This thread is hilarious, if you post anti-kabam (or in this case anti-youtubers, which is funny as a lot of them aren't even youtubers) you get a lot of agrees, if you post anything that likes this idea you get lots of disagrees. Sometimes this community is so depressing.
I truly don't understand how something like this upset anyone lol
i would beat all of the summoners in this tournament with lubed up fingers.
with that said, let us make march madness-style brackets for in-game prizes so we can be more engaged in the tournament.
also, please change the name of this from "summoner showdown" to "handpicked individuals who make youtube videos and are in no way representative of the game's best talent."
Wow. Glad people read threads instead of just reacting without knowing what they're talking about lmao
my comment was mostly sarcastic. though i would still appreciate a march-madness style bracket. also, did read the whole thread. agree with both sides. personally i would have loved to be in a tournament.
Sure, it would definitely be cool if they do something similar in an open format but that would also be a huge undertaking with the amount of people playing the game. Regardless the fact that I'm not directly involved in this certainly hasn't hurt my feelings or made me feel cheated as it seems to have with some

If they had announced it without mentioning anything prior to that, nobody would be upset. They´ve built up a hype which made the community believe that something big was coming to the game that everyone could be a part of sooner or later, like ROL 2.0, LOL 2.0, a special event or anything else that is worthy of such a hype. What´s happening here is that Kabam announced something that only a handful of people can experience, thus people are disappointed. I don´t really know why that is so hard to understand...
No, they announced there would be a big announcement. You guys, decided to get hyped up about something you had no information about. Whether or not you consider the tournament a big thing is of course subjective and an opinion anyone is welcome to but they definitely didn't "build up hype"
It's not anything worth arguing about as people will feel how they feel. I just don't personally understand the reaction of many is all.
Found 1 official account tweet and one from Miike. Think there was also a mention here from him.. But both the tweet and the post were mostly asking about who would be there and trying to make sure they had people available to play on stage.
Maybe I missed where something else was posted that would be considered hype and/or lead people to believe whatever it is they believed about the announcement. Just not seeing any language that would make me think "oh ppl gonna be insanely angry about this" lol
There will be 10s of thousands of viewers of this event. They will be the lower skilled and/or new players. I do this kind of marketing for a living. This is a very poor way to market the game at Comic-Con. It will attract no new players and does nothing for majority existing players.
This is what is referred to as a sizeable miss. Or “opportunity” in further years.
PM me if you wanna really have this season of NY Comic-Con to take off for your guys.

Agree. I think people are just used to complaining about everything now. I'm sure there are things about which I care less than this "issue" but nothing comes to mind at the moment.

And "some" people (a select elite crowd) complains about complaining and defends everything they do, good or bad, so I guess it evens itself out.
LOL if you are putting me in the "defends everything they do" group you aren't paying attention, but whatever.

Likewise myself. Apparently not assuming everything that happens in the game is down to some nefarious motive and overreacting about it is agreeing with everything they do.
Is this replacing the tournament that is usually held at NYCC? I'm guessing yes but I think still giving people the opportunity to do the usual beat 1-2 bosses and get a ticket for a wheel of prizes would cater to a lot more than 27 people.
I don't think it replaces anything. I'm not the one in the know but haven't seen anything that makes it seem like they won't have that sort of stuff going on at the Kabam booth.

It is not! I don't have all the details on what's going to happen at Comic Con this year, but it's safe to assume we'll still have something like the recent tournaments running, but stay tuned for more details closer to NYCC.

This is great, I'm really looking forward to watching this! If it's hype, I fully plan on using it to lure friends into getting started playing this. I'm eager to see what it means for us Summoners already in the Battlerealm, too. I could imagine a cool interactive thing where we get to cheer for our favourite competitor or team and get certain prizes if they reach a certain rank or something. That would be a cool way to involve everybody. I would be way more excited and even more sure to tune in if I had some stakes in it.
these guys are only the best at the game in there own minds... the funniest part is summoners who watch there videos and send them money literally bought there accts. exept bg you send him money and he doesn't put it in game??? don't get it build your own acct instead of someone else's
Ever go watch a movie? Or attend a sporting event? Or a play or musical?

Not exactly. I’m not top ten in my squad let alone the game. As for videos, I’ve done very few and they are simple informational/instructional ones. Don’t have any account to receive funds for them, just made them to help people.
I honestly don't see very many people (outside of Kabam or those participating) really caring about this at all.
I'm sure it's exciting for the participants though.
While it may not be for everyone, a lot of people all around the world tuned in to see the semi-finals and finals of the NYCC Tournament last year.
Although you may not be tuning in, others might, and might really enjoy the idea of watching other parts of their Community compete in the first Tournament for a game that they enjoy!
Are we not allowed to Express our opinion anymore? Do you have to shut down everyone who respectfully disagrees with you?
I'm with the majority of people here that don't care about this "mega showdown".
I hope if it is "community leaders" tournament, then we are gonna see Seatin? Since ya know, all other youtubers accounts combined do not add up to half of the content he has pushed alone

In what way did @Kabam Miike prevent someone from expressing their opinion or shut down a poster by replying to them? By replying to that post, are you saying that @Kabam Miike isn't allowed to express an opinion and you're trying to shut him down now?
You're allowed to express an opinion. Everyone else is entitled to agree or disagree with or simply respond to that opinion. This is a discussion forum. Not a commiseration forum.

No one sends them money for thier account specificaly unless it's from a sponsor. Most people donate to somebody because they like their content and want to encourage the respective person to continue posting content. About how the money is spent, that's up for the creator of that respective content.
this appears to be a good starting point to get rewarded for being loyal. With As much time and money as I have spent (not as much as some players) on this game I feel they owe me AND the community. I can’t lie after being screwed on drax 4* arena event twice with over 3 mil points each time I think they owe me a tad even if it’s rewards like this. I was supremely pissed at the time and still kinda am.

On hindsight, and reading in context, the big announcement is tournament itself.
