Bg is the most competitive mode in the entire game. And the rewards must be worth what you pay for. But the rewards are so mid. Look at the milestone and how hard you earn it. No matter your story progress, 300k points only earn you 1.5k 6* shards that are worth less than 900 tokens ----- So generous. The first thing is to upgrade the milestone based on players' story progress, at least provide some 7* shards or titan shards at the end for those higher than Paragon (3 to 5k shards within a month is what I am talking about).
Honestly its probably already been said but im not reading through all the comments. Im sure kabam can see all the data, and the data would say mojority of people played bg during the anniversary edition which had amazing solo and alliance rewards. It felt rewarding and competitive like AW. Rewards in store and solo or alliance have fell off a cliff.
You dont see anyone running back and doing carina challeges vol 1 and 2, because the effort vs rewards arent worth it. Its how im starting to feel about battlegrounds.
We need WAY BETTER Solo Event Rewards We need WAYYY BETTER Alliance Event Rewards We need WAYYYYY BETTER Alliance Ranked Rewards Elders Marks and Trophy chips need to be increase at least 100 for each rank you up. Titan shards and 7* shards need to be added across all rewards structure. This is the most competitive mode in the game right? ok then they need to have the most lucrative rewards as well.
1.) Staleness - The game mode has become monotonous. 2 meta seasons make the game mode feel more like arena. And if one of those metas is unenjoyable it really impacts motivation for the season. The staleness is even worse feeling with the seasonal class nodes that make it more like 2 pseudo metas under a season long meta too. Yes it means more time to plan for a meta in the current configuration but honestly it’s stale compared to 4 meta seasons where you might need to reset your deck and rescheme each week. This also gave you more freedom to target a week that better fit your roster. 2 meta seasons are stale, recommend increasing to 3 or even back to 4.
4.) Content fatigue… too much g things that feel grindy at the same time. It’s awesome to always have things to do, but when there’s seemingly always another brutal defender to learn, or difficult mountain of content dropped people will prioritize elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that either but at some point too much to do has diminished returns when it’s the same player bases being asked to spend more and more time in game.
It's these 2 for me along with the rewards no longer being gamebreaking with current valiant deals, and a LOT of other content. I'm more excited to play Raids, bugs and all, than BGs when I decide what to spend my valuable resource called time on - the one worth more to me than to Kabam of course.
Time? Oh, Bugmat, you know that's not a valuable limited resource. /s
I'm going to expand on this because I just had a shower thought.
If there is one thing all living things on this planet have in common above all else it's that time is the most precious, valuable, and limited resource that does and will ever exist.
T6cc, t4a, t6b, units, money. We can all get that back. Time is the one thing that NO ONE can get back. Ever. I think it's impossible to just try and ignore that like it isn't a factor in everything we all do.
Yep - not sure why they said that the other day but I haven't forgotten it. If we (players) don't spend time in this game nobody gets paid.
In my opinion, it is one of the worst things they've ever said to their player base. I honestly wish they didn't say that

Amen.
I’m happy to see players emphasizing this point. Nothing is literally free in this game—because we burn time to get it. And dismissing time as a factor for anything in game feels to me like a mix of things…dismissive, naive, uninformed.
Everything in our lives competes for our eyeballs and, consequently, our time and attention. It’s simply the most important asset we have.

They really could have said they hate all of us and it still wouldn't have been as bad as dismissing our time
BGs is terrible because of the current cash deal setup. For years, if you wanted a new champ, you had to either grind like crazy in arena, spend thousands of dollars on crystals, or get super duper lucky on a few crystals. Either way, there were a limited number of new ranked champs in BG decks, and even those were mostly in huge whale accounts anyway. But now, for a few hundred dollars, any player can get a guaranteed 6* of the newest champ, AND the ascension dust to make them powerful enough to compete with 7* champs.
Kabam has structured deals such that, to gain ground in GC, you are either extremely, extremely talented, or you pay to win. That's no fun for the rest of us who don't want to give Kabam thousands of dollars each month. I'm not against spending, but I am against the easy access Kabam now gives to instantly compete at high levels of BGs.
100$ can guarantee you a the latest meta champ as 6*. Meanwhile in arena only the top400 grinders can get it. It’s high time that changes to top10%. Back when 4*s were the meta, arena used to award top10% placements a new 4*. I remember how people (including me) were excited to grind for the brand new 4* Stark Spidey. Now top10% arena is not even giving a 6*, that isn’t the top rarity anyway. The game has changed a lot, that’s sure 😉
BGs isnt worth the time for me anymore. It was useful when i had tons of champs i wanted at high sig. Ive met my goals, and very rarely play the mode. Its just boring, and the meta usually sucks or feels like b.s. so why would i want to play it?
And yes, TIME. TIME is the most valuable thing to me when it comes to playing this game. Even if some may not think the time factor holds any weight 😂 (yes, im referring to you Jax)
Medal system. 2 for win 1 for loss was great. And too short lived. Now it's a slog (even if my Time spent logged on isn't important...)
Rewards. I hope when they eventually do pull the trigger on a buff they don't just make Valiant players happy, and remember there's more than just the top 1% playing their game...
The metas also stink. Either extremely roster dependent or nuke metas.
Every recent one has been garbage.
I think it’s just the general structure of having season long themes with 2 sub metas rather than 4 distinctly different metas. In the 4 meta format the metas changing let different champs shine more often and helped keep things fun or let you pick your spots. 2 submetas you just get bored and feel stuck playing node combinations you dislike with little variation between attacker and defender stalwarts.
I think a 2-1-1, 3 meta format, would really work well as not everyone sprints to the GC in the first week of BGs so the first meta being 2 weeks really wouldn’t be a big deal.
Also wanna echo the 2 medals for a win / 1 for a loss system in VT was superior to the extended VT system with seeding in my opinion too.
Kabam should at least remove the ability to ban champs, and this rng based selection of attackers and defenders, which only benefits decks flooded with ascended R5s and 7R2s+.
In addition, Kabam should also try to approach a 50/50 situation on who has to place defender first, as they had in the first season. This would have had a major impact on the ability to compete for TB/Paragon players. I have to place first 80-90% of the time, idk…why ?!?
If they also removed that you lose medallions upon defeat, but set the requirements for promotion to x number of wins in each group, then it might be more motivating to play more. Atm I just do the 48 hours objectives, and idc where I end up in the season anymore…D1 atm, for 2 weeks, 7 times close to promotion, 7 times I’ve ran into a wall of ascended R5s and 7R3s decks, which also, of course, got high ranked Onslought, Bullshite and Maestro, in adition to all the other nasty defenders.
TBH, BGs need to be completely redone. The whole VT and GC never made sense and has proven to be a disaster. Make it one big ladder to climb to there can be som actual separation of players.

Yeah, the first «season» was like that, and it was fun. We had pretty much a 50/50 on who had to place defenders first to. You got points per win and faced players with similar points when you played again, that was a fair competition.
Wanted to laugh too but it’s a pretty sad state. It’d be nice to get an update from the team o. If changes are coming to BGs rewards or structure
To be fair, it is a busy month, especially where energy is concerned. But in my view that only underscores the preference of players for allocation of available energy away from BGs when given other choices.

Fair point but that means it’s also going to remain a persistent problem with seasonal Everest content only just starting. The cost of that event is definitely having a knock on effect here too.
rewards have gotten worse and the mode feels more repetitive than ever before.
Buff the store, sure. But how about getting creative with the mode?
Go to four metas per month, change the season structure.
Do special tournaments organized by tier.
Give season-long rewards by game progression. “This cavalier player intercepted more dudes than anyone in the world during season X, they win Y”
Leave the game mode open during the off-season. Let us build our own metas (or choose past metas) and run our own tournaments.
(I’m sure there are a million factors that make some of these impossible. But I thought of them in two minutes. Someone on the inside should be able to come up with novel and executable ideas.)
BGs is a hell of a resource that can be activated to create lots of new engagement. But they are quickly ossifying into the same-old, same-old trap of arenas, AQ, EQ, etc.
This only proofs that BGs are already in the death spiral. Meanwhile I’m at Vibranium 1 doing my daily objectives matching other Valiants, that somehow all of them have at least 3 r3s, and of course 7* or 6r5 ascended versions of Onslaught, Bullseye and every other annoying new champ 😂

One bolder change might be to let you not lose a win towards the next level if you win 1 fight of the match.
