Future of Progression: Relics, 7-Stars and Ascension Roadmap - Discussion Thread

Greetings Summoners!

Today, we’re very excited to share our plans for the future of Power Progression in Marvel Contest of Champions!

In this Roadmap, we’re going to introduce you to:

Relics: A brand new addition that allows you to add new abilities and attributes to your Champions, finally allowing you to customize your favourite Champion!
7-Stars: A new rarity that pushes the boundaries of Champion strength!
Ascension: A new way to empower your existing Champions, giving them, even more, strength and longevity, respecting the roster you’ve worked hard to create!

With Relics coming first, we’ll be focussing primarily on them in this post, but we wanted to give you all some insight into 7-Stars and Ascension as well, and how they all complete the picture of Power Progression in The Contest.

You'll likely have a lot of questions, and we'll do our best to answer, but the information is still in development, so we might not have the answers right now, especially surrounding 7-Stars and Ascension.

7* in spring 2023. You got to be joking. I can't even express how terrible this idea sounds. So many implications....
Still no news about paragon sigil, EQ, crystal updates. But hey, 7* stars are around the corner. Can't wait for the feat 7* crystal sales with a chance for 3* groot

So we'll be seeing 7 stars as opponents in 2 months? That's earlier than I thought it would be. In fact, all these changes are coming sooner than I thought they would.

I was fine with relics being added, but you really dropped the ball with adding another rarity this quick. Now I’m confident we’ll see our first maxed 6 star by the the new “revamped” gifting event.

Honestly I always thought new ranks came slower than majority of other mobile games. Alot slower in fact. Most games only linger with characters at the top end for a very short time. 6 months tops. Mcoc always made us wait for a year or more before the next rank comes out.

Post says you can get 7* shards by duping 6* champs starting in November.

With relics being disallowed (for the time being at least) in war, AQ, abyss and story. Will we need to unbind the relic from the champion to use them in those modes? Or will the effects just not happen. Obviously I would hope the second option since there is an eventual cost to unbind or rebind the relic. But either way it would be good to know.

7*s are going to be the end of the contest. Guaranteed. You really need to rethink this decision. Make the ascension turn 6*s into 7*s or anything else. This is a bad idea.

Or will the effects just not happen. Obviously I would hope the second option since there is an eventual cost to unbind or rebind the relic. But either way it would be good to know.

I'd assume the effects are just locked out similar to how you can't use an sp3 on a 1 or 2* or how they have them locked out in act 1 etc lol

I agree that is how it should be. But I have learned long ago that what I think should be and what the game actually is can sometimes be miles apart.

Im guessing everyone freaking out didnt actually read the whole post. This looks amazing. And the addition of ascension should put everyone at easy with their champs becoming obsolete. A game have to progress somehow and i think you guys nailed it if you can manage this that is. On paper tho looks cool and i am intrigued

on a serious note, Can we maybe get some info on how strong exactly an ascended six star would be compared to a 7 star? Is a 7 star rank 5 going to be stronger than a 6 star rank 5 ascended? i assume they would but how much stronger?

I like the relics and ascension but think 7* should be at least late 2023 or to coincidence them with r5 6*s.

I kinda like the ascension idea. It sounds like basically a permanent 30% boost like you would use one before a war/story fight. A stop gap until you get that r4, r5 or 7*.

I thought this was gonna be it before reading what was ascension all about. Got disappointed to see that once again, it's just about getting new champs and start all over again

After BGs I'm just worried about the monetization of all these new game-changing additions. 7*s sound cool but Ascension and Relics just seem like a new reason to spend units and money. Who knows, maybe they don't forget to leave out hidden unit costs like BG decks
