Yes, after a series of back-and-forth interactions with support, and a big nothing burger of silence on the forums, the game team is unwilling to do anything about this issue.

Support's official stance is that the items were clearly described regarding what they can be used on. They will not offer any trade-ins other than what is already in the game, and increasing inventory for excess items goes against game mechanics.

The only resolution is to use one of the available in-game trades—a "take it or leave it" type of scenario.

So once again, visiting the forums or contacting support is a waste of time. It is only available to you as an outlet to simply voice your opinion and change nothing.

Interestingly enough, I did learn something new about purchase transactions:

When you buy multiple things in your cart in a single transaction—either on the website or in-game—and you have trouble with one of the single items or bundles purchased, they cannot reverse or refund just that single item or bundle from the entire transaction.

Meaning, it’s best to buy each item one at a time in separate transactions if you want to preserve your ability to refund or reverse a purchase for any reason.

For example, they were unable to simply reverse or refund the four bundles I purchased that produced four unusable gems, solely because they were part of a larger transaction.

If you bundle your cart into one big purchase, you can only get a refund by charging back through your payment provider or card services. However, that would negatively impact your game account because of the other items you already used. So, that is not really a viable option unless you are planning to abandon your game account completely.

Although it takes more time, it’s best to buy deals one at a time and use the materials more slowly to prevent these issues in the future.

The more they create specific, limited-use items, the more likely this is to occur.

Be careful. It looks like the days of buying out the whole store when sales launch, and opening everything with the trust that it’s all usable, are gone.

If a sales event is poorly designed or bundles are not thoughtfully considered, any oversights like this are not their problem.

There is no more blind trust in your transactions that items will be useful or able to be used at all. Crystals can now award more useless rare items depending on your account progression
