How does a perfect fight turn into a death from a single last second L3??

@WOK Sooo it's happened to you a few times with punisher, you're level 60 and it never dawned on you why? LOL

Never push punisher to SP3. As pointed out, his signature ability allows him to "endure" a KO either via special, normal attack or damage over time. He's got a high likelihood of either killing you with the SP3 or you will bleed out afterwards and there is not a thing you can do about it until his endure wears off... he is indestructible for that period of time.

Its called stats. Anyone has over 1.6 times your attack rating and atleast 1.4 or above your PI could POTENTIALLY KILL YOU with a single L3 (one factor being if and how it crits) Looks like you pulled the short end of that straw.

Although some may argue L3 cant crit, i am obliged to say, some nodes, some synergies, some buffs or debuffs may cause one to... I have definitely seen a small percentage happen.

LoL, thanks for the heads up, and I'll ask you a question as you asked "you're level 60 and it never dawned on you why"? You astutely observed the fact that I'm level 60 and ask me a question inferring that somehow you know better than me?
Truth be told, in fact it was once due to his endure. If it was because of endure the other 3 times, I'd be the first to admit I'm an idiot. I didn't believe it was necessary to have to point out the fact I have experience of a specfic champs sig abilities and or buffs/debuffs.
I would have better appreciated a question more along the lines of, "just in case you might not have known, Punisher has a signature abiltity that allows him to endure a lethal blow, and his chances are higher coinciding with his sig level. For example, sig level 99 affords him an 85% chance".
IMO, that would have earned you my respect and gratitude for trying to offer some info that you felt I could have possibly overlooked rather than compel me to retort back with my own question to you.

@WOK Yeah, like @beaupoem said, Punisher triggers endure which is pretty much indestructible for a time allowing him to fight after you completely deplete his health. Learned quickly on that one to NOT use SP to finish him if he is close to red. Just keep baiting as normal even to his death!
  • The1_NuclearOnionThe1_NuclearOnion Member Posts: 908 ★★★
to OP, I have taken that chance too. Opponent close to death so I go for it and it doesn't quite finish them. I quit doing that now. Bait and evade to the end now. That said, I have definitely had those hits or SP where I failed to evade properly and get hit and think "holy **** that was WAAYYY more dmg than I expected".
Especially sucks when parry or dexterity "pops" but you don't actually get it and take dmg anyways. Hate that.

How can pushing your opponent to their L3 be considered a "perfect" fight?

Still doesnt explain how a single L3 killed me. She was under bleed so I shot for it. I fight that route aq in aq out and never died before.

    Check hero rating differences.

@The1_NuclearOnion , oh absolutely no question to that, and I appreciate your consideration of sharing info without making a comment to "insult my intelligence" . Back when I was below lvl40, endure oddly triggered ALOT(as if they were all max sig lvl), which made me all too familiar to Punishers ability to come back and clobber me. But, my personality and playing style compels me to take my chances in scenarios where an opponent has an x% likelyhood of smashing my face in with what could be my fight ending attack. Old movie line, "that's right, Ice.......I am dangerous". LOL.
TBH, I've pretty much been in the same scenario described more than I can remember, and in those situations never once had I thought, I better try and bait out a SP2 rather than go for the kill, not that there's anything wrong with that choice of playing style. Neither of which I feel are any less deserving of respect than the other.
Its just a little surprising to me that so many players have posted here eluding to the OP somehow having played poorly and poke jabs about "not a perfect fight", which he basically replied back to someone describing , "I had fought taking no hits until......" And technically, his question was regarding how its possible to be KO'd by a SP3 when his champ is 5/50 with full hp.

Dude, look at the ratings of your Wolverine vs Psylocke. She's more than 3k higher. Her L3 does a **** ton of damage and Wolverine isn't the toughest guy on the block defense-wise. He heals a lot and does good damage with bleeds, which is why he's so good for AQ, but total health and armor rating are pretty low comparatively. How perfect your fight was prior to that point has no impact on how much damage your opponent does. You gambled shooting for the finish when she had close to a 3 bar and lost. We've all done it. Get over it.

I don't think attack rating or PI are good things to hang your hat on here, except in the most general way. Some champions have far more dangerous special three attacks than others, and you have to be wary of them explicitly. If you have to push Mordo to SP3, you have to. Unless he has a lot of fury stacks you'll probably survive. Storm on the other hand, you do everything you can to stay away from her SP3.

In this case, two things would have made me wary. First, the pic looks like the OP was attempting to take the node while it still had the 35% attack/health buff up. That makes her damage higher than the stats suggest. Second, Wolverine is usually played without specials to keep his power and regen up, and that makes all power burn champs extra dangerous. I don't know what the OP did, but if I was in that situation and I wanted to take a chance I would have unleashed special three, thinking that if I didn't kill psylocke and she came back with SP3, at least I would have no power.

But if that was a buffed Psylocke and I had full power I wouldn't take the chance pushing her to SP3 with regular attacks. That's not a smart risk to take in that specific situation. In my opinion, this is more influenced by the situation (including what champion you are facing) than just the rating number difference.

Doesn't sound like a perfect fight to me

    Yep

Look if you not giving insight then get off the thread. The picture was taken after the fight ended to show the 2 champs involved. I had fought taking no hits until she use an L3 right before she was about to die. How did 1 single L3 kill a full health 5/5 wolvie?

    It Must've done 13,145 damage.

Some Sp3's can wipe you out. Rule of thumb is not to push opponent to Sp3. Mistakenly did that in arena last night absent-mindedly fighting a 5/50 Hulk. Never got hit and mistimed the stun I had on him for a finishing blow. He got his Sp3 off and I was toast.

Not sure how much damage Psylocke Sp3 does, but it does happen.
