What are your personal top 5 underrated champions?

IceBroIceBro Member Posts: 179 ★★
I know that you've seen a bunch of these underrated posts but I wanted to take my own spin on it. In my opinion, my top 5 most underrated champions are as followed:

1. Korg - Karatemike helped open my eyes with his recent Korg video and now that I've looked at his kit... he seems like a beast! I'm really inclined to upgrade my awakened 5* Korg now! Bleed/Shock immune, rock stack shield, unstoppable/unblockable, etc...
2. Psylocke - I've always liked Psylocke's amazing power control and very decent aar... but with Apocalypse, she becomes an entirely new heavy hitter! Her specials can hit extremely hard, her crit rate is insane, and her heavy attack with enough charges can end fights. I like her sp2 ability that kinda mimics Magik's sp2 as well.
3. Dormammu - Dormammu has always had an amazing kit... but his damage has usually been seen as lackluster. I think that Immortal Hulk really fixes that by giving him 75% increased attack at max dark energy. After a sp3 he can constantly be at max dark energy, and even regenerate health! Another thing I'm curious about is his synergy with Mephisto... since Surfer has 35% energy resistance at 1.1k rating, would 80% energy resistance give Dorm 2.5k rating? If so, that's higher than Havok so please could someone maybe test this? Double immunity and top tier power control too on top of that!
4.Mephisto - Mephisto is a champion that's always getting new synergies with mystics but not given enough attention. This guy has three immunities and can regenerate health with a cheat death mechanic! That in itself is freaking amazing! His incinerates can tick quite hard when paired with a team of mystics too. (SS and GR) I personally don't like Champion but he does benefit from that synergy too. Immortal Hulk and Hela's synergies sound pretty interesting for refreshing his passive buff prevention.
5. Hela - I see a lot of hate for Hela that she's all numbers and no utility, but I think that's unfair because damage is what she's best at if you think about it. She has the potential to have the hardest hitting attacks in the game if used properly. She could end fights before utility becomes a problem, especially if she's the last one alive on the team. Hela does need a bit of skill and ramp up time but if you time her heavies right she can be a beast! (Also she synergies well with 3 of the above which is pretty cool)

Honorable Mentions:
1. Immortal Hulk - Fun to play but needs mastery to use for maximum damage output and ability to start the next fight at full health
2. Rogue - So good... horseman and professor x barely affect her. Power control, debuff shrugging, life/buff stealing queen!
3. King Groot - Synergies have really made this guy so good for questing! Seriously impressed having ranked up my 6* king groot.

I really like Ronin tbh. His aar is actually pretty decent and his damage is nice. Great debuff shrug mechanic too and he is pretty fluid with his moveset.

    1. Immortal Hulk- Absolute god tier beast
    2. Platinumpool- actually very good
    3. Sasquatch- sp2 with even 5 ruptures is amazing
    4. Dragon man- sp2 cycle against the corner is insane.
    5. Ghost- not actually as bad as people say.

Do you mean ghost as in difficulty? I don’t think any player who knows what they’re talking about thinks ghost is bad

Those were some sick bleed stacks! I wish I had a 6* ronin but I can settle for my 5*.

Please explain what makes immortal hulk a beast?
I’ve been using him for AQ this week and he’s just not good, can only get the damage ramped up if you happen to have an SP2 right at the end of the unblockable period at the end of the end of the immortality.
Maybe it’s easier with less passive AI but I see absolutely no situation where he’d even be a top 5 option.
In no way is he a top 5 champ, but I think he is a top 5 science. He is awful in AQ because the AI is super passive, but you only need about 8 rage stacks to do crazy damage. You also need to try and end the fight after Immortality expires without taking additional direct damage. That makes him a high skill champion. You can backdraft to keep his rage up with no damage, and sp1 cycle is much better than sp2.

You got some of the points... but I don't think he's necessarily a top 5 science, but probably a top 10 science champ. His playstyle's revolved around three things: special attacks, intercepts, or parry stuns. You need any three of these things to reset or pause your rage duration. His most optimal rotation involves reaching your sp2 with at least 4 or 6 rage stacks, getting a parry stun off, and heavy attacking into the sp2 to double your rage stacks. Then you'd want to immediately throw a heavy after the sp2 and do a 5-hit combo. After that you are likely unblockable and you just keep on smashing until another sp2. You should've ended the fight by now at 95% hp. Intercepts also work if you don't want to take any damage but you gotta usually interrupt your combo to keep the timer up.

With the Dorm synergy his petrify, weakness, and random stuns will be up most of the fight which is nice. What some may not know is that if you throw any special besides your sp3, your rage charges will be reset... even if you hit into the opponents block which may come in clutch. And as soon as you see the random stun... you end you combo and start a new one like gwenpool.

I didn’t realize there was enough time for a heavy and a combo after sp2. Thanks.

I don't want to rank them 1-5, but the 5 that I think are the most underrated are:

    Red Hulk
    Ronin
    Old Man Logan
    Nebula
    Bishop

I'm not including any new champs because so many don't have them yet/ Having said that, I think Guardian will challenge (and pass) Warlock and G2099 as the second best tech champ in the game!

Bishop is definitely underrated. I decided to max out my Bishop just in case any energy nodes or abilities would trouble me and he has definitely surpassed my expectations. Nebula is another one that has very powerful application if played right. She can kill act 6 health pools with 1 sp2 and heal from mistakes which is awesome! Double immunity and shuts down robots too.

Right Ok so exactly as I was using him.
Ok, guess I’ll just break him out when I fancy a challenge on occasions then.

Loki is one of those champions that doesn't seem very good on paper but has some really interesting uses with his curse mechanic and help of the Hela synergy. It's so satisfying getting the passive stun and following up with a heavy!

Immortal hulk, I’m still on the fence about even with maximum rotation

Yeah he has some good uses, to make him alot better, I wish his passive stuns were guarenteed somehow, like if you finish a 5 hit combo with a light it has 100% chance to passive stun the defender, or his sp1 has a 100% chance to refresh the curse debuff.

    1. Killmonger. So many players can’t see past his damage. It’s perfectly serviceable and with his arednwla of utility absolutely justifiable

    2. Emma Frost. So. Much. Utility. 10 immunities, evade counter, extremely sustainable, access to power sting, taunt and a 50% concussion, as well as a wee bit of power manipulation. And of course, prowess. Some niche utility, but a lot that is very, very useful. Most players just don’t know how to properly utilise her

    3. Storm X. I mean she’s basically flimsy havok. SP3 rotation takes her to new levels, especially with suicides. Consistent 160k SP3’s after the first one

    4. Psylocke. One of the best power controllers in game. She doesn’t deal with passive power gain, but she can lockdown combat power rate the entire fight. Once again people can’t look past the damage. She could do with a bit more but she’s still very potent

    5. Rogue. Regen, power control, buff control (even if it could do with a tune up) and very high debuff resistance. This is a champ I’ve only started playing around with recently but she can do a lot. Once again it seems the community’s fascination with big yellow numbers is a hindrance

If you couldn’t tell, these are all champs with amazing utility, but somewhat lacking damage (aside from Emma). I value utility so much higher than big yellow numbers. I don’t care how quickly someone can do a fight, if they can’t actually do the fight

^^ appreciate the list, my Emma is close to making R3 I didn’t put her on mine because I didn’t think she was underrated

I mean, I think she’s fairly easily a top 5 mutant. If I pulled the 6*, I would take her to R3 in an instant without hesitation
