I definitely agree, if this is the direction that new bosses will be taking then it just might be time to put down this game after all of these years.

Some aspects of the fight are interesting however as you say the precision requirement sucks. Like it’s hard enough to lock in and perform specific actions in the correct order but to also determine what special is being thrown and then time everything right especially the late phases feels like they are trying to hard to design outside the box. If they lessened the precision of inputs it would be better.

I mentioned this in a separate thread. In hindsight, I think it’s poorly designed. This currently version of Ares should be the Ares 2.0 we will fight in the future, similar to how Collector and Grandmaster have a second version of themselves.

Ares has a specific instructions on how to avoid damage from his special attacks, but what does Kabam do? They don’t ease you in to a new champion’s animations. What do I mean by that? From 100-90%, sure you can get used to his SP1. But what happens after that? He randomly chooses between SP1 and SP2.

    What should happen?
Phase 1: allow the players to get familiar with SP1
Phase 2: allow the players to get familiar with SP2
Phase 3: allow the players to get familiar with alternating between SP1 and SP2
Phase 4 & 5: randomize the special attacks

I think that would’ve been a much pleasant experience for the players. Granted, he’s still difficult, but it becomes increasingly more difficult as the fight goes on through the above suggestion.

Exactly. When I slowly learnt his special 1 in phase 1 he went to next phase and started random specials lol.

Guys you are making me scared lol. I have silk, hulk and sentry( think he will be good for the longer fights), 1k units and 20 revives. This should be more than enough for the debuff path right?

I'd honestly say no for most people. @JLordVile
Dayum. Can't even hit the arenas cuz I have exams. Guess I will have to wait about a month. Still gonna see how far I get 0 revives tho. Thanks for all the insight will!

If you can, complete eq first
That way you will have the revive pack available to buy with the units in case you need it
I used around 20-25 revives on my first run (same path) using silk, ironheart and deathless she hulk

    1k
TB and cav give the same deal, I like that one because it also gives you 10 30% attack/hp boost

The energy refills are nice too.
Overall it's not a great deal, but better than just buying revives individually from the store.

No, Sentry was an mvp for me, carries in the nebula and Adam warlock fight, bc he can gain buffs without actually hitting the opponent.
Yeah, you were smart to use him.
I'm waiting for the BG rewards to come to my inbox so I can buy the T4As and T6CCs to R3 my Sentry and then do Necropolis and EoP with him.
I'm not like you young guns who can do it with a 7R1 Sentry. I need that extra juice for my 40-year-old hands.

You don't speak or represent all players, and others don't represent or speak for you.
Kabam can't offer one type of content that will be enjoyed by everyone when everyone is not the same.
Some players need revives to get through Apothecary, some players get bored unless the content is Necro-level difficult, and then a whole bunch fall somewhere in between.
Don't be bitter if this content is too difficult for you.
There is no shame in that, and it might end up being too much for me too.
But I won't let that make me tell Kabam to get rid of it for everyone.

    I took in a 6-star Sentry, and 7-star Silk and 7-star Ironheart.

Since the damage is mainly just debuff based on the Nebula path, it doesn't really matter whether Sentry is ramped up (on the path at least; I dunno if he'll hit harder at Ares but it also doesn't matter cause the focus is to gain Vigors). Sentry is great for the path because he can gain buffs (ignore Nebula's autoblock), his buffs are nullify immune (ignores one of the nodes on Adam Warlock), and can easily apply debuffs to take advantage of the path node.

I'm not that good, so the path itself took me 13 revives. Photon took more than I expected since I had difficulty managing my power levels, and Aegon was more annoying than I thought.

Ares himself took 29 revives. I mainly focused on the brute force method, as I couldn't get the timing down on the specials even if I knew which special it was. Some of the revives were because the AI was spazzy and wasted time constantly dashing back and blocking, but then light intercepting me when I try to attack.

I'd say an average skilled player could probably do it all with half that - the path in 7 revives, and Ares in 20 revives.

I normally enter this kind of content expecting it to be a revive sink and I am rarely disappointed but it does remove the "sad" regarding the end cost. Simple way I treat it, are the rewards worth xxxx units? If I would buy them for that amount then its ok to blow it on revives.

I am hopeful that it might be adjusted to make the specials easier to identify but there's also a good chance I will have to suck it up and spend baby spend.

I have no idea how you cope with so many incursion carries @willrun4adonut but is there a chance spending so much time in that mode has soured the other stuff?

Stay average and keep going brother, I need the company!

Another as always awesome chart from CatMurdock showing the revive offers you get for completing the different difficulty levels of EQ:
