I share this sentiment, and even went as far as creating a thread months back asking if the Forums were dead… I think based on the Banquet it’s safe to say that for the community, the Forums remain alive for many of us looking at the engagement then.
But outside of of Crashed and the occasional Rex or Pinwheel sighting the forums no longer seem to be the priority for the communication team, which is a shame as it used to be the place to go to get all the details.
Nothing against expanding the teams presence to other more popular channels that attract new players to the game but most social platforms are inferior communication tools. Limited either by noise (Discord), character limits (X), or entertainment prioritization (twitch). The forums back in the Miike days, even if there was some flaws in communication style, never lacked for the detailed information needed for Side Quests, Events, Rewards, etc.
It’d be nice to get back to that. So couldn’t agree more with Dr. Zola here.
One thing I think we have been doing a lot more lately is building up the website with a lot of that information (it was one of our glorious reveals after all haha). Would it be helpful/still feel like appropriately addressing the forums if we made threads for this content but linked out to those pages? Or is the preference for everything to be natively in the forums, curious on how folks feel about this
I prefer the forums most, because (like you're asking is to do, now) it's actually able to let us provide instant, searchable feedback.
Here's feedback of a potentially unrecognised issue: One problem with the main MCOC website is that it's extremely easy to get to the forums from the website, but impossible to travel the opposite direction if you're using the mobile version of forums. Can this be changed?
On a computer, on the forums, there's a link to the MCOC website, if you click here:
On the mobile version, there isn't:
So if you're using the mobile version of the forums, which is what i think a lot of heavy users do, there's no actual link to the MCOC website; or at least none that I can find.
Also, another thing that's changed in (disappeared from) the main MCOC website recently, I'm going to summarise in this picture:
There used to be a section on relics - where did it go? I mean, I know they aren't top priority right now; but the information was there, and now it's gone...

As long as it’s (1) primarily somewhere and (2) there’s opportunity to ask questions and/or interact.
Website is beautiful. But I can’t get a Pinwheel or Crashed commentary there.
Dr. Zola
Super fair, thinking pinned threads in general with maybe an intro and the link so that folks can get the information in the pretty place and then also have room to ask questions here. Sounds like a solid plan

Thank you for pointing this out! Will take a look and see if I can replicate that flow for mobile users.
With regards to relics, that page still exists! Can find it here: https://playcontestofchampions.com/relics. As part of the restructuring of the website it got taken off the top line just to make things a bit more streamlined, but we can look into ways to make it a bit more accessible in the future!
I am not exactly sure if I missed it, or it wasn't done due to the holiday. I couldn't find a simple thing like this month update post. Its not a biggie; but the SQ for example was confusing cause I didn't know if one key consumed and the other didn't, if I could restart a quest cause I went in blind (completely my fault for not reading; but MCoC players don't read😑). Its not a huge deal but its a little thing that moght go unattended and repeat being unattended. The current engagement on communication, I am split. I find it a lot more friendly in the sense that the interaction is almost on the side of what a player would say, and that's might be a good thing and not so good on the other side.
How about a compromise any communications on discord be also posted here simple as a copy paste. Frankly other devs that social management instead of full write ups post links in other social channels to the official posts on a website or in this case the forums, a prior established community hub
Any announcements we make to the discord should be cross posted here. As in posts in the announcements channel, though I understand that doesn't encompass other replies in other places in the server. If those announcement posts aren't making it over that's a problem and something I want to fix.
Lots of good and understandable feedback here. Absolutely is the case that we are in more places than ever because we want to provide more options for a greater variety of players. That has admittedly come with a division of attention that y'all are understandably pointing out. While it may be tricky to match the levels of response when the forums were really the one spot for communication, I am working to get that level up for sure.
Try to tidy up the stickies here and there, will take a stab at it now for a proper end of week cleanup.
I’m more concerned about responses to bug reports more than anything else. Some get attention while others , like this one I’ve tried to highlight for months , has gotten no reply.

Yea I think some stuff got missed with the holidays and the return from holidays, back to full steam this month so won't be a repeat for February's info posts

What more can a person do to try and get an issue looked at?
No you're doing the right thing, honestly think with this specifically seems like a casualty of timing, just before the team change and then again right as went on break for the holidays/banquet was starting. I'll see if I can get some info from the team on this and pass it along

As you take the Aegon specifics, please add Ghost in with that. Often times at the start of the fight, if you let the opponent swing into you any amount of times, they will dex whatever hit you throw to counter, no matter how good your timing is.

I'll throw out another request for bringing banners back to the forums. The amount of posts we get about things like AW season delays could be minimized with the occasional banner.
I’ll also point out that as has been the case with a different community team in the past, important announcements get combined or mentioned in other posts or responses to other posts. For example - announcement of AW delay in hotfix thread. Many people had no idea it was being delayed. @KabamPinwheel

100% understand that and agree...the forums are a bit of a pain on the backend for stuff like that but it is a really useful tool that we should take advantage of more when the situation demands
What are the team’s capabilities for posting videos? Specifically, I’ve stumbled into mistakes because I don’t have time to tune into livestreams midday. It would be great to be able to watch when able or to have some kind of transcripts/down and dirty summary equipped with whatever visual aids you used on stream.
As an old-time forums denizen, I sometimes feel like I’m waiting for the newspaper to arrive when everyone else is already five stories ahead via the interwebs.
Dr. Zola
All livestreams should exist as VODs on both twitch and YouTube, do you mean like a cut down/condensed version?
Past streams seem to disappear on twitch after a week or two. Right now can only see last weeks stream.

yea twitch only keeps them for two months I think, which with our cadence usually means the last two streams. They don't disappear on YouTube though, just need to go to the mcic channel and click on live I think it is, should all be there

I’ve got nothing to add at the moment but it’s encouraging seeing how engaged and responsive you’re being with all this @KabamPinwheel
The forums felt like the red headed step child left to toil by himself. I understand the turnover brought significant change but it seemed there were promises of open communication that was unfulfilled or just disregarded. Refreshing to see your exchange on here with a lot of the long term forum members.

My apologies for this hijacking this awesome communication thread, but since you're passing on community info, is there any chance you could pass this small request on? While the daily super event has been/is a fantastic QOL change, could the 15% attack boost possibly cycle through? Giving orange, green, red, then repeat? I'm in no way complaining, I can't imagine I'm the only summoner swimming in orange attack boosts. Glad to see you around today

Perhaps. I mentioned a transcript or something like that—what becomes burdensome is having to hit multiple platforms to get complete information.
Since it sounds like we are talking website being the main hub, maybe make the jumping off point for everything (videos, forums, etc.)?
The concept of a main portal, where you land and then go where you need to go, makes sense to my feeble mind. If I have to go to YouTube to see this + website to see that, everything feels very scattered.

yea twitch only keeps them for two months I think, which with our cadence usually means the last two streams. They don't disappear on YouTube though, just need to go to the mcic channel and click on live I think it is, should all be there
For this specific point perhaps a banner containing a link to the vod on YouTube would be sufficient.
Or: Maybe if we dont want to go down that route providing the vod link as a part of either an official kabam stream transcript.
On the website somewhere but that would only make sense of we take other suggestions of consolidating info into account
Maybe on Ackbars stream recap threads that are usually pinned? Example could be that if he posts one yall could edit it with a link to the vod.
I'll admit I'm usually tuned in to what's going on in the battle realm but this has been the first month where the info has been so split and incomplete that I genuinely gave up and decided to just pieece together what was going on in the game after I updated.
I just wish the Trello board was still kept up to date. That would help a lot.
It is! We paused it over the holiday break (theres a note on the board saying as much just so folks wouldnt think we stopped it) but we meet weekly with the game team to go over existing issues and then I update the board on Friday afternoons. This week's update should be there in the next hour or so!

It is. We have Trello meetings where we discuss open issues, and update the board each week.
The original announcement stated that it would be updated on Fridays to account for any last-minute updates found throughout the week - and there's a note on the board stating maintenance will return weekly on schedule after the Holidays in January.
Ah. That's good then. Last time I checked I didn't see quite a few of the more recent issues on there. It seemed like it hadn't been updated in quite awhile.
Or is the preference for everything to be natively in the forums, curious on how folks feel about this
As long as it’s (1) primarily somewhere and (2) there’s opportunity to ask questions and/or interact.
I do love when you make time here Pinwheel. Thanks so much for the interested engagement on this thread. It’s a situation where it’s clear you guys are trying your best to juggle many things, and responses like this are infectious and do make me believe that it’s just a matter of time
Many plates to keep spinning but thats the job haha. I'd much rather have folks pointing out they feel undeserved then not caring at all. Have a really passionate community here so want to make sure we keep that excitement up!
Also @Giantwalrus56 I can pass it along, though no promises on any changes right now haha, not something I have control over haha
Ah. That's good then. Last time I checked I didn't see quite a few of the more recent issues on there. It seemed like it hadn't been updated in quite awhile.
Its possible you were looking at the old one, I think we updated the link in most spots but we did have to make a new board so its possible that old board is still floating around. Will doublecheck our posts to make sure its linking to the right spot
You have Karate Mike now employed to do the Deep Dives. These are often how really snappy 5 min vids. Rich The Man does good breakdown vids of events and the there requirements but these are always after the fact. I think a snappy 2-3 minute breakdown video for Side Quests and any other additions would be really helpful. We could then officially see what we are actually supposed to do.

As you're still here ,maybe a bug champ list may help the team to address everything on next fix.

With regards to relics, that page still exists! Can find it here: https://playcontestofchampions.com/relics. As part of the restructuring of the website it got taken off the top line just to make things a bit more streamlined, but we can look into ways to make it a bit more accessible in the future!
Its not a huge deal but its a little thing that moght go unattended and repeat being unattended.
The current engagement on communication, I am split. I find it a lot more friendly in the sense that the interaction is almost on the side of what a player would say, and that's might be a good thing and not so good on the other side.

Since that was ignored, I started a new thread last month.

What more can a person do to try and get an issue looked at?
The forums felt like the red headed step child left to toil by himself. I understand the turnover brought significant change but it seemed there were promises of open communication that was unfulfilled or just disregarded. Refreshing to see your exchange on here with a lot of the long term forum members.
Also, forums-wise, we seem to have lost the 'Moderator' tag again, which would let people see that you're around...
