Re: Some clarification on the recent ban wave
You're missing the point. The point is if you take it upon yourself to come up with a workaround for the rules, you're the one that is responsible if it goes udders up.Oh no, Kabam admitted they made a mistake, how embarrassing
How can they be so mean to you
Re: For people who think Kabam is right about bans
Just say you don’t know and something is wrong.I have no idea. However, I do know that Kabam has investigated multiple cases of people claiming they were running 100% legit software from 100% legit sources and were able to determine that was not true. There's no way to know if they were lying or mistaken, but whatever they are using to detect unauthorized software has to be looking for some sort of difference, and since every iOS install from the app store is going to be identical, and thus behave identically, any difference their technology sees has to be the result of some form of unauthorized element in the supply chain.Assuming they aren't lying, how are people playing on iPhones getting banned? Side loading doesn't really work on iPhones unless they're really tech savvy and they claim not to be.None of these bans were random, and so far I have yet to see convincing evidence of a single false positive ban yet. I'm not saying there isn't one out there somewhere, but lots of them? Practically impossible at this point. I have seen more people proven to be frauds when asserting their innocence. Some people were simply unaware they were downloading the game from unauthorized sources. Some knew they were doing so but it was the only way around region blocks. But from what I've heard so far, Kabam has yet to find a single player who was banned incorrectly and hasn't been verified to be using unauthorized software. They aren't saying they can prove those players cheated, but the bans aren't about cheating. They are about using unauthorized software or software derived from unauthorized distribution.
This is my alliance member; he hasn't played Necro, Epoch, or even completed 9.3. He doesn't have an r4 champion. He rarely plays BG. In the last war, he died over 10 times because he didn't bring a proper counter. How this guy can use mods? What is the reason? Can anybody explain this? This is so unethical and frustrating. The worst part is people think they are complaining for no reason. You can't just ban random people for no reason.
.
I'm not sitting in the room while they check, so for all I know maybe they found some problem they are working on that I am not aware of. However, at the moment I am aware of no such thing.
The most obvious reason that comes to mind is account sharing. If they shared their account credentials with a friend, a brother, an alliance mate, and those people did anything weird, Kabam may have detected that and banned them. They might not have been banned for side loading on iOS. They might have been banned for conduct not even performed on their actual phone.
Alternatively, a while ago I saw modded MCOC game clients floating around that came with instructions on how to side load them which did not require jail break. It just required a computer. I will not point to where or describe the details, but from what I could gather, any reasonably competent child could have followed the directions and side loaded MCOC with a laptop and a USB cable onto a vanilla iPhone.

Re: Some clarification on the recent ban wave
This recent events shown a lot of very unnerving issue.
One of which is how certain groups of players in the community having no reservations in condemning, accusing and even borderline abusing fellow players, without anyway really, factual information.
Blindly believe and follow the masses. To think that any company/group/individuals/program can do no wrong, it a scary thought, since no logic could ever be accepted.
Many players here on this forum have been subjected to quite a bit of aggressive accusation and borderline abuse the last few days while at the same time in a mental state of distress and confusion. Hope Kabam review this to improve moderation of the forum in the future.
Any members out there who is confident enough within themselves, do send an apology to whoever they been aggressive to.

Re: Some clarification on the recent ban wave
Good to hear that some people are starting to get back in. I submitted a support ticket 10 hours ago but have not yet gotten a response (not even the standard form response others have been getting) and am still unable to log into the game. Hopefully they're going through the list and will have all the false bans reversed soon enough...
RECENT BANWAVE UPDATE
Greetings Summoners,
Over the last few days, we have been investigating claims of false positives and have identified a group of players we believe were unjustly banned.
In this group, there are probably some true positives, but to make sure innocent Summoners aren't caught in the net we are in the process of reversing these bans.
At this point, we don't know why the system didn't work for these accounts, or why none of these false positives showed up in our test data. That investigation will probably take at least a few weeks.
The accounts that received an unjust ban will receive a compensation package at some point in the next week, though our priority right now will be to continue this investigation to make sure we haven't missed anybody.
We sincerely apologize to the accounts affected.

Re: ATTN KABAM: I have evidence to help with people were wrongly targeted by the recent ban wave
Why even bring it up if you have some special knowledge and can’t discuss it?Hello Kabam and fellow players. I have some evidence that can possibly help with people who were wrongly targeted by the recent ban wave.If you believe you were banned incorrectly, you should open a support ticket.
I play multiple accounts and on Friday evening, only one of them was targeted in the latest ban wave. Since I have played all my accounts on the same two devices for several years, using the same software, this clearly shows there is an issue with the anti-cheat code recently released.
However, while I am not at liberty to discuss the details (I have not even been given all of the specifics, because the implementation details are sensitive protected information), it is possible for a player to play two accounts and only have one of them banned in the recent ban wave. If you are thinking that either both must have been flagged or neither and this proves a malfunction, I have discussed this possibility with Kabam and this specific circumstance can occur without a malfunction.
Of course it can and has occurred without a “malfunction”.

Re: ATTN KABAM: I have evidence to help with people were wrongly targeted by the recent ban wave
I am curious about how two accounts played on the same device installed through the same platform (eg Google Play) could have one flagged account and one not. There would have to be some kind of discriminating variable. That was my first concern, then I wondered if since the ban time seemed to start a little after I had connected my Tesla and phone to the same network if my car tried to data mine my phone and triggered it. It's ridiculous that they suspended my account without actually identifying the "problem software". I can login in now. The suspension message is gone, but haven't heard back from support or seen any compensation.
My best guess is that if someone shared only one of the account's login with a third party who had a modded game it would cause the disparity, but that's already its own TOS violation that would be handled separately.
I do think that there's something hinky going on given the sheer volume of players sharing screenshots of their game install details as being from the Google play store. (Yeah I know Photoshop exists but I generally don't attribute to malfeasance what can be attributed to ignorance.)
The conspiracy-theorist in me wonders if Kabam has accidentally uncovered some kind of clandestine malware running on people's phones against their knowledge.
