Not if they light intercept you the second you attack
And they also perform a well-timed block/parry if you try to hit them while they are walking towards you it is annoying.
That seems to be what I'm seeing. The AI has been upgraded to add a new behavior to its repertoire. Instead of just turtling in block it deliberately releases block and invites you to attack, which gives the AI the opportunity to either "attempt" a well-timed block (a computer cannot possibly fail a well-timed block except deliberately) or an intercept.
If that is a universal upgrade to the AI, that is potentially very, very, very nasty.
I have to agree. I watched seatins video earlier of the champion boss and how he was just walking towards him. Thought nothing of it. Then I went in to fight after the update and its doing the same thing across all types of content. Its very strange and very different.
Hopefully this is fixed before all the content drops tomorrow.. nothing worst than a passive AI
I wouldn't call it passive. The AI is doing all sorts of different things now so different people are noticing or reporting different things, but the thing I'm noticing most is the AI seems to have a "counter-punch" mode. If it decides to enter this mode there's usually a "tell" - the AI will twitch by holding block for an instant and then releasing it and stand without block. During this time the AI has decided to counter any attack with a well-timed block. Almost every time it tries, it succeeds. Rarely, it also seems to attempt intercepts (although this may just be the AI leaving counter-punch mode and just attacking, and I'm coincidentally attacking at the same time: hard to say). The only safe way to escape this mode is to just stand there and hope the AI changes its mind, or to back away and force the AI to chase you across the screen.
This works in the arena, if you remember and your twitch reflexes don't take over. But in something like, say, Alliance War, where the defenders also have Parry like in the arena but the fights are timed and lots of defenders are just waiting to push you up against the wall, this behavior will likely straight up kill a lot of players all on its own.
Also, I'm not sure this can be "fixed" in the sense that I don't think it is bugged. This feels like a very deliberate change to the AI, not a bug that has caused the AI to go haywire. It is just too tactically specific: at least the lure to well-timed block behavior. But as this is a dramatic player-facing change, Kabam is supposed to inform players such changes are coming (as they've stated in the past is their official policy).
Whether this is an appropriate change to the AI or not, is a separate question.

Well... no, there have been no changes.
This is gonna end up like the AI throwing specials while you hit their block type of thing.

Oh no... I havent played the new update yet but some of the footage looks funky.
Also quite annoying when they decided to go passive on Act 5 bane. They just stood there so I couldn’t pass the bane back and then intercepted as soon as I lost patience not wanting to lose more health.
This is the same behaviour that previously allowed players to throw a light attack and make NC (or any other champ) idle for a while to make him switch modes. Pretty annoying bug as it can easily throw you off.

Either @Kabam Miike has been misinformed, or the AI is self-evolving into Skynet.

I’ve experienced it in act 6, the path was the tenacity path in 6.4.6, when I finished a combo they would just stand and walk in, happened once every opponent but the Phoenix was the worst culprit

Was doing ROL farming with Sunspot
I know rol has a slightly different ai than most content but WS was WAAAAAAY to passive I’d do regular combo and try to parry but he would just stand there until incinerates would all shrug off He would walk up to me when I dashed back

In the arena, the AI seems to be doing the same thing regardless of opponent and regardless of which champions I have on attack. The defender will hold block for a split second, then release and just stand there. If you attack the AI will generally block you with a well-timed block which triggers Parry if the account the defender was pulled from has Parry. The only way out of this is to either stand and wait for an extended (and random) period of time, or back away and force them to chase you across the screen. It is happening frequently enough that it basically happens in every fight if the fight lasts long enough.
This is dramatically different from in the past, when this was at best an relatively uncommon event (the AI parrying you). And the "twitch" where the defender holds block for an instant and then releases it, which causes a visible twitch in the stance of the defender, and then the defender just stands there wide open but waiting for you to attack so it can counter you with a well-timed block, is as far as I can recall completely new.
Can confirm in LoL as well. Starlord and Jane Foster walking up to me after 5 hit combo. When I dash back, they keep coming until I hold block and they either do 1 hit and heavy or go straight for the heavy. Oh... and that light intercept. AI has all but mastered it. Really frustrating. Practically ruined my attempt at a LoL path. Staying away till it's sorted.

Hey @DNA3000 the AI does this, week in, week out in map 4 AQ. That well timed block and stuttering walk up and light attack intercept, is there all the time.
I've not seen this AI outside of that game mode before however. But today, it's everywhere!
