Two weeks ago I did my usual deep dive scientific quantitative analysis of the Summoner's Choice options for 2025. There, I applied my 2024 theory of who would win. My overall conclusion was that the top four finishers would be: Daredevil (Elektra), Hunter's Moon, Mr. Knight, and Shroud. How well did my analysis match the actual voting?
Well, the vote is in, and here are our semifinalists:
Three of the four finalists were my #1, #2, and #3 ranked choices, which I think is pretty good. The fourth vote getter was #6. What can we learn from this, and how should this be reflected in the rankings for the final round?
The champion I ranked #4 was Daredevil (Elektra). I assumed being one of Marvel's most Schrodinger's characters (we're never sure if she is alive or dead, and often neither is Marvel) would be a bonus towards darkety points, but clearly the results show the opposite. The character is sometimes alive sometimes dead, sometimes a hero sometimes a villain, she's very grey. And the voters appear to want black and white darkety dark, not grey darkety dark. I should have disqualified her on that basis.
That leaves Power Man originally at #5 and Hellcat at #6. Here, I clearly overweighted banana. I assumed banana would score lower than half a banana, but I failed to properly account for his powers. I was misled by the picture Kabam used to promote Victor Alvarez:
When in fact, had I done proper research I would have discovered:
Yeah, he's not winning any darkety dark points no matter how much necromancy he's into.
So with Hellcat in the top four, the question is what should her adjusted ranking be? She still dresses like a neon banana, but clearly I need to adjust my banana points as they were overweighted the last time. In truth, Hellcat is a difficult character to properly evaluate. On the one hand:
On the other hand:
I've decided to set her banana-adjusted rank at #3. So heading into the finals, we have:
#4: Hunter's Moon - The other Fist of Konshu (any joke here would get me insta-banned)
#3: Hellcat - Like there are any other kinds of cats
#2: Mr. Knight - the non-talking car one
#1: Shroud - not the Batman we deserve, and probably not the one we need either, but still number one darkety dark
Which means the Darkety Dark prediction is: Mr. Knight and Shroud in the finals. But good luck to all the entries.
