Just when I thought Kabam couldn't go any lower...they announce this. Your initial message from Miike actually made it sound like the Summoner Appreciation event and compensation would be two separate things - which they absolutely should be. You apparently think your long time player base who has been here since the beginning would forget the other 3 years month long appreciation event, and now you cut it down to a week? When the state of the game and level of vitriol between the company and players is at an all time high, you think reducing the time of the appreciation from 4 weeks to one is a good way to say "thanks for playing our game guys" ? I mean really. It's honestly baffling who is in charge there and making these decisions. Even those players who didn't have any issues whatsoever are going to see this and wonder why you decided this year of all years, we didn't need a month long event with a little bonuses for our time and effort. It's pretty pathetic.
And then to roll this measly, sad excuse for compensation into it - I mean you already set the bar so low with Miikes initial message, no one was expecting any rank down tickets or awakening gems. But this is just such a complete slap in the face and spit toward everyone. You have to pick which pathetic package you want - when a lot of people were affected in ALL OF THOSE AREAS? Sorry, you couldn't grind or play war or quest or do the event that month - but your "compensation" is gonna be to maybe get the tiniest chunk of items geared toward one area you weren't able to play due to Kabam's errors? Yeah. Awesome customer service guys. Truly, you take the cake.
I called this before it happened though. I said on here and reddit not to ever expect this company to care about their customers, the player base, to EVER go above and beyond on anything again, and to ALWAYS expect either nothing or the bare minimum on your end. And you have shown that to be absolutely the case. This is saying once again, you don't care. You don't care if people quit, you don't care that they can remember every other year's awesome appreciation events, you don't care that every other actual compensation package has been better than this - you just don't care. If you were trying to upset more people and rile them up further, congrats. You succeeded at that at least. If you were going for 1* reviews and people deciding this was it and quitting, congrats - you did it. What you did not do is show you care about anyone playing this game, and that your bottom line and profits are the only thing that matters to you anymore. This has been on a downhill trajectory since the new company took over last year, and this is just the latest signal that it's a whole new world on your end - and anyone who is still here from before will know that's absolutely the truth. Worst gaming company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with, which is sad, because many of us LOVE marvel, these characters and even this game and what is has the potential to be. The only ones standing in the way of that are whoever is in charge over there, and whoever is making these decisions. If you're trying to kill your game and cash out, it's working.
Kabam you can do better than this...1000 5* shards are a joke...and how does reduced act 4 energy cost benefit end game players who have already 100% it?
I'm like 33% feeling appreciated. The only item I'm half way excited about is being able to get closer to finishing Act 4. If they would have done 1 energy per tile, this would have been amazing! The rest...I'm pretty meh about even though I could use all of it. I'm sure they'll have buy options as well during the week. Yeah, 33% is about right with this news.
Well, that's a shame.. I think this might just be the end of the game.. funny thing is the end comes when Kabam gives out free stuff as opposed to any actual issues within the game.. That being said.. if this is truly supposed to be summoner appreciation (which is annual and independent of any other aspects of the game) AND compensation for the recent issues in the game especially the overheating problem with 19.0.. then you guys (Kabam) are totally out of touch with the state of your game and player base..
Compensation should be completely separate from the summoner appreciation.. if you (Kabam) truly believe that this is sufficient for the people who have continued to play and pay to play the game with all the problems recently.. then it seems you really don't appreciate your player base at all.. it's kind of a slap in the face.
Deeply disappointed from what I can glean from the announcement. Providing “appreciation” is different from apologizing or offering restitution; you can appreciate someone without admitting fault. That’s something the team flatly refused to do throughout the 19.0 meltdown.
I’m really at a loss in trying to understand the team’s decision on this particular approach. I don’t expect a mod to comment on any internal discussions, especially as it may relate to things like responsibility for damaged phones, but a simple explanation of their rationale would be greatly appreciated.
Hooray... we get to listen to people complain about fee stuff for the next 2 weeks...
If this is all the compensation we get, it isn’t free stuff. It’s an apology for kabam’s game not working well. And if that apology is as sub-par as what they’ve announced, then I think it’s alright to complain.
It's still free because I lost nothing from the game outages besides being inconvenienced.
Free is free. It's not like you paid for those rewards and didn't receive them.
Kabam could tell us all to go pound sand.
Time is money, in order to get these rewards you have to spend time. Hence they aren't free!
Kabam, your revenue went WAY down last month for a reason. Start paying attention to what your spending customers are saying, acknowledge fault, and GENOROUSLY compensate. Take COWhale’s “I’m taking a break” video. Your biggest customer has been pushed to the point where he says that he’s not having fun. All you can muster up for everyone waiting in the lifeboat, ready to abandon ship, is 1k five star shards? Sad.
I’m sticking around for my gwenpool crystal and will decide what I want to do in terms of playing after that.
No no, silly guys, it’s okay. They’re giving us a tenth of a t5b catalyst for 100 bucks so that makes it all better. I was worried too, but now that I’ve seen their generosity, I feel I have no choice but to accept this compensation and spend money on such an insignificant amount of fragments I’ll barely even realize they’re there. Kabam sure did pull themselves out of a goofy lil’ pickle there, huh guys? Good golly, I feel keen to sing with joy!
Ouch, dropped my phone. Guess the poor guy couldn’t handle the steamy hot compensation kabam’s served just for us to gobble up! Haha, even my charred fingers can’t stifle the delectable aroma of this five star meal! Dig in, friends; a feast await/s!
Here's how they could have fixed it:
1) Repeat the exact same Summoner Appreciation MONTH event from the last 3 years, to scale with the meta of the current game.
2) Give a compensation package appropriate to the amount of time players weren't able to play the game, with a bit more to show they care and realize how rough those few months were.
Boom. That easy. No meeting required, no condescending messages to not expect huge amounts of things, just appropriate and appreciative things toward the player base, with precedent from previous year's events and compensation issues.
Wow, they are doing that huh?
They said we should set our expectations low after two months of a underdeveloped game and bad updates and still manage to disappoint. They cut a summoner appreciation month to a week, the *gifts* do not adjust acorrdongly to all the player base. I know some people think RDTs are too much but I'm still waiting those because what they did to Archangel was beyond. And the cynism was that weeks later they release a champ (The Wasp) that could do the same than the now nerfed Archangel.
This compensation is so underwhelming and just adds to my disappointment with kabam and how they are handling this game.
If there’s a way to reject the “appreciation” outright (other than by just deleting the game and walking away), I think I would like that as a possible option.

Thank you. I’m pleased someone else doesn’t consider his/her time valueless.
Dr. Zola
Probably not, just going to let it go away.
I’m sticking around for my gwenpool crystal and will decide what I want to do in terms of playing after that.
No... why would they? If you admit that there is backlash then you have to deal with the consequences. Better to ignore reality than to accept it.
let's just not log into the game during the "appreciation" week.

I wish this gif said "it" instead of "he"

This “compensation” is utterly ridiculous. Couldn’t play more than 10 min at a time for a month.

Wait, was that running gag with Groot reference to MCOC ???
