I don't think this necessitates a rewards bump in and of itself but I am still quite wary of this change. Some of the tags just contain trash champions. Which Guardian of the Galaxy am I supposed to have ranked up? Gamora and Star-Lord are the only real choices there and that's a pitiful selection. The Mercenary tag is a little broader even if Variant 8 still demonstrated that a lot of people don't have any mercenaries ranked up.
It goes on and on like that. A-Force has CMM and She-Hulk worth ranking up, with OG Scarlet Witch still being a fairly rare 5* champion and Sigil Witch being locked behind a paywall. There are some good New Avengers while the Fantastic Four is a very limited pool by definition. All in all, it feels like a fairly small selection of viable candidates.
We'll see how it all works when the new EQ drops tomorrow but on paper, this seems like the absolute worst part of V8 being reforged for the EQ and that makes me a little worried.
The fact that we get 24 hour notice of the changes is fairly insulting.
Would have been more respectful to the player base to have a little more lead time so We could have better allocated the resources acquired over the weekend.
Guess I'll be skipping this month since I only have a few of those champs ranked up. Oh well, there's always next month
I think this is a little extreme. In the past we were still able to use any champion we wanted in the levels even if there was specific class bonuses. I use to use warlock/g99 on the mutant level that inflicted bleed on the attacker. The levels are locked to the specific tags.
Not extreme at all. I still have variant 8 and plenty of act 7 to do. Since the EQ is not designed for people like me, I would rather spend my time and resources to something that is, such as act 7. Not to mention I have other things outside of this game I need to tend to.
The words were underwhelming to say the least ever since cavalier difficulties started then they up the difficulty add mini bosses all the while the game is broke and still do not of the rewards. I don’t even play it anymore. I don’t have much faith that they will make a decision that the player base is pleased with.

At this point why not just make a thronebreaker difficulty and save some trouble?
So changing from class to tags increases difficutly?
I would say yes if you consider that there are only six classes but much more tags, so it's easier to have a couple of ranked champions for each class than for each tag, even if they group more tags together. I don't want to say anything about rewards, but I do believe that going by tags makes those nodes harder to take advantage of ^_^

Like @te_dua_shum mentioned, I’ll add that for example you take the #avenger tag. Personally I don’t have a single avenger above 6*r1 or 5*r4 but have full teams of every class at 5*r5 or 6*r3. So difficultly is raised if people don’t have those champions ranked. Although if the levels are made so any champion can do it but take longer then that’s okay it just sucks to take more time out of people’s life’s.
I dislike both class and the tags just as a heads up. Hate both things completely. Wish they'd do away with altogether. But I don't think it warrants an increase in difficulty.
But the argument y'all are making is the same for the class restrictions. Some had diverse skill rosters some didn't.
I respectfully disagree with you here. Maintaining Rank ups in class based restrictions is more essy and less confusing than tag system. For example, How many of us actually have r4 or r5 5 stars of Avengers tag. Same goes for dimensional being. I am not saying Magik isn't good but many new or people who joined game 2 years ago might now have even ranked her up. Then we have problem how many of the champs one can actually take ro rank 4 or r5 from specific tag. I might be wrong but SS and g2099 type champs don't have tags( like villains or something else) or like overseer. My point is that there certain champs in certain tags who are actually good to rank up than others. For example Thanos army have 4 if I am not wrong. Apart from Corvus, how many of players would actually rank Ebony maw( I have him at r3 6*), or would take risk to take CULL to quest were he can die in block damage on some fights. Or proxima which is just a pass on champ because there's no actual content to shine. She have true accuracy ( I may be wrong here )and some other utilities but is outshined by her own tag partners and Class champs too. Tag is more restrictive than class. This is story of many champs of which fall short of not their own weakness but out shined by the other champs or their own class and tag.
So this gives people less choice for rank up for up coming Eq because they don't have good champ for that tag node and hesitate to rank up. Plus new nodes ( on paper tho as of now) are more punishing than Class nodes if you don't have certain champs. Simple example:- I used my G2099 on science and mutant nodes due to her immunity and damage if the themes was poison and bio hazard respectively. There were other champs who could work on cross class chapters with min punishment or without punishment and without any bonus. But it was doable. But new tag system nodes are restrictive than class ones. For example unlockable theme. I don't want war machine out there if I don't have that particular tag champ ranked up. Usually I reserve my judgement till I test personally. But with experience and time, I think people can actually tell even a little bit by looking at info passed on paper tha is it beneficios or gonna cost us. I am TB myself. I explore Eq within day of release. More than Half of the time I don't even read guides about new bosses. I barely use revives ( tho I use ton of pots which I grind before hand from ROL). I was one of the few people who were happy in increase or CAV EQ difficulty from past 5 - 6 month. But this time, it feels off.
Every champ belongs to certain tags, which ultimately are integral part of one of 6 class. Going by class is 1/6 of restrictions but going with tag is more restrictive.
Another thing that I think may bother me (but I'll hold my judgement for now) is that it's much harder to rank up 6* champions to match the requirements than it was to rank up 5*s. When Cav difficulty was first introduced, I could rank up 5* champs at a fairly quick pace to keep up with the requirements, but nowadays I find it so resource-intense to rank up 6*s that I'm not sure I could keep up.
It won't be a huge problem since they said these will be the last changes to the difficulty in a long while, and I have a roster that will most likely be able to take on the content even if I have to skip the cross-fight boosts, but it's still...hm. I have a lot of champs from the various tags among my r1 6*s - Squirrel Girl, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Sabretooth, Taskmaster - but every such rank-up would set me back significantly when it comes to my other-content rank-ups. I'm even less inclined to waste precious resources to rank up 5*s just for EQ.
Hopefully we see a change to the availability of high-tier resources next year so that 6*s become easier to rank up. If so, that might change my view on all of this.
One silver lining about this - cross fight charges can theoretically be taken to the boss. Old Cav EQ never had the global nodes on the boss. If these are crossfights then they may track differently and allow those champs to go into the fight with extra attack.
It also appears there is a higher ceiling - 300% attack from the ones earned in the fight and up to 150% attack from converted passives. Maybe it shortens fights.
Getting TB these days should be a non-issue. When the title was released a year ago, there were tons that already had R3's before when T5cc was way more scarce. The same problem remains today though, people want TB handed to them. If you're not exploring act 6, act 7, doing a pass through abyss or map 7 or 8, you can't complain that T5cc is lacking.

Yeah thats how I read it too which seems quite good. Also, aside from one where you need to use specials should all be pretty suicide friendly.
It's refreshing sometimes to use a different roster, charges can make 6*r1 or even 5* r3 champs viable and fun to try out something that isn't the status quo.
The whole OP is biased from the start. The Cav EQ is getting neither tweaked nor more complicated. They just choose to boost different champs / champs from certain groups to get benefited by the nodes. You can still use whoever else you want. That being said, if you are a Cavalier player it goes without a saying that you have a decent and balanced roster to actually get the benefit from the nodes. If you don't, well, blame it on the youtubers and their Tier lists that you have been following all this time. And noone forces you to complete or explore from the first month. Build up that roster and you will do it eventually.

Make those disagrees rain.
“If you haven’t ranked up objectively inferior champs blame it on youtubers and tier lists”
Ok, scooter. That’s my bad for ranking up Hercules instead of Drax.

Good call. Drax is apparently the only champ that benefits from the nodes. Noone stops you from using Hercules... scooter.
So here is what I am not looking forward to with this new set of cav nodes, filters being relatively useless to help select champs for the quest. With the class based nodes, you figure out which class is for the quest and then click say mutant and every champ that the nodes will benefit is listed. But now if the node is for defenders and illuminati and thanos army, you cannot see all the champs with any set of filters because the filter by tag is set to "and" not "or". So if you try to filter by defenders and illuminati you would only get Namor as he is the only champ with both tags, if you add in thanos army you get zero champs as no one has all three. So you will basically have to filter by one tag, then clear it and filter by another tag. Or I guess memorize all 200 champs and their tags.
Just did a run through of the 1st map. Seems the tags are actually pretty optional? Or.. am I missing something? I have a pretty diverse roster so I played along and used tagged champs, but it seemed entirely optional?
Does the damage Cross-fight apply to all champs? If so.. great. But even if not, can just select your team according to their ability to counter each specific path (as in normal story content, etc)?
I'll do more of it to finalize my opinion, but it seems like a cool way to offer different players options. Of how they would prefer to clear it. Older players with more diverse rosters can play along with the tags to make it more interesting. And players who have less options can just bring their strongest champs, maybe with an occasional tagged champ sprinkled in.
So excited to jump in to the content like every month but when previewing the 1st quest I lost interest for the 1st time, personally considering skipping cav this month now Started reading another long list of nodes and just can't be bothered in all honesty. Happy to have a challenge but fed up of having to deep dive everything
I think the rewards for Cavalier difficulty are already outdated regardless of the change. The health pools are too high and now with the tags it is going to take even longer to finish.
I think Kabam should go back to class based. Far more options overall and will encourage us to use the champions who gain buffs. Unfortunately players on the same caliber as myself or higher typically don't complain on the forums so it is likely this is here to stay.

Great feedback. Keep in mind this is not a permanent change, and that these Buffs are being added to the Pool of Cavalier Buffs that we rotate through, and are not just sticking with these going forward. But I'm seeing some feedback here that I'll be sure to pass on to the team.
