BGs matchmaking still sucks

A few of you telling me that I’m sandbagging. What??? I’m not sandbagging. Even IF I was, I was under the impression Kabam fixed that, or am I wrong in this assumption?

A few others saying BWDO was a really bad choice to take in against Silver Surfer. Ok, that may be so, BUT, what I was saying was, how does Silver Surfer throw ONE heavy attack to open the fight, and kill my BWDO right off the bat??? 100% health gone from 1 single Heavy Attack?? Doesn’t seem right to me. That seems like a mod was being used, but then again, what do I know. Apparently being a Paragon player that’s been playing for over 6 years makes me a “noob” according to another troll in these forums.

People wanting to just bash others in these forums is the reason why a lot of players don’t even bother with these forums anymore. The trolls in these forums is ridiculous.

I didn't say you were. I asked if you were. Regardless, the issues have been caused by people manipulating the results. People aren't falling into where they're supposed to be that way.

Had one of the weirdest matches ever today. Won first round and was doing well in round 2 but then my inputs froze and I could not even block. This did not feel like the typical Kabam input dropping issue — this was different. Of course I got slammed and lost round 2. But then during the champ selection process for final round the game froze — no loading icon, no spinner, internet connection was fine — and I was locked out of the selection process. When the game “un-froze” it had already selected Odin as my attacker which is not at all what I was planning to do. Result was loss in round 3 and the match. It was definitely the “weirdest” match I have ever played and definitely felt like my opponent was somehow controlling the action.

How long do you think it will take for the system to stabilize? And where do you think people should fall? What criteria do you use when you talk about people not falling where they are ‘supposed’ to be?

It will take some time since implementing the fix. As for where they are supposed to be, people naturally fall where they're supposed to be based on the results. When you have manipulating going on, that process is altered. That affects the entire leaderboard in varying degrees.

I played BGs a total 11-12 hours the last three days. And I went from Gold I… to Gold I 😡🔫

Hope Kabam will soon buff rewards in other parths of the game (eg monthly EQ, side quests and arena), so I will be possible to not play BGs and not fall too far behind.

The items we can buy for Tokens are so good they ‘dont compare’ to large parts of the game (like being able to buy many many 6s shards and 6s sig stones - compared to get 6s shards from arena and sig stones from monthly EQ).

Damn you totally didn't see this coming even though you spent two whole seasons relying on sandbagging 100% to "make up for the lack of skill", your words.
Well, I have finished all of the content that have ever been released in mcoc since 2014, and even though I am not the most skilled, I expected to be able to advance further than Gold I. My less skilled alliance mates - with smaller rosters - have progresses much higher than me in BGs.

Also having seven r4 and facing people with around 15-20 r4 put me in sort of a disadvantage (but I am sure our prestige is around the same, if Kabam uses this as a way of matching people).

If you want to advance in Battlegrounds just stop playing on your main.
Make a second account, get Uncollected and stroll to Gladiator Circuit with a 90%+ win ratio on Victory Track facing only small new accounts.
    This matchmaking is hilarious.
Handling free ranked rewards to new accounts, while stripping them out from bigger accounts.
Same old AW prestige matchmaking story.
    Great work 😂

So, just out of curiosity, I tested to see if “sandbagging” works or not. It doesn’t. I rebuilt my deck with nothing but 3 & 4* champs, restarted the game and tried a BGs match. It matched me up against someone with R3 and R4 6* champs, lol. I forfeited that match of course. So sandbagging doesn’t work anymore, if that’s what a person was doing before, and that’s fair I think.

    For the Developing Team:

I just wish the algorithm would let me choose better counters for the champs my opponent is choosing. Seems like 80% of the time I get really bad counters to choose from against my opponents. Also, I always get excited when my opponent doesn’t ban my N. Fury or HT, but then, N. Fury & HT never show up on the list of choices! Really frustrating. They’re out to get me I’m telling ya!

Imagine when you get into Formula 1 track with you 20 years old car and want to compete with all new F1 cars. You demand from those people to switch to old cars just because you have one? You should play with people close to your rank, it doesn't matter what deck they are using.

How many find that they get to pick champs first, only to see their opponent pick 2, but when the 2 are picked and they lock the picks, a third champ appears among the picks?!? I have noticed this just recently, in a few fights.

Is this a bug, or something modders can do?!?

I'm done playing BGs in any serious way. So just know if you match up with me, it'll be a free win 😘. I literally just put together a deck of the easiest 5* characters I have at r1 so people can enjoy the quick free victory. This game mode went from something I really enjoyed to easily the worst game mode for me. I actually found myself wanting to do arena yesterday for the first time in years. Thanks to this new matchmaking system.

I think from here on out I'll just keep doing this, to give out free wins and that way I'll still get season rewards with the alliance and solo rewards with 0 effort and 0 frustration.

Wish I was in Gold3, I would love to fight you every time 👻

    Great job btw 👍🏻

I'm in the GC and hate the intercept node, my big weakness in this game, so I'm doing almost the same thing as you at the moment - but somewhat involuntarily 😜

If you ban them on your opponent's deck you won't be able to draft them

For those of us not in the Victory Track, what are the matchmaking parameters now? If people are talking of not making rank ups then that implies that there's still some kind of roster weighting to the process.

My guess is it’s a mix of prestige and top 10-15 in your deck, my alt account is very top heavy but since I don’t play it outside of bgs and alliance I don’t have gold or iso to fill out a deck, my bottom 15-20 champs are generally r1 6* ranging from lvl 25 to lvl 1 and I’m matching decks that are all r3+

Mate, if you had to sandbag your way up to Diamond last season you 100% deserve to be stuck in Gold, it's that simple. Especially since you mention your weaker teammates have already made it past Gold. I agree that matchmaking is now punishing the stronger players by matching them with whales but yours is just a skill issue in general.

It’s a combination of account rating and prestige.
I’m stuck at Vibranium since matchmaking change going up and down from zero to four tokens.
All my matches since the change are accounts with similar rating and prestige. (3.5mil 15.5k fr reference)
All my last matches were people with a minimum of 10 r4s, some with more than half deck of r4s 😂
As a Paragon with only six r4s and one of them useless at BGs, so that makes them five, I stand no chance against these matches.
I suspect matchmaking basic parameter is Total Base Hero Rating.
I have very high rating in contrast with my r4s (rating floated because of all 2*s/3*s maxed out and most 4*s maxed or nearly maxed and all 5*s r3 or over), so the algorithm matches me with other 3.5mil accounts that are mostly stronger than mine.
Fun fact is that this matchmaking is giving a free pass to half the lower accounts, that are only matching each other, getting spots on GC that we Paragons should already had.
AW prestige matchmaking all over again 😠

Found more fun ways to hand out free wins. Making decks entirely out of 1 class.

That’s just one of the bugs man. It’s happened to me several times and even happened to JWill on stream a couple days ago when he was playing Fintech in the Vega tournament. It’s happened to KT several times on stream as well.

Clearing difficult contact in the game does not translate into being able to advance in BG. BG is unlike any other game mode. Just because you’ve done a bunch of difficult fights, or even solo’d some EOP Abyss or War bosses does not mean you’ll be good at BG. It takes a different skill set. High tier war is the closest mode to it (which is why those players were easily able to do well in it) but even still BG is different because you have to keep your health high and be fast with non-optimal counters. You can’t look at who you’re going to go up against and plan out your strategy. You have to do everything on the fly, and roll with what you got which might lead you to going up against Peni with Hit Monkey or Doing Nimrod vs Korg because your opponent has Torch. You have to rake up Champions that you might not want to rank and put sig stones in to them. I did not want to to take my Korg from R1-R3 and spend over 150 sigs on him, but I did. He’s gotten me wins, and many people have banned him which means they let someone else I really wanted to use in. It means not investing in Champions that you may want to rank up. I have several 6* that I’ve wanted to rank for a while that I’ve passed over to be able to build a better more well rounded deck. Succeeding at BG requires you to make adjustments and adapt and really think about what you might come up against. It’s not something you can auto pilot through like the rest of the game.

Being successful at BG requires you to put thought into what you might come up against. It requires you to adapt. You can’t go through it on auto pilot like you can with most of the other game modes. You’ve likely been enjoying not having the roster and skill level of other players directly affect you for the entire time you’ve been playing this game, but in this mode they do.

Adding my complaint to the new matchmaking.

My account: 1.8m rating. 12,700 prestige.

My Opponent: 3.3m rating, 16,001 prestige.

    Thanks a lot Kabam.
