roster required against rewards).
To top it all of, we SHOULD make a special mention to the BUGS that keep persisting. You know, like defenders throwing specials mid combo, which happened a lot. So, theory (""yeah, you should be easily do it with your AA or Proxima") can be very far away from reality.
Calling something a "champ specific fight" when so many of the fights in the contest are champ specific seems a bit off, to me? At the end of the day, I'm posting the counter list not to say "these are the only ways you can beat her, you better have these champs or else!", I'm posting it to help people. Because this is a tough fight. I, and the podcast, designed a tough fight. But it's a doable fight.
The list of champions above (which now includes Warlock, Domino, and I've seen people saying they've been successful with Hyperion with Max Despair) is only going to continue to expand as people test and try new things. The list is double what it was when I finished testing the fight and it launched earlier today. (I didn't have a high sig Torch, or Sunspot, or Mysterio, but I've all seen them used as successful counters.)
Saying this event requires specific champions when all you really need for this fight is...a heal blocker? And some good fighting skills? Is a bit much. There's plenty of content in the game that requires the same. That requirement isn't unique. In fact, to use the example you point out - you usually need a heal blocker, or a heal reversal for Buffet nodes. This is something that people are aware of in their rosters, and usually do have a counter for, in some way, shape or form, because it's something the contest requires for success.
The two hardest fights in the Boss Rush, from the complaints I have seen, boil down to a handful of needs.
Domino - Need heal blocker/regen reversal, bonus if you have someone immune to AAR
Sym Supreme - Need a Power Drainer/Power Controller, bonus if you have someone who can tank an L3
Those are, according to your argument, "champ specific", but those are types of champs that are required in a wide variety of areas of the contest and across a wide variety of champions, so I'm not sure how you can flag that as a bad thing? If the requirement were - "Incinerate immune, low crit rate, regen reversal" then, well, yeah, the only real counter is Void, and maybe Sunspot. Then I'd agree with you.
I think you're taking it a bit too far in your assessment. It's not strange or unheard of for a node combination to require a certain type of champion, whether that's bleed immune, double immune, power control, regen reversal, stun lock, no buffs, doesn't rely on debuffs, etc.
Not every fight is meant to be countered by every champion, nor should it be - the Domino fight included.
