My 11-Year-Old Account Got Banned Out of Nowhere — A Veteran Player’s Frustration
I’ve been playing Marvel Contest of Champions since December 2014—yeah, nearly 11 freakin' years. I’ve stuck around this long because I’m a die-hard Marvel fan and love the combat mechanics. But man, it hasn’t been easy. There were times I wanted to rage-quit after getting destroyed by insane quests, losing progress because of cheaters in BG mode, or dealing with endless bugs and connection drops mid-fight. Still, I never gave up. I wanted this game to thrive.
Over these 11 years, my life changed a lot. I moved countries, built a family, and my daughter literally grew up watching me play this game. It’s been part of my freakin’ DNA.
Then yesterday, I logged in and boom—my account was banned.
The reason? "Using a modified client." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I’ve been clean for 11 years. I don’t even sideload apps—my APK’s straight from Google Play. Whatever new "detection system" you’re testing clearly messed up. Check the logs again. Check my play history. Check literally anything.
If you’re gonna mass-ban longtime players over false flags, who’s left to keep this game alive? We’re the ones funding it, grinding it, breathing life into it. Fix this. Don’t make loyal players like me feel like our years of support mean nothing.

Re: Some clarification on the recent ban wave
If they don't fix it by end of Monday with compensation then I'm done. Some legit players suffering now. Kabam don't listen anyone. If they did than it's final. No proof allow 🤣😂. For me it's 7 days. Ok fine. I don't know if they compensate me or not. When 7 days expires I screen record again full process installation from Google play because I don't trust kabam anymore. They do again this ****.But they should ban 1 by 1 at the time they are using mod.. don't ban 10000 people.. it's useless systemKabam should answer proper 10000 people why they receive a ban without any reason . I don't use mod or something else but still receive a banNo, I objection their bans but not all banned users are innocent. Actual cheaters and modders included there.
Re: If downloading games from unofficial channels is illegal, why not ban in the first place?
What are you even on about homie? Your essentially accusing kabam of stealing at this point because you think they somehow owe people who broke their ToS refunds. If anything you need to get a clue. And for your information, I'm someone who actually reads the entire ToS and follows the rules as prescribed. Seems like you probably need to learn to do the same. Why can you stand on the moral high ground and accuse others at will? Who are you?Yes actually it is stealing. If a player is playing the game through alternate means, that's stealing space on kabams servers they paid for with Google, apple etc. Just because you can't seem to wrap your head around the metaphor does not make it wrong. Can you not be so shameless and use irrelevant metaphors to make a fuss? Who stole? Playing a game of yours is stealing?I can guarantee you they will not be getting a penny of whatever they spent back. Thats like someone getting arrested for stealing money but they buy stuff or donate to charity. You think that person deserves a refund? Kabam is going to keep the money i promise you that.Since they have long considered these to be illegal, how should they deal with the money spent? Can Kabam collect money from illegal sources? What are you on about? It's never been ok to download the game via other methods than the authorized ones. And they have periodically sent out in game mails saying so for years. So there always been a warning they only just now have the tech to identify it easily. After such a long time, they suddenly use a ban to notify customers who have paid, saying that the client you downloaded is illegal and in violation of regulations? Not even prior notice?Who taught him to do this?Using an app that was illegally obtained in the first place!!But it accidentally killed many players who played games in a law-abiding manner.BG is actually really tame right now today. And not a modder in sight (Diamond 3 to GC, 104 points, just today). So it does seem like the ban worked as the app was probably sideloaded and modified for the BG cheaters. Why don't they seriously catch those who actually violate the rules in BG mode, but suddenly ban a lot of innocent people who have never used cheating software? So, before Kabam adopted this new technology, these accounts were compliant, but after it was adopted, they became illegal?no, they were never compliant, they're just enforcing their rules. as far as i know, and i'm 99.9999% sure, using modified software has always been against the TOS.
i totally get your frustration and even if you didn't gain any competitive advantage, they're clamping down hard on the cheating ecosystem.

Re: If downloading games from unofficial channels is illegal, why not ban in the first place?
I don't want to argue too much with you, I just want to explain the simplest issue. Kabam acquiesced to the so-called illegal download of the client, which has been running for several years, and suddenly banned all of them today, and he also took the money. Is this reasonable? Shouldn't he at least notify the players first and tell them to change the download channel in time? Is it a mature game company's thing to ban directly? And everyone has already told you exactly what the answers are. Kabam has NEVER acquiesced to illegal downloads. They have warned people in game vial mail for YEARS. The time has come due thanks to new tech that finally allows them to find it easily. Before it was difficult to tell and they had a hard time figuring it out, so anyone who paid for things in game, kabam didn't know if it was illegal client or not. It's not rocket science to figure it out.

You are just a pawn defending Kabam. Normal people have a sincere heart. They have played this game with their friends for several years and even spent a lot of money. To ban them without even getting a clear warning in advance is, in my opinion, an extremely irresponsible behavior. What part of clear warning is confusing you? They have warned people. Many many times over the years. They just finally acted on it.

Re: Some clarification on the recent ban wave
Good job Kabam!! Instead of going after real cheaters, you ban these poor guys without even a prior notice (should have been one month notice, i.e. for next update). All thanks to this new 'tech'...
So when do we expect some 'tech' to fix the game?? Missed inputs (block, parry); lag ; huge loading time, especially in battlegrounds; bugged updates every single time; super powered AI...

Re: Some clarification on the recent ban wave
But how they said that I sideloaded my game? Monthly I updated from play store. Now I think that they don't have actual data from where players downloaded it.95% of the game is free to play.I know kabam won't do anything that issue. They just wanted to out all FTP players. They said to me that I side-loaded this game! How they detect this? But actually I downloaded it from play store and recorded a video as a proof. Their detection system is poorly poor. Here's the only proof that I have. I only downloaded it from Google Play store. They're honestly not going to give you a proper reply. Think about - there are up to (about) 10,000 people saying that they are falsely banned. A good chunk are sending inquires to their support, and many are probably sending multiple reports that clog it up even more. On top of that, you have the regular support inquires, all on a weekend.
But kabam respond me to that I sideloaded this game from somewhere else. It's absolutely ridiculous. Screen video Drive link given below-
I know kabam wins always but I need a proper reply, I'm not satisfied their 1st response.

I'm certain you'll get more info from Kabam on Monday or Wednesday at the latest (whether that answer will suffice or not for you is a different matter). But I'm Kabam support won't be doing anything at the moment.
Different take on "The Ban"
Starting with I was not banned 😅, been playing on and off and been active for past 7 months I would like to understand a few things
1. For people like us who are not banned do we receive any compensation being amongst cheats for such a long time and some being let go with warning? 🤣 or I guess being faithful or fair is taken granted then.
2. If downloading game from any unauthorised source doesn't give any unfair advantage then couldn't a better solution would have been a warning through mail and a deadline for those using - to avoid this chaos
Part of the post is just me wanting free resources (I'm just being honest) and the other part feeling bad for genuine players (if any) who got banned for playing fair(no cheat or hack) but having downloaded the game from non authorised source.
Kabam definitely is right in asking people to download the game from authorised source but if people are being permanently banned then it has to be more than a download issue so it might make sense with different version of ban as different punishments.
Ps:- If cheaters are being punished then fair players can be rewarded too 😜
