I think what many people in this thread are misunderstanding is that everyone who made it to the GC last season was supposed to start in Diamond 4. There are so many people posting about how much of a slog it is to get to GC from Diamond 4, but that was always what was expected. Last season there was an error causing everyone to start in Vibranium 2. This season it was partially fixed; but the error was not putting people into Diamond 4, the error was having some people start at Vibranium 2 again.

I do agree with the consensus that those who get to start at V2 should not be receiving the same compensation package as those who start at D4. There is a huge advantage given to those who start at V2 and a blanket compensation for everyone makes no sense. What are the V2 starters being compensated for? For getting on advantage over everyone else?

Spiral might as well be my favorite champion in the entire game gameplay-wise. I love that she introduces a brand new action like swiping up (I don't count enchantress, punk etc since they are special mini-games). I love her animations, gameplay loop and basically everything. She is the only champion I bought a pre-release bundle for though I felt underwhelmed by her as a 6*. Now that I just got her from a titan a few days ago, with the crit stat focus and 3 points in mystic dispersion she feels so much better (working on getting it to 5). I'm thinking of even r4'ing her after wheel of fate but I have a few concerns.

First off, despite having unique utility, she only targets a few specific matchups like serpent and dark phoenix. I can't think of any other meta defender she works well against and can't see a reason to draft her if these 2 don't get drafted by the opponent. Her utility isn't relevant for most content/defenders and falter immunity is just so much worse than bypassing miss altogether. I don't have the slighest idea why she gains about 13 physical and energy resistance per fervor either, it adds up to a less than %10 resistance to both I believe. Probably the most pointless ability ever in any champions kit, it might as well just not exist.

My main concern is about her general use and gameplay loop though. How would she do if you had to perform specific actions throughout the fight? If you couldn't hit the opponent for a while, if you had to use a heavy attack every now and then, if you had to do light combo enders etc. Without experience in much content I feel like complex node sets would hinder her a lot and make her often unpreferrable. Is she really just a serpent/dark phoenix counter and nothing else? How could I make use of her? I don't see many scenarios where I'd pick her over everyone else. I use Kushala almost everywhere for example, she is just always useful and has insane utility to counter all kinds of things. Spiral's unique utility seems limited to just a few champions but I want to be able to use her as much as I can.

What are your thoughts on her overall? Am I mistaken and can she work for much more than I expect her to? Where does she excel at?

She's great, just don't take anyone who can shrug debuffs (especially stun), have evade, unstoppable, otherwise, she is usable against nearly anyone
