I think we need to reflect as a community after the past 24 hours

The forums, community attitude, subreddit have all been soo toxic the past 24 hours and it turns out it was literally over nothing. The past 24 hours have been insane in terms of free gifts, great content, all around good things for the game but because people were so quick to become outraged over what turned out to be basically a non-issue it really brought the community down. As a whole in terms of free rewards uncollected players got 15k five star shard, 1 k six star shard, 2 T1 alpha, 2 energy refills, 2 T4CC, half a T2A, and 2,250 T5B shards; Cavalier players got 20K five star shard, 5 K six star shards, 20 5*sig stones, 3 T4CC, 1 T2A and 6,750 T5B. That's literally crazy in terms of free stuff, not even including the shard arenas and there is a clear upgrade in cavalier rewards vs uncollected rewards.
We didn't have all information, we knew this was a multiple stage event for the anniversary but because just one part of it was unsatisfactory people went crazy, saying they're going to quit the game, taking Loki up to rank 3, cursing out kabam. Seriously guys, kabam deserves a lot of the flack they get but this year objectively has been amazing in terms of quality of life improvements, community interaction, rewards and content. Kabam also deserves a little credit when its due so lets give them that this week.
Thank you for a game so many of us have enjoyed, some for over half a decade. To me MCOC is by far the deepest, most complete mobile gaming experience out there and I can't wait to see how the contest grows over the next few years

The fact we are year 6 of this games speaks volumes for the games ability to keep the masses entertained.
So as far I am concerned the backlash was great and I hope that Kabam learns something from it and hires someone with common sense to look over their future events
The community is almost as toxic as Kabam.
When we look at the last two weeks, most notably outrage over offers, the anniversary calendar, and the arena, reflection means looking backwards to understand what could’ve been done differently.
This isn’t a post to complain. It’s here to provide examples of how to avoid problems in the future based on recent outcries.
Any one of these things could have avoided one or more of the bouts of negativity that cropped up:
1) announce Thronebreaker in the roadmap. Don’t hide something as significant as a progression title for two extra months. This has the added perk of fostering extra July 4 spending for people trying to reach the title close to launch.
2) announce with the July 4 offers that they won’t be this good again because the cavalier pool will shrink in the future. This also probably benefits Kabam’s bottom line.
3) explain the shifted focus (or relevant resources) to expect for each title once TB comes out. The difference between building a 5-star roster and a 6-star roster. This would’ve tempered Black Friday expectations.
4) for the arena, a simple disclaimer could have announced “these rewards are too big for inflated bonus points. Getting all the rewards will take a LOT.” Alternatively, make the arena last a month or something.
Kabam has improved cavalier EQ. There are lots of rewards, calendars and content this month. If the game were played in a bubble where people didn’t know what TB players were getting, the frustration this week would be nonexistent. On the other hand, if you feel slighted less than two weeks after REALLY feeling slighted, people lash out real hard.
Actually, don't do that. I wouldn't wish that upon Seatin or anyone else for that matter. I do find it frustrating that it is very difficult to give Seatin his proper due. He's one of the most popular visible community members and his voice carries significant weight among his audience - which there's nothing wrong with by the way - and his video became the focal point for a lot of discussion that was brewing at the time, and it is extremely difficult to fully estimate the impact he had on the discussion going on at the time. He deserves full credit for that. He probably deserves more credit than he gets in general, maybe even from me.
But the "only Seatin matters" crowd makes it extremely difficult, because they not only oversimplify, but belittle the huge contributions that were and are being made by other players also providing feedback and directing the conversation. Anyone who was in the Book 2 beta would know that the discussion that spilled over into the forums was already happening before Seatin posted his video, and Kabam was already starting to take notice of it. Certainly, Seatin's video had a significant impact on that discussion, but he wasn't its origin, and he wasn't its sole guiding force.
It is very difficult to give a community member like Seatin his fair credit without going overboard, and it is also difficult to counter the people who give him way too much credit without seemingly taking swipes at him as collateral damage. But man I wish the people who think that if not for Seatin Kabam wouldn't listen to the community at all would grow a brain sometimes.
