I have no issues with people creating as many accounts as possible to farm the units as mentioned. It’s not the 2100 units is credited to their account as soon as they create it. They spend a lot of time doing the mundane stuff all for getting some R3s and R4s which makes a huge part of the community jealous including the one who is the reason for such a thread. As long as those guys creating are not using bots or using it for a different purpose I don’t see this an issue as projected except for Kabam.
This is a huge amount of smoke with a very little fire. As I said 10 days ago this is a theoretical notion pushed to a theoretical maximum, the reality being that there’s going to be very few who are going to have the inclination to truly take it to obscene levels and it still won’t impact the integrity of the rank rewards, it might even push the average player higher as there would be a higher amount of accounts involved, most of which would take up the bottom 50%.
Maybe, but you should never assume what players are willing to do. You can be right a hundred times in a row, but the one time you're wrong it is likely to be catastrophic.
Well then I just learned we’ve been playing in a post apocalyptic battle realm after the countless arena bot accounts have already had similar impacts for years now. Not to mention the players who have already employed similar tactics (for years) with near identical outcomes to what is being discussed as a possibility now.
Mass gifting from alt accounts is nothing new and the degree bots already do it won’t be matched by players taking advantage of early acts.
If the botters actually knew what they were doing (and they don't) this would trivially obliterate what the bot farms can currently do. The botters are not the sharpest tacks in the box, but we can't expect them to stay that way forever.
I think you don’t understand or underestimate what bots farms are capable of and the numbers they have been turning out. They also pick up unused or discarded accounts so there is no need to build one.
Side note, someone ask BG what his wife thinks of him tying up thousands of dollars in new devices while locking himself away to play 12 accounts for 8 hours a day and foregoing his upcoming holiday plans so he can farms dem big units over he next 45 days.
I'm 99% sure you're joking but incase you aren't he did specifically say that he will not farm an alt at all. He did one run yesterday and immediately spend the 2k units on grandmaster crystals
Will he or won’t he? Because he sure did threaten to do so during that run; using the scenario I posted if nothing was done to remove the possibility.
I believe he also said that he was reasonably certain that Kabam would have to do something to prevent unlimited use of this scenario, so saying he would do it if nothing was done might have been just to emphasize the point. Since we're unlikely to know what Kabam will do between now and the gifting event, Brian (and everyone else) has to act on their assumptions about what Kabam will do, and I believe Brian will act on the assumption that Kabam will limit this type of behavior and not go all out on farming those units.
Just cap the ammount of GGC a player can be gifted.
That would set a limit of crystals you could send to your main account, and also limit the money spent on the event.
they are not going to limit how much someone can gift....people spend thousands gifting others. That would also result in leaderboards for alliances ending up with a bunch of ties as the top spending alliances would just max out
I would like to see them only giving the gifting badge to people who have spent at least 2K lifetime in units...that way people trying to farm new accounts will lose out on the easy first 2K units. Realistically speaking who is going to spend 6+ hours farming units? Very very small percentage of people but if they are forcing them to spend their first 2K units first for each account will likely be enough not to spend all of that time

We’re likely to know with the patch notes mentioning the event if it’s anything like last year where restrictions were put in place for the alliance point contribution.
There is also not much Kabam can do without gutting the event for significant portions of the player base they’ve protected and acknowledged in the past.
So if this is going to be limited even for people who do play through legitimately to earn the units why are arena bots so wide spread still? An issue plaguing an entire game mode that runs year round vs an annual event where the real rewards are the rank rewards that this doesn't impact.

One problem doesn't justify another. There are things that are in their immediate control, and things that aren't. It's not as if they're allowing Bots, or turning a blind eye.

Perhaps, but I can guarantee they will try anyway. Non-fungible currency is the least disruptive option available, but I've heard nothing to make me believe they are currently pursuing that option. That leaves some combination of all other worse options.
In any event, I believe acting on the assumption that Kabam will do little or nothing is not a course of action I would advise. Anyone attempting to use these methods to gain a sizeable gifting event windfall and ends up having their hands tied has no one to blame but themselves. People playing alts like they normally play alts and end up being collateral damage I can sympathize with, but people leaning into the low level farms that get stuck unable to use those units need to acknowledge they are playing with fire, and they are taking their chances.
Just cap the ammount of GGC a player can be gifted.
That would set a limit of crystals you could send to your main account, and also limit the money spent on the event.
they are not going to limit how much someone can gift....people spend thousands gifting others. That would also result in leaderboards for alliances ending up with a bunch of ties as the top spending alliances would just max out
Just remove rank rewards then. The whole money-gifting part of the event is the main problem, not the farm on alt accounts.
Of course, placing a cap would end up cutting Kabam gains by a lot. Like 95% or so. But sometimes in life, people need to make sacrifices in order to achieve greatness. So is up to them to sacrifice the money they would get in order to have a good event, fair for everyone.

Kabam is here to make money. The reason they are doing something about this likely has more to do with money than pleasing the community. In the end that's ok as long as they don't piss off too many of us because they are here to make money and without that the game wouldn't exist.

I'm not sure how you believe spending is the evil here, but some people have money to spend, and some don't. That's life. Does everyone deserve to have everything they need? Moralistically, yes. That's just not the world we live in. This game has lasted and evolved as long as it has because of people who pay and support it. Does that mean they matter more than others? No. Not in terms of being valuable patrons. Each Player matters. As much as people feel they matter more because they whale out, everyone's voices are valid. That still doesn't negate the value of people supporting the game financially. Some people have money, and some don't. I can't ask people to sell their Aston Martin so we can all take the bus. They earn their own money, and are free to spend it as they choose. Which means they will have things I don't. The game has been structured this way since inception. It's a Freemium game. You can play for free, or you can pay. If you pay, you'll get more. That's not any less fair than stopping people from advancing with money.

That's just the primary reason why the gifting event has been having such bad reputation up until now. So yes, it is without a doubt the problem.

It goes back to the beginning point, where some people are trying to sabotage the one's who prefer to grind for days for their rewards, while the rest just get everything in a second.

As far as I know, it's never really had a bad reputation. It's one of the most awaited Events of the year. While some are all about the Rewards, the main point of it is to share some love for the holidays. At least that's what we do. We enjoy gifting and trading, and we all end up gaining something. That doesn't require Rank Rewards. That still doesn't mean it's a bad thing that people earn much more for spending more. Let them. It's their money. For that matter, if someone has thousands to shell out, let them have some Cats and a bloody Champ.

Kabam should just let the criteria be known and put and end to this thread and the speculation now. All dragging it out is going to do is piss off one side of the issue more when they finally do. Since Miike said this was under consideration when they made the changes they obviously have their plan in mind, so why have this thread go on for weeks and foster more ill will with people?
Hi guys! It seems the good changes might turn out to be a very bad exploit. However, we all saved units or people buy units for themselves to use for their own account MAINLy. I think it is better to change "Gifting event" to "Buying event". That said all items (to be included in the store) bought to the account should be giving points to the players and their alliances instead of gifting them. A limit of gifting/receiving items should be set as some might want to gift their friends/youtubers some stuff. This is also something that I did not like too as people were getting freebies by their followers a lot. Balance was broken from the start, it should be tuned for lesser disbalance IMHO.
The video is like me a non-grinder, saying arena grinders are gaining advantage because they are farming units and BC, which again will give some x amount of units. Non issue.

and absolutely kill the revenue?
Yes.
So spending is bad for the game and we should kill the revenue? What would you like to discuss after the game dies?
The difference is they're using Resources intended to help new Accounts, in order to boost their main. It's not Grinding vs. spending. It's the manipulation of the intended system that is the problem. If people want to spend their own money on themselves, that's different. They can do that on any Account. If they're taking advantage of the new Units, that's not the same.
This is no way effects you though. This only effects the bottom line for Kabam. It is no player's fault that Kabam redesigned the opening acts like this. This is the way the game currently functions. It is not an exploit to play the game as designed and do whatever the player wants with the in game rewards. All of this is a Kabam issue both in the cause and the effect.
There are 2 solutions to this if mass gifting is actually a problem: 1. Don't have the event. 2. An account can only receive X number of crystals as gifts regardless of the source.
Or we could just acknowledge that this doesn't effect players in any way because the end result is the same whether people grind/spend and that the players who will disagree with me right now are just jealous/upset that they don't have the time to grind alts as well.
It affects me when I'm not using an Alt to boost my main
The cats out of the bag now!! This is what all the people complaining about this are worried about. Since I am not doing it then it must be wrong.
Originally I said it wasn't game-breaking and I could live with it. That's not the same as saying it doesn't affect people at all. It does, actually. Anything that bastardizes the concept of fair play affects the game overall, and the people playing it. People have every right to make Alts and farm the Units in them. Using said Units to repeatedly boost other Accounts isn't a right. It's a loophole.
On the other hand, it is one event per year and the boost is rng. And earning those units isn't particularly easy either, it is hours upon hours of playing, without basic masteries like dexterity. Basically arena, just a bit faster.
If you critisize boosting other accounts, then there are two options: ban alting or don't make gifting, I dont see other options
I've never been a fan of boosting mains with Alts. Personal opinion. However, many people save up all year to do it, and I respect that. It's the misuse of the new Units that I don't agree with.
I respect your opinion, don't get me wrong. I just don't think the new units are that huge difference. I have made around 1500 in 8+ hours of playing. Compare that to arena with developed roster. I don't think the alts are that much of an advantage as people make it seem. Yea, it is slightly better than arena, but not by some crazy amount. And at the end of a day, players spend insane amounts of time in-game either way

And at the end of a day, players spend insane amounts of time in-game either way
They are when people are spawning multiple Accounts for the purpose of getting easy Units to send to their Main.
Easy units a problem? Have you seen the unit store?
I don't like the fact suddenly this is considered a problem and a "exploit." And that somehow we are forgetting the previous counter measures taken to avoid this exploit. Such as not giving the temporary gifting badge to accounts that joined after a certain date.
I'm not sure how you believe spending is the evil here
That's just the primary reason why the gifting event has been having such bad reputation up until now. So yes, it is without a doubt the problem.

You can play for free, or you can pay. If you pay, you'll get more. That's not any less fair than stopping people from advancing with money.
It goes back to the beginning point, where some people are trying to sabotage the one's who prefer to grind for days for their rewards, while the rest just get everything in a second.
As far as I know, it's never really had a bad reputation.
It always had. And the main problem involves what I've been describing up until now.

and absolutely kill the revenue?
Yes.
So spending is bad for the game and we should kill the revenue? What would you like to discuss after the game dies?
Personally Now, I would like kabam to 1. Increase cost GGCs to at least 500 units. Even 1000 units is ok! 2. Make only level 35+ players eligible to be able to send/receive the gift!
These 2 are the best rules and can overcome everything from arena botters to new alts created after watching BG stream! Problem solved and we all can go home!
The 1st gifting event was "supposed" to be letting players to send gifts to alliance mates or friends in game, to show gesture and celebrate the seasons.
Then, there is an introduction team milestones to "encourage" players gifting, the more you gift out GGC the higher the point to milestones. And then there is "ranking" for alliance gifting event. The purpose of the event had changed since then. Trade/exchange crystals, then post complaining ppl "not gifting back" happens the entire Dec.
THIS IS NO LONGER A SEASONS EVENT, EVERYTHING A CALCULATION. IT'S A BUSINESS.
So, what's the purpose when Kabam introducing this event? If this is purely to meet year end revenue target, then just take out the "gifting event" and make it "year end spending competition". No more left-wing "full of love" sugar-coated title. Just pure competition for spending, buy odins, buy GGC, exchange and compete for top rank rewards.
So, it is NOT an exploit when ppl opening many alt accounts, grind 8 hours 45 days in order to obtain the max units. It's a business. Not seasons greeting. Period.

😑
I would like to see them only giving the gifting badge to people who have spent at least 2K lifetime in units...that way people trying to farm new accounts will lose out on the easy first 2K units. Realistically speaking who is going to spend 6+ hours farming units? Very very small percentage of people but if they are forcing them to spend their first 2K units first for each account will likely be enough not to spend all of that time
There is also not much Kabam can do without gutting the event for significant portions of the player base they’ve protected and acknowledged in the past.
